All these could be avoided if government if does it duty this is sheer negligence bygovt this is not natural disaster but caused by neglecting a dam for so many years thinking nothing go happen but poor man dey suffer for nigeria sha
What would have been better. Getting a functional and a reinforced dam or doling out palliatives in an unnecessary crisis management. A lazy excuse is to always blame climate change for incompetence.
The ministry of waters management, and maintenance team should be up to date with community services utilities contractors, in ensuring that, health and dangerous incidents, like dam collapse are prevented. One of the pillars built, to bunker water spillage looks like a old cannon statue, water front wall built during the colonial days. Importantly, the second wall serves as an important dam protecting the city of Maiduguri, but apparently from the news reel, report thay were prevented from carrying out media investigation to establish the extent of the damage, including the issue of determining whether this incident was an act of terrorism. Rest assure, local insurgency have had their last domain, hideout in this city and any future prospects of recruiting local, unemployed persons into criminal activities.
What do you mean 'you were not allowed to film' - it's a dam, not a military instalation! Who didn't allow you to film? Why didn't they allow you to film?? The report states that the collapsed dam has 'evidently been abandoned for years' - You are a news channel! Aren't you supposed to find out if it really HAS been abandoned for years and WHY?? The problems of the country are right in front of us but the people who are supposed to enquire into them, who are supposed to bring awareness to them and call for accountability aren't doing their jobs! What then is the point??
'Will the authorities do the right thing, only time will tell' - Clearly YOU won't.. Clap for yourselves, another pointless day at the office. Pathetic.
So pathetic. Listening to a leader mentioning problems without any strategic solutions with time frame. This is a dam that was not well managed. A dam that should be of better use for farmers. O ga oo
My condolences to the Government and people of Borno State on the recent flooding that almost enveloped the State. May you all find consolation in The Great Allah. May He strengthen you all . Be blessed. Emmanuel Atuchukwu

If this govt can't function in the most sensitive areas of our country just humbly step down 😏
Just imagine the nonsense, dams don't just fail, they fail gradually.
What would have been better.
