This is so good of you to do, Jean! I think it's great when any BookTuber talks about self-published books but you in particular have such a big platform so kudos for sharing the indie and self-published love!
I'm so thrilled to hear about self published fantasy authors! I love the self publishing community but it can be hard to find the diamonds in the rough sometimes. Trad published for me also tend to be diamonds in the rough, but at least I can get them from the library before deciding to buy them.
This is a great video topic! I bought one of them and then got a few more for free with Amazon Prime. The only one I'd already read is Eragon, and that was a long time ago.
So, I just wrote a long bit basically thanking you for your praise of SP books, and not treating them like a different species and explaining why more people should read them... and lost the whole damn lot! Anyway, SP is awesome (mostly) just like the trad pub is awesome (mostly). 1000's are dirt cheap or free and still good-excellent, and quality is not as bad as people seem to make out across the board. I may come back and write it all again at another time lol! TFS :)
These all sound fantastic, I'm definitely putting Grace Draven and Emma Hamm on my radar! And I read it a few years ago, but I remember The Dark Wife by Sarah Diemer being very good? It's a Hades/Persephone f/f retelling ❤
Another indie author whom I have come to respect for his unique style of writing is Mutch Katsonga. The first book I read by him was THE GHOST YEARS. This was soon followed by BEYOND THE SPIRAL GATES, WHERE WILDFIRES GLOW and THE MELANCHOLY HISTORY OF MAYFLY.
Have you read Ruth Nestvolds books? Her novel Yseult was published conventionally but her second novel in that unfinished chronicles, Shadow of Stone, she published herself. It's a beautiful retelling of the story of Tristan and Isolde combined with the legend of King Arthur.
I love this list!! Do you have advice on where to get Here the World Entire? It's not currently available on Amazon and I cannot find it in the Kobo store either.
They only have the kindle ebook on amazon but you can get it in physical form here: www.lulu.com/gb/en/shop/anwen-kya-hayward/here-the-world-entire/paperback/product-22988922.html :) hope that helps
It is so great to see that you channel encourages self-published authors as well. Will check these recommendations out for sure. A recommendation: Beth Hodgson's FRAGMENTS OF LIGHT (currently free on Kindle Unlimited in UK), which is an Epic Cyberpunk Fantasy novel and is the first installment of the intended series, THE SPECTRUM OF MAGIC, www.thespectrumofmagic.com. One of the most richly imaginative books on my shelf.
If you haven't already, you should give A Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter a try. It's a Xhosa inspired fantasy (that heavily features dragons) which was originally self-published and recently picked up by and published by Tor. I think you would really enjoy it.
My favourite self-published book is Weak Heart by Ban Gilmartin! It takes place on a scottish island, and there are selkies and wizards and almost every character is lgbt+! You should give it a go!
Mainly just through recommendations on booktube or goodreads lists of ‘myth retellings’ or ‘fantasy romances’ - I never even pay attention to whether they are self published aha
If you do a search for self-publishing companies some of their sites have a "bookstore" as well as selling through amazon. For example I self-published through Xlibris a few years ago and if you go to xlibris.com you can search their books, or can also find them on amazon. Or even doing an amazon "self-punblished+GENRE" should bring up some options.

Thank you! I’ve been looking for some more good self published books! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes! So glad you mentioned Grace Draven. I totally picked up Radiance because you rave about it. ☺️☺️

I really need to read Eragon and the whole series. Been on my list for ages

Loved Radiance! A no angst romance:)
Rare!

I love Eragon too! Is it wrong to say that I really enjoy Durza's character?
How do you find self published books? I'm totally interested in getting into them and you've giving me some great starting points

LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! Check out PS FORGIVE MY ADOLESCENCE!!! It’s not a perfect book as far as typos go, BUT THE STORY WILL BLOW YOU AWAY!!!
A.W. Exley is my favorite self published author. Start with artifact hunters, it's amazing.
