- Welcome to Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Heroes of the Inner Sphere" Playthrough. In this video I will show you the gameplay of a full missions as well as the MechLab where you customize your Battlemechs. Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries is a game about stompy Mech action. You take command of a mercenary company and try to grow your income, salvage Mechs and hire Mechwarriors. The game includes a campaign with a vast storyline.
The gameplay is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

If you hit Q on the start map after selecting a mission it will tell you who the contracts are for. Could save you a trip to a location with missions for factions you don't want to play against.

Same, there are some graphical things like the sky box is a little bit pixelated. Oh and I can't customize as much as I would like. Would love to change up my engines for my urbies hahah. But yeah it feels damn good to play a proper Mech game in the console again

That Willman assassination mission ticked me off, too! Exact same scenario for me. I have been looking for a Hunchback for the last two weeks to fulfill a cantina quest with no luck. Seeing this today made me made all over again, LOL!
You have to set weapon groups for the NPC mechs in your Lance. It greatly helps their damage output. They prioritize by the group #, starting at 1 and going up. Ie: set your LRMs highest, and medium lasers at like 1. You'll notice the difference in the first mission.
I like the DLC caused to to reinstall the game and Im hooked.
Bara, I know I'm an episode or two behind but you should grab a Firestarter H. Machine guns x2 ammo x2, small SB lasers x6, max armor and the rest cooling. It has fantastic pinpoint damage that can rapid fire point blank and cannot overheat. It shreds things. I also use it to run raid missions solo. Run in, pop targets, get out. Getting 2-3 million for a fast 5 minute run.
Or drop the msg and have 2x ML and more jump jets. Works just as well, but has more range and not ammo reliant.
I didn't get this game because of the issues at launch, but with this last release, I went for it. So glad I did! It's not perfect, it does the important things really well.

That Vulcan turned out to be one of our greatest assets. We have female Mechwarrior Bradshaw piloting it. She's so consistent, it's uncanny.
Finally got the game running late last night. I love most of the changes in the update. You should point out some of those changes. I'm a big fan of the News Net, the new mission map format, the new loading screens, and AI and spawning are also much improved. Tell us what you like that's new in the update.
The News Net is amazing, it's like a wet dream of a nerd in me! Now all those little lore details have actually place in a timeline -- and suddenly, all the fighting makes sense!

Just found a Jenner-P and loaded it with 4x small SB lasers and an srm2. It comes with a MASC II so running more raids solo with it. Runs at 170 kph. MASC in, boom, boom, MASC out, profit.
Higher tier MGs might be worth it for the additional range. The range seems to go up a fair bit.
I thought they would get rid of the level ZONE and have all kind of mission level in the same zone. So you could focus on working for a single faction instead of having low level mission near your start and having to move out for higher level mission. Plus having low level industrial Hub, it's bad. I feel its the same as doing the based game quest without the quest. Having mission where you'd come in as a low tier unit to backup a high tier unit would also be fun. Just support the main squad.

When playing Career Mode it seems more difficult than Campaign to start out. Assasination missions seem brutal if you are using the starting lance (especially Davion with 2 Locusts). I like it, but just need to get craftier with my missions and use more scrutiny when choosing missions.
I also think its a little hard to start, you really don't have many resources,
I rand a Urbie mech with (heavy rifle, small laser) for i don't know many missions(plus 3 team mates).
beside that its very slow, it was very devastating for light mech.
rifles are really fun you just don't have to be to trigger happy.
I have MW5, but I didn't know the DLC was out until I saw your first video earlier today. I will be getting it soon though.

As to repair at a hub or repair in the field, if the travel cost and time cost is less than the cost in the field, I'll make the travel especially if it's only one jump. And sometimes you'll find cool toys at the hub, so there's that...
DLC has be digging the game again I like running my unit from the ground up. Got me dropping other games to jump back in and play that is for sure. They picked a good time to drop the DLC there is nothing out there right now.

I am loving the DLC. I bot it bundle on GoG. Also as someone who is also doing House Davion. I too got that mission and just like you. Not enough for the hunchback. A real slap in the face.

