      I have tried Tibetian ones and anyone with a sane tastebud can tell the difference between them.
      -
      They incorporate minimal spices and doesnt come with a tomato chutney.
      While Nepali one have tons of spices which suits the South Asian palate and it surely is the reason which made it stand out than its tibetian counterpart.
      -
      We undoubtedly inherited momo from Tibetian culture but also modified it as according to our preference. It is safe to say it as a different dish inspired from Tibet. Naming it a Nepali-Tibetian would do no harm i think.

    The highest end of asian dumplings / dim sums has requirements that you should ground the meat by knife and take extraordinary care of the consistency of the mince (not too smooth nor too rough). And one should knead the dough by hands as well to feel the moist and the general bounciness. A dumpling/bun shop, that uses machines to mix the dough and to ground the meat, will barely see any customers in Asia. I've not tried this place and I can't assert how it tastes, but in Asia, if you're using machines to do the essential tasks, you can't claim it to be natural.

      I say thats bullcrap. Let me tell you the real one, Newari traders use to travel to Lhasa for business, and they saw momo there, from there the recipe was passed on to nepal through the traders. Not something like Disney cartoon, they met and made momo together lol. Its just a google search away. Lastly Momo is a Tibetan dish and a Tibetan word, with nothing to do with Nepal. The recent times Nepali people have come up with fusion like JHOL MOMO and all that. I rest my case here.

Because momo got popular from Nepal and Nepali people spread it in India Tibetan is calling it as Tibetan momo. If you go to Tibet you won’t find same recipe momo there. The Tibetan living in India and Nepal are used to spices we eat so they started making similar recipe as Nepali momo.

      Momo is Tibetan dish became popular in Nepal from Tibetan refugges. If Momo origin were as you said then Nepali and those bordering Nepal such as Bihar, UP and West Bengal should have tasted it before Tibetan refugees.
      Even in India Momos were relatively unknown in India. The only Indians who knew were Delhi University whose campus is close proximity to Delhi Tibetan colony known as Majnu Ka Tilla. Before many student from Delhi University and Rickshaw and Auto drivers who ply their services around Majnu Tilla.
      Momo became known throughout India after social media and smartphone culture.

      Thanks for your insight. But I am a Tibetan and as long as I remember from my great grandparents till now we have never had dhapu (What’s that ?) ..but mo mo all the way and we have a traditional steam bun called ting mo mo which in Tibetan ting means steamed mo mo bun. I would love to hear from your information sources . And what is the meaning of the term momo in Nepalese if it’s invented there . If it’s taken from China it shud be called 饺子 Jiaoxi not Mo Mo.

    • @RabinsXP
      @RabinsXP 2 года назад

      @@kii8550 Here’s a quick note for you. Momo still was/is a luxurious food in Tibet. Momo dumplings are made of Flour. There is no any cultivation of Flour in Tibet and surrounding areas of Tibet. And this is much older than your grandfather’s grandfathers too. It’s invented in Kathmandu valley by Newars and they introduced in Tibet. It’s ancient and original name is Mamacha in Newari and later the word got corrupted into Ma Ma and then again corrupted into MoMo.
      FYI: No rice is still grown in Tibet. And you can still find Dhapu around Boudhanath stupa where most of the Tibetan refugee live who carried Dhapu with themselves too.

      Obviously it's not their first language so everyone make mistakes with pronunciation just like how some Nepalese pronounce English word completely different frm how it supposed to be

    Eh.... they're ok. They're definitely not as good as a great Chinese dumpling, especially the xiao long bao.
