Thanks heaps. That was very helpful. How long does it take for the pod to close up once pollinated? This is my first attempt and I've been hand-pollinating every day for the past 4-5 days. It's now closed up so the opening is about 3/4".
Weathers getting cold and wet in the UK. I have no chance of collecting dahlia seeds esp. if I leave the petals on the plant (as the petals are wilting from the base and rotting) Is it ok to remove all of the petals off the dahlia and let the stem dry on the plant... will that still give me seeds ??
I bought some Dahlias plants in 3 litre pots from the garden centre and they are growing quite well and flowering, do I have to dig them up in winter ? I have never had Dahlias before so not sure what to do.
Very good to see this you make it easy to understand why I failed with seeds thank you

Yep if your soil gets below freezing in winter. Search you tube for videos about storing delhias in winter x

Sorry I do not sell my seeds
I don't really understand why rub them together?
To fertilize each other
It cross polinstes them to make seeds for a new variety of what you have crossed.

I am sure this is good information but it is hard to understand and I am not referring to his accent. He is just not speaking clearly.