I'm playing this on Xbox. I'm enjoying it so far playing solo. Haven't played the dlc yet. Last Mech game I played was MechAssault and I can say I wish I had a good PC to have really enjoyed the series. I found you trying to find helpful builds and enjoyed your content with commentary.
All you really need is a 7th gen intel and an rx570 and 8 gigs of system memory
Like you touched upon, I feel like it is only worth traveling to industrial for repair when you have major repairs to do. Basically you leverage the additional cost for the conflict zone against your travel costs. Minor repairs you might as well just take the penalty and repair up if you have other contracts in the system.
Just got the game yesterday and started today, I have to say; the reviews for this really don’t portray how much fun you can have with this game if you go beyond the surface level flaws
Is it really fun? I'm here to see the gameplay, but seeing this video, to be honest, it seems to lacking the fun area, especially the combat. I'm not sure about the management thing, but the combat seems really2 simple and weak in visuals.
@@DisIngRaM the main problem I have personally is the economy and the tonnage limits, it means you will have to prioritise profits over salvage in the early game. Tonnage limits make it difficult sometimes to do missions like assassination. Other than that I think the combat is quite robust, certainly better than the run-of-the-mill fps.

Found a different vulcan with 4 medium energy and 1 small ballistic and outfitted it 4 sb mls and an ac/2-bf
It's a like a lighter centurion, and since relegated to npc control it hardly takes damage.

Something always worth taking imo is to at least put one point into damage coverage. That coverage amount is well worth the single point investment. Also, I wish they or a modder, would add the option to just buy the after mission salvage directly from the post mission screen for the listed C-Bill amount. I feel that would go a long way to alleviating the woes of having to travel around just to find stuff you're looking for..
I have enormous nostalgia for Battletech and Mechwarrior, but this doesn't look like a modern game. It looks like something from 5-6 years ago.

Cool game play man! Although the game has it's flaws, the mech combat gameplay IS VERY SOLID! And I think this DLC improved AI a lot! Cool stuff.

Watching this after watching the entire YAML & RoR series, as well as what there is so far of the YAML-RoR series, before this, I can only marvel at how much different the game has become just from a couple additional DLC's & some 3rd Party Mods. There are no numbers above the slots in each Mech part to tell you what you can put in there weapons-wise, for example. You have to take a weapon out to find out what that slot can hold, which is kind of jarring.
Got mw5 two weeks ago and been having a blast, will get the dlc tonight after work, I really only want the dlc for the updated ai so lancemates will stop going thru the building I am trying to protect, they do more damage than the enemies

I have to wait a couple of weeks before having spare funds for the DLC but it's definitely on the list! One downside at the moment though is that I can't even play the base game right now as I'm too used to the QoL mods and they're all broken last time I checked. Oh well, patience is a virtue, right?
I'm looking forwards to the new mode and mechs, the SB lasers also look to be perfect for my playstyle. Can't wait to load up a laser Hunchie again and go wreck some face! :D

Yo Baradul I think the best place for your face came is the right side. Dont think there's any info there. And where you keep it on the left side hides most of the market inventory. Hope it helps bro.
You need to search everywhere for the loot. Maps have them everywhere.

@Baradul, you mentioned head shots to salvage mechs. Last I checked, you have increased salvage odds if you destroy both legs. It's also good because doing so completely disables the mech and the pilot ejects; limiting damage to the remainder of the mech.

the bobbing on that vulcan is bad, but at least it came with SB lasers. the PHX bobs just as bad, but it's way harder to get consistent on target damage with full burn lasers
Got way more than I expected with the DLC! AI is better, interface is better, the enemies seem rougher. Great DLC

Btw if you start a new game, and skip the training mission, the new intro video is very nice.
I really want this DLC but i cant afford it right now :( , I enjoyed the base game and having a career mode like battletech is awesome! but ill probs play with mods to get more customisation on units perhaps. my one gripe with MW5 tho is that you can only salvage full mechs and not parts of mechs to build later if they can change that it would be awesome! its great to see to different weapon systems too!

@@r30413 nah mate. Been living a rather unorthodox life for better part of a decade so I'm restricted to phone for only a little while longer.
I've been enjoying it more. It feels a bit less grindy than it used to. Also, the new beachhead missions are fun and can be challenging.
Beachhead is definitely a great new mission type. We need more like those.
I have enjoyed it. Game feels a bit more tight now. And since last time I tried it Coop is a bit better. Wish they would allow you to vote on contracts or places to jump to though. I was also hoping (didn't watch anything) that beach head would be something like 2 bases with HP and kind of a npc spawning on both sides attacking. So it would feel like a warzone. But I have had fun with it so far.
why u sold the Urbie tho? i know it was a impulse decission, but in the long run, a support Platform, even if slower, had prob been more usefull than a faster but very flimsy frontliner (or am i overseeing something?) i mean sure, in certain missions the Locust might be more beneficial, but overall i would say a Urbie with an AC/5 or 2 plus laser had been better, no? anyways, as usualy i realy enjoy seeing u play Mech Games, BT was a great series, tho i admit when the heavy modding started it was over for me, to many lines and that color and mechanics overload was just to much for me tbh. ntl, u make for a hella good Mechjockey and i look forward to see more MW5 and even MWO vids ^^ stay well and best wishes for the family o/
Er large laser short burst is amazing, even low ranked ones are best in slot.
Legging an Urbanmech to slow it down seems kind of mean spirited. lol Like you're racing a guy in a leg brace, and you tie his shoe laces together.

