I dehydrate my food scraps in the oven and then grind them up and add coffee/tea, dried banana peels and dried crushed egg shells. I make a Supermix and mix it into the soil. I didn’t know you could make a compost tea out of it. I like it. I could do both. 👍👍
This was the most simple compost video, I don’t have room to store a brewing bucket, I have compost containers and wormbins no room for anything else. I’m seriously working hard to balance living soil and love the ability to use kitchen scraps in other forms.
This is me work smarter and not harder love it. Even some of the organic fertilizer are suspect based on USA FDA murky guidelines.
I've been doing it all wrong😬. I was just blending it all up and simply dumping it around my trees. They didn't seem to complain and liked it because they gave me crazy amounts of fruit. This year I must've had some watermelon seeds left after blending. I had watermelon vines around my trees everywhere. I left them alone and grew my first watermelons🤷🏼♀️. Nature is amazing!
It's not wrong, it's still adding nutrients, the additional steps in the videos helps to increase microbial activity
@@DaisyCreekFarms Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my comment. I will definitely try your recommended way. I'm always learning. 💗
Doesn't sound wrong to me! Sounds like it worked great. God bless you and your garden
Thank you for this excellent video
@weallmadhere I like your method. The least amount of work I need to do, the better 😁
Wow I I been doing this all along and my family thought I was crazy and to tell you the truth I thought I was kind of crazy. So I learned after all I was on the right track!!!👍👍😇
Love how simply you explained it!
Best ever videos on how to look after and get the best from your garden soil. Thanks so much!
Going outside now to rake up all the dead fallen leaves
Excellent as always. Your videos are educational and useful.
We love doing this. Thanks for sharing this info.
We do strain our tea and use a liquid fertilizer applicator attached to a hose to apply the diluted concentrate.
Wow. I've seen people talk about using compost tea but you've made the process look so possible for me. You said we could store the compost tea concentrate for 6 months but how long should we let it steep before starting to use it? I love that you're focused on feeding the soil instead of the plants; I've found the best gardeners do!
Let the concentrate steep for atleast 2 days.
You are vary smart man and your grandpa sounds like he was brilliant as well I love your videos
This is an idea I had in mind but now I know "exactly" how it can be done. Also I learned about "feeding the microbes": a big bonus! Thank you soooooo much!😃😃
i'm so exited to find you. you give simple information and it makes so much sense that i feel confidence for once about taking care of my garden Thank you
Glad you liked the video!
Great info Jag. Hopefully I can get this done before my wife wonders where the blender is. :)
Welcome to the world of David The Good's fetid swamp water! Take this to the next level by getting a large bucket or barrel and basically doing the same thing, but also adding in weeds. I will blend up bones from roasted chicken (since they're relatively soft) in my blendtec and at them to the barrel to get a big infusion of phosphorus
You can keep adding to it over time. You can stir the liquid and get as much liquid as you need to make your tea. The Koreans use this method also and say that the longer you keep the barrel going, the better it gets!
Thank you Daisy,my husband don’t like my idea making compost so this is great .I have to do it,❤
this is fantastic!!
This is great thanks a bunch!!!!
I always learn A LOT from your videos. I decided to go all organic so you can imagine how pumped in feeling right now. 😀Thanks for sharing this amazing video.
great video!!
Excellent video
Thank you
I just found your channel! You have great information!
Glad you like the videos!
That sounds easier than composting, got to try it
I thought about doing this so I'm glad to see pro gardeners actually do this and I'm not crazy
Compost tea has negligible amounts of plant available NPK, so don't waste your time. Were all a little crazy & disinformation certainly doesn't help 😅
Very very nice thank you very much for your suggestion
Mind blowing sir
Great spirit thank you
I’m learning so much from you. I wish I could visit your garden, sounds and looks amazing. Thank you for helping me understand how to make compost tea. I have banana peels in water and that’s as far as I’ve gotten! Waiting for the deals on organic fruit and veg at the supermarket then will add to the banana water 👩🌾
Thank you for sharing. New subscriber from Nigeria.🙏
Thanks for subscribing!
