This news was music to my ears. The balance of the universe has been restored. We're going to be okay with that Lankinen-Silovs tandem. Lankinen is an upgrade from DeSmith. We still need to get Demko back but in the meantime we should be alright
The last 8 seasons have featured Connor Hellebuyck start for the Winnipeg Jets more regular-season games (RSGs) than any non-Hellebuyck goalie although the 2015-16 season had featured him otherwise also start at least 20 games. This season will be Hellebuyck’s 10th, following the 2014-15 one, to start double-digit NHL RSGs for the same team that drafted him assuming he is ready to go, the start of this coming regular season. Miikka Kiprusoff played nine seasons for the Flames but would’ve played 10 had it not been for the 2004-05 NHL lockout. it’s not easy to find goalies, who for a given Canadian NHL team, have played, at that level, for more than five seasons or so at a time. Of such non-Kiprusoff non-Hellebuyck goalies who (have) played regular-season games for at least five seasons at the NHL level I: - count, if having played for a Canadian team: - Felix Potvin, who played parts of eight seasons (1991-92 to 1998-99) for the Leafs - Freddie Andersen, who played five straight seasons for the Leafs and more games during the regular season in each than any non-Andersen goalie - Thatcher Demko, who has played in parts of seven seasons with the Canucks - will count, if he plays at least one regular-season game this season, Anton Forsberg, as he has already played parts of four seasons under contract to the Sens and has played in multiple regular-season games during each of those seasons at the NHL level
I'm such a typical Canucks fan lol. I was just worrying about what was going to happen without an experienced starter this season. Now I've moved on to worrying about what will happen when Demko comes back and there's the three goalie problem. I guess it is in the nature of Hockey fans to always worry about the next move haha.
A guy like this is what Leafs needed. Sorry but Stolarz is not going to cut it down there. Woll is too green right now. But i like that we have him here and under $1 M.

@@DoughEditz72 Basically he either sign for a loser team for $2m, or sign for a contender for less. Seems like Vancouver is going to give him 20-40 games this year. Demko will take as much time as he needs to recover.
overall winning record in nhl career + 3 shutouts = sucks? no, a losing record & no shutouts means you suck *conclusion lankinen does not suck (he’s not a starter, but they’re not expecting him to be, & should certainly be able to handle backup-backup position
Multiple reports saying he’s on the right track and is getting better. This is a great signing since he probably will need to wait till mid November to come back so this gives you a decent tandem that can get you some wins till then. For 875 I’ll definitely take it
@generalimlerith8356 Well he's an NHL experienced player and we would've risked having Patera or Tolopilo as a Silovs backup until Demko comes back so yeah it is a W. Any other questions?
this is really a no brainer since canucks new goalie coach coached lankinen before going into the nhl.
The stress level of Canucks fans and GMs who need to get a 3rd goalie through waivers just went down a few notches.

If it wasn't for his second season stats on super crappy Blackhawks team his numbers would look much better.
Not sure how some say he sucks….he posts an above 900 save percentage on a team that plays good defence like Vancouver he could post a great season.
I love it but worried about demko

Time for a mask update, welcome to the Canucks baby!
I wonder how Dylan Ferguson feels about this? Probably thinking "Bye bye job..."

Lets go Lankey!!
“That’s what we’ve been waiting for, that’s what it’s all about” 😂😂
Thanks 😊
Jesse Pinkman level cooking here 😂
says a lot he wouldn't goto Edmonton
Who did he play against?
Ahhh!! This is Frikkin amazing news!! Thank you Jesus!!
I really like this signing
And if demko is out longer then expected….maybe we see what we can get for demko….
1970 -20 @#$ I'll be dead 💀
I think this will be great until Demko can play again
Will be great anyway. Imagine the trade deadline. Contending Teams would potentially be willing to give up a second for a quality backup
This people can’t make up thier I making wrong decisions, always bit you in your behind,
WTF is happening with Thatcher Demco?
So whatever 3rd string guy n had silovs 2 other quality ahl guys didn't need him But there we are
Drop the goofy, wimpy wooo!

Dumpster fire, lottery team
Oilers are a dumpster fire team 🤣
Hes not that good Lego theres a reason no other team signed this guy cause he sucks
Lego my eggo...I think you might be right there, son.
No one else signed him because he wanted 2m and no good teams had cap space for him. He already stated he wanted to play on a contender

You know this means Demko isn’t healthy….not sure I’d be so excited.
We always knew Demko wasn’t healthy. The Canucks have publicly announced it.

I don't like this at all, but I hope Silovs and everyone on the team will rise to the occasion to help keep his spot that he earned...IMO he did.
Why don’t u like it? Silovs is way better off playing tons of games in the ahl
Silovs has 9 regular season games... Can't really say I trust him to be the starter this season.
@@darkvaderofjapan yep and he’s only 23. He needs a lot of games to develop, sitting on the bench is not helping him
@darkvaderofjapan hopefully Silovs will build off the 9 regular season games when Lankinen is his back up. Silovs is my quarterback!!! Lol!!!

No it's going from Tolepilo as a backup to Lankinen as a backup. We knew for a while now that Demko wasn't coming back yet and Silovs has to start.
Its a W because we now have Demko, Silovs, Lankenin, Tolopilo, Fergusen etc. Its not like Demko passed away and we got lankenin
