Just to clarify something for this job:
This shows how to turn the caliper piston back inward when you have the electric parking brake.
If you DON’T have the electric parking brake you will need to turn the rear piston back in while pressing on them.

Is there another way to detract the electronic emergency brake?? I know under the center console is a thingy that you pull up on so vehicle can be towed. I WONDER if that will bypass or disengage the emergency brake so I can do the work myself. Even if I bring it to the shop, I am thinking they KNOW a way to make it work without replacing the darn stock radio @ $1500 or more due to inflation! lol Any help is appreciated.

There are some people that unplug that motor on the caliper and stick a 9V battery on it to retract it. I’ve never done that and I would be VERY careful. Theoretically, putting the 9V one way on the wires will push it out. Swap the wires and it SHOULD go in. This is not how I would do it, but I’ve read about this method before.

If you’re talking about grinding the brake pad ears, it might not be necessary if your new pads fit well. Some of the pads I buy aren’t perfectly manufactured and need minor trimming. You can also use a file to trim the pads a little bit. What you’re doing with that part is making sure that the pads are not binding (getting stuck) in their mounts. They need to be snug but also move freely so they don’t get stuck “on” the rotor and burn up the pads too quickly.