I love the simplicity of your method. Please what are the optimal conditions for storing the compost tea concentrate? Thank you.
Good job 👍
Great
Amazing information. Thank you! What kind of blender is that?
Great info Jag. I appreciate your short but very informative videos you go straight to the point. As a very busy person I always appreciate short but straightforward videos. New subscriber here!
I have been wanting to try making compost tea. Thank you for this very clear information!
Greetings from Canada Jag. My question is, I start my seedlings indoors under lights. Would there be any issue with fungus gnats using this technique? You have a great channel and I hope you are recovering from the flood. Wishing you well this season.
Fungus gnats is always the issue. I have a video on how to control fungus gnats ruclips.net/video/_3BAW3x3574/видео.html
Floods have receded, farm is back to normal now, thank you for the support!
Does it matter if the produce is going bad, starting to decay or has signs of mold already??
Like all the information that you share- very educational and informative.

How long does it have to sit before you can use it. Love your vids - so helpful when I don’t have a lot of money.
Man, I found your channel and I don't follow anyone else anymore, I unfollowed them because I have everything on your channel. THANK YOU for explaining so simply, comprehensibly and sharing a lot of knowledge. I don’t yet have a garden but want to have one if Allah gives, I learned a lot.
Wow, thanks for the compliment, glad you like the videos!
hi,ive been watching your videos and enjoy them thank you for sharing your knowledge about nature,i have one question after you make the compost tea how long does it take and store them before you can use it,thank you and more power
Can we use this compost for indoor plants? Thank you very much for this informative video.
You can but it may smell really bad
In summer I dig the garden and drop all my scrap there and bury it , in the winter here in Minneapolis is hard because out side it freezes ! I dry my egg shell and banana peels in the over and ground it for using in my flower pots in spring 🤷🏼♀️would you have any idea how we can compost in the -10 F ? I have to take my coffee ground out in to the garage and it freeze until may 🤷🏼♀️
Healthy for the plants. 🌱
Thank you for this video. Really appreciate, it's great. Like another commenter I also would like to know how soon after making it can this compost tea be used on the garden? Also can you keep adding new material to the original batch, i.e. keep topping it up, or does each fresh made batch need to be put into a separate bottle. Thanks 😊
You can use it 2 days after making the concentrate. Sorry, forgot to mention this. Yes, you can keep adding more to the concentrate.
@@DaisyCreekFarms Thank you very much. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.
Greetings from Melbourne, Australia. 😀
Great video👍, can we keep green tea concentrate outside or should we keep it in fridge?
Thank for this, a question, I did the same but used a wide mouth jar, after a week or so, the top of the solution turned to white mold. What happened? Could it be that too much air was circulating in the jar? Is it still ok to use? Can I just true the mold part away and use the rest?
I love this idea! Should the concentrate be stored outside? Sun or Shady area? Can it be refrigerated?
store outside
Is it better for the concentrate to sit before using?
Thanks for sharing!
How soon after making the fertilizer can I utilize it to make the compost tea?
After 2 days
@@DaisyCreekFarms Thanks 😊
OK I've just made my first bucket full of this tea. I estimate it'll be used it up in about a month. What about if I keep topping it off with "freshly made" tea, will the "shelf life" be extended? 2 years or more?
How soon can i start using the compost tea concentrates after finished blending it?
Hi,can I use any kitchen scraps including ginger, garlic, onions and cloves please? Thanks.
from U k 😍👌
how long does it take for the effect to take place?
How long to keep blended tea in gallon before use?
I am not sure if I caught this, do you let your compost tea right away or do you let it set for a while? I am making my own compost in trash cans but they are full now. So I want to keep using my scraps and this seems to be a great way to keep it going. Thank you
Let the concentrate sit for atleast 3 days. You can keep the concentrate for upto a year. From concentrate you can use right away after diluting aerating the compost tea.
