First section of the video actually is the original version of L'Estasi dell'Oro (The Ecstasy of Gold) by Ennio Morricone from the film The Good, The Bad and The Ugly with Clint Eastwood
I cringe so bad when he said Kanye, Morricone is one of the most legendary composers, Kanye seems to be stealing others work though, sounds like it at least.
I cant believe y'all found this and covered it!!!! Incredible footage. Tom and I still watch it occasionally. Saw them in concert with our son a few years back, and he opens every concert with this song ❤
I grew up in the 80s early 90s. I'm convinced that it wasn't Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher that brought down the Iron Curtain. It's was Levi's and rock and roll. Capture the you, capture the future.
Jean-Michel Jarre’s concert of 1997 was the largest concert ever. Over 3.5 million people attended. Immediately following the Oxygene tour, Jean-Michel Jarre was hired by the mayor of Moscow to put on a sensational show in celebration of Moscow’s 850th anniversary. The massive attendance surpassed expectations, with audience members flocking to see the concert set against the impressive backdrop of the State University of Moscow. Rod Stewart's New Year's Eve concert in 1994 at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. An estimated 3.2 - 3.5 million attended.
You have to remember, the Berlin Wall just fell in '89, along with the Soviet Union, these people were HUNGRY for western music, culture, etc. They hopes were a move to a more western Democracy...that never materialized. Only for a few.
Today's "artists" are so impressed with themselves when they fill out one stadium w/60k people...there are more Russians at this concert than the entire population of Phoenix, AZ. THIS is why we old guys say, "yeah, music today suxx." :)
The KINGS of Music and live gigs…🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘….react to “Master of Puppets” live in Manchester 2019 perfomed in heavy rain ( epic performance) but still flawlessly while 75,000 fans go ALL IN🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Let me tell you, these times were not normal! There is a documentary on Netflix, I saw a few years ago, that told the story ofa few american buisness men(not the so legal buisness). Everyone wanted to make quick money after the fall of the soviet union and the military had a crazy backyard sale! One hundred helicopters for 100$ each and 150$, if you wanted them full armed! 😂 One guy wanted to buy a submarine(nuclear powered) for the mexican cartel and they asked him if he wants it full armed(also nuclear). For less than 100k! 🤷🏼♂️ Crazy times!
They actually stopped counting at 1.6 million and it could easily surpass 2 million. They sent Metallica just a little while after the fall of the Soviet Union. Nobody understood English either and some people/fan’s of mentallica Luca said they learned English from their songs😂
10:10 PlayStation 2 is relatively easy to get the games are possible too, but yeah guitar controller is the difficult part...wired is my preference... they do have some of the games that were brought over to PS3 also... the same issue with the controller tho
Pantera played right before them and, as Dimebag walked offstage, he said to Metallica's lead guitar player Kurt, "Follow that". I like to believe he said that out of love for Metallica and the fact that those humans gathered there needed and earned everything those bands gave them.
❤This was a HUGE deal because it was the 1st free concert held in Moscow, Russia But the REASON it was such a big deal is because "Monsters of Rock" (the outdoor concert) took place a few months before the Soviet Union dissolution... The concert was held in September 1991 The Soviet Union collapsed in December, 2 .months later- that's why you see the military police ❤❤❤
This video takes different meaning once you know all these people were cheering for what they were brainwashed to hate. A human unity experience with the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Um, opening is Enrico Morricone ecstacy of gold from spaghetti westerns ft. Clint Eastwood. Not 😂 kanye or jay-z tho they sampled it. Metallica opens most shows with it
Guitar hero: 👀😝😝🤣🤘🏻🩶🖤💯🫶🏻☝🏻🫵 yall youngins b killing me lol need some culture born 1979 . And it’s probably the most commercially successful Metallica song

My grandmother was a huge fan of Clint Eastwood westerns so every time I hear Metallica and the ecstasy of Gold I think about her
No its Kanye
I cringe so bad when he said Kanye, Morricone is one of the most legendary composers, Kanye seems to be stealing others work though, sounds like it at least.
@@mjdillaha 🤣
We ALL know that,but thanks
Rumor is people are still looking for where they parked
😅😅😅🔝💯🙌
The intro is originally from the movie The Good The Bad and The Ugly
This is what a crowd of 1.6 MILLION people looks like.
1.3 or 1.6??? People always say these 2 numbers. Lol
I've heard 3 million also. Heard after the first 1.5 million they lost control of the crowd. Also this is one concert I wouldn't wanna be front row
It was actually 7 million
overinflated number
@@RoverWaters it was actually 9 million

Read somewhere they used the helicopters to push oxygen through the crowd. W vid, much appreciated :)
LoL,good one
The opening track is Ennio Morricone - Metallica opened with their cover of “Ecstasy of Gold” for years
“Creeping Death” by Metallica same concert hear 1.6 mil ppl chant Die, Die, Die, Die 🔥👊🏻🤘🏻
You may be cool, but you will never be cool enough to get 1.6 million Russians to chant “DIE!!”
Never
no one ever reported 1.6 million spectators at that Metallica show
RoverWaters - Only every single TV and radio station in that time, many video footages later and yes band members alone confirmed it multiple times
@@InfamousB99 prove it
@@RoverWaters Type James Hatfield talks about Moscow show,it's literally hundreds of videos of it
From this same Monsters of Rock festival…Pantera- Domination!
I’m half Russian. My uncle was there. Said it was unlike anything he ever experienced. It was amazing he said.
When you understand the whole story behind this concert, it's enough to make a grown man cry.
Metal. Love it. Live it. Best community in the whole world. My 1st Metallica show was November 1983, Berkeley, Ca. Bay Area Thrash for life!
I grew up in the 80s early 90s.

The sheer amount of people is insane.

Imagine having to go No2 and you're in the mid section.
🤣 that would suck.
Just gotta sh!t yourself atp!!!
No2 🤣
You all have to catch a live show sometime! I know the tickets are steep but they are still incredible live every time!

They are on tour right now I was in 1981 grew up with them my favorite band ever also 1.3 million people at the concert. The big 4 where there ❤
You are wrong. Only 1 of the big 4 played. Metallica!!!
Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax weren't on the bill.
Please don't post incorrect info.
Good grief the traffic was terrible. I just got home! 😎
😅😆👍👍🙌
Apparently there's people still trying to get out of the parking lot from that show LOL
Y'all need to peep harvester of sorrow and creeping death from this concertt
Lol... It's crazy that Creeping Death is just the story of Passover. Genius
Can't help but think Flawd wishing he had hair to head bang like that. 😂😂😂
Good content!!!
The Cree0ing Death performance blows that one away
So dope! Great reaction ♥️
This show would have been lit, first song I learned to play on guitar with master off puppets right after
"The day the world took a dark turn" is wild!😂😂😂
Ironically, today, I learned Metallica co-owns a vinyl pressing plant in Va.
They own all their masters as well. That's why they were so outspoken about Napster

Right before the USSR fell... I remember this. I was a kid.
They were actually there to play The Sandman to the ring, but the crowd was so big, Hak passed out drunk before he hit the ring.
🔥🔥🔥
Intro is Ennio Morricone
When are we getting Mic Righteous part 2 FITB??

This is what "a sea of people" really looks likw
This was the first concert from the west after ther fall of the Soviet union.
42. Omg he said Kanye. In 1991. Perhaps not in right mind?
The best video to demonstrate the vibe at the place would be "Metallica - Harvester Of Sorrow - Live in Moscow, Russia (1991) [Pro-Shot]"
React to the creeping death and fade to black from the same concert
Do Creeping Death off Ride the Lightning. And Fade to Black. Metallica was the truth.