Ok.please help. I live in Florida, and when there's no grass to cut I have a 5-gallon bucket I keep water in and I get like you did vegetable scraps I dehydrate a lot so I'll get scraps onion scraps carrots whatever and I've been grinding them up in a blender and then I've been adding it to this 5 gallon bucket of water and I just keep adding and then I use out of it and then I add more water and add more ground vegetables, and get a jug and pour it on my plants or on my garden getting it ready for spring. Now I was looking into whether you can add any baking soda or Epsom salt to it and someone said that if you let it sit like that that you're going to grow bacteria and get e-coli. So now I'm freaking out I've just mixed it in with all my soil and topsoil getting my garden ready. Have I really messed up or what??
Hi Jag i love your Smile
you are looking lovely like my Brother God bless you always xxx
Where in the US do you have your garden
You mention rinsing the milk jug prior to use...just curious - wouldn't leaving a bit of milk help to jump start different microbes? I'm just thinking about yogurt/probiotics/etc, but I don't know the first thing about this. Thanks for a great tutorial!!
Milk goes rancid fast and smells really bad especially if you age and brew the compost tea, that's the only reason.
@@DaisyCreekFarms That makes sense. Thank you 😊
Hi, does it matter if i don't have all the kitchen scraps you have put in the blender to make this tea recipe? I dont eat watermelon often thus i don't have watermelon scraps, i mean as long if i have any fruit and vegetable waste i can make this tea right?
Thanks
It is differentially the cycle of live!
Can I use tea can you please let me know
I wonder if it's a good idea to add a little cow or chicken manure into the compost tea?
What about trees? Can i use it also for trees or need different method to make compost tea?
Yes you can use it for trees.
I didn't catch if it has to be refrigerated or stored at room temp.
After mixing your ingredients for your tea, how long do you let it sit before steeping it?
Concentrate you can use from day 3 to upto a year. After you steep it in the bucket to aerate it, use within 4 hours.
@@DaisyCreekFarms Thank you. Will be making some of this. Ive done banana tea and comfrey tea, but not a good mix one like that. 👍
Quick question. Can I just pour the mixture from the blender straight into the soil and cover it up, so it will be ready in no time?
Yes you can, however, wait about a week to plant in the same spot.
@@DaisyCreekFarms Thanks.
it has to be used in four hours you said you use a week later?
I would like to know is it supposed to smell bad after keeping it for about 2weeks?
Yes, it does smell bad, it is suppose to.
What about green tea?
Can you add oranges to compost?
Of course. Some people say citrus peels scare away earthworms. Personally, I don't think it matters much - worst case, they will be decaying for a little bit longer. Microorganisms in the compost pile will take care of it sooner or later.
How long does the compost need to steep before using it?
The concentrate for about 2 days, you can keep it upto a year
This wasn’t well explained in the video
Jag just goes from tea to tea concentrate. 😮
Isn’t it better, to water the soil first?
I think I missed the steeping part of the video. Would you clear that up for me please.
Most of us have chlorine and chloramines in our tap water. So using it directly to dilute the solution may kill the microbs??? We should at least let the water sit because the chlorine will dissipate after a few hours, although chloramines will not. To be safe I added a little "tap water conditioner" for aquarium fish before use.
Jag you look better unshaved!
:)
I have a question what about fertilizing home mix (i,e. perlite peatmoss and such) ?
It is great tea but why is it tea without tea leaves ! 😄
Sir may I ask a question ? Are you belong to India or something like that. You look like indian actually who lives in other country
Put it in the fridge
Its anaerobic...go ahead but u will end up tossing the fridge as that stink wont leave...smells really really bad
No, please don't, the idea is to promote microbial activity. Store in in the garage or on the side of the house.
Too complicated, sorry.
You should have thrown the paper towel in, as well.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Jag. I used to work at a Tattoo shop in the 90's called JAG's Tattoos in Oregon lol
lol cool
@@DaisyCreekFarms I am definitely learning from you brother. You have a wealth of knowledge that we all need. "Save the Soil!"
Great tip on how to regrow lettuce 🥬 😊