I just got it working today (had some errors when loading I had to fix). I'm still using the starting lance but so far I really like it.
The Hub repair is less for armor refit and more for rebuilding damaged and salvaged mechs. Armor is cheap, Myomer isn't.

I like watching you play this, but I don't think I could see myself playing this before some real significant modding (like, Roguetech levels of modding). 75%ish of the fun I have from playing MW games is building mechs, and there's just not enough granularity in the mech customization to make me interested in putting down money yet. I played MW4 yeeeaaaaarrrrrsss after the fact because I had so much fun building mechs, and I have no problem waiting that long for this game to get to that point.
I agree. I disliked the level of customization in the base game already. It's one of my biggest fun factor in MW games. Waiting for the Mods I guess.

What‘s up with the Locust? Was one of my favorite mechs back then in MWO. Loved to munch away the back armor of slower mechs and farm kills. Even more fun when having the luck to find a halfway decent wolf pack.

yeah, the new DLC improved it A LOT!
It's much improved. Better graphics and A.I. The mechs actually use their jump jets now. Weather and water cooling make a difference. Little things, like when you run and view your mech from the outside camera, your bobbing up and down matching the inside view. You can apply you paint scheme to all mechs at once. New components. New mechs. New maps. Lot of stuff that mods fixed previously, but still good. I do miss some mods, like the improved HUD. Mods will have to be redone for this new version. Also, I think some of the maps a bit bugged. The enemy mechs can get stuck and you have to go out far to get them.
@Spacemarine's Gaming Channel career mode similar to Battletech, So i can skip campaign & just start doing missions?
Game is polished to a much higher degree. Much win with this patch. Much win.
if you're someone like me who couldnt live without the mods for this game then definitely sleep on it till most of that stuff is updated. things like enemy reinforcements coming in with dropships instead of just magically spawning out of nowhere, more mission types, mech customization, UI HUD, the mech salvage rework, improvements are not in this dlc.
trying to watch this video but the mech bobbing is giving me a headache...bro why not use the 3rd person by hitting V which is by default toggle zoom in/zoom out? Thumbs up for the video as always ofcourse.
I've got it, but I'm waiting for it to have modding compatibility. I got spoiled by the new mechs/weapons/clantech. Going back now wouldn't be as bad as playing BT without RogueTech but....close enough.
Framerate is not fine for us, noticable stuttering. The twitch gameplay was much more fluent in comparison.
Btw first thing I thought when you said 'Turrets please be online' I tought I played this mission once in vanilla game or some with a base with same geometry and you actually had to enable the turrets by turning on generators?

You almost never used the small laser in the Vulcan against mechs. Vehicles don't really need the extra damage that often. How about switching it out for a flamer? They do extra damage to buildings, makes demo missions faster.

One thing I find odd about MC5 is that you only have a Leopard. Yang in Battletech specifically says that barely any MechTechs will even try to refit mechs inside one of those because it's too cramped and small. Understandably we can't get an Argo in every Battletech game, but it feels inconsistent. Anyone else with me?
Yes. I feel like in the beginning you start with one, but then you start upgrading with a bigger drop ship. Kinda like battletech
Absolutly. Especially when you are about to have more than four mechs. Where are all of them stored? It‘s one of the things you have to ignore or it destroys the immersion way too much.
I'd personally like, if you could eventually buy yourself a base of operations, so you could have more than one Lance, put be able to purchase different kinds of dropships and other kind of Ships.
With MWO show some horror games as well.

I think that the extra neg. bonus is related to the weather condition and not your selected faction.
Hey Baradul, I'm going though a playthrough and I'm loving the DLC. However, I'm having trouble with how to use the Charger CGR-1A1. You should look into it when you find one.
So this is what I know about the Charger 1A1.
- Mass: 80 tons. Warload (net tonnage after paying for structure and engine block): 12.5 tons.
The stock Charger spends this on 5 small lasers and 10 tons of armour.
I'm not sure if the hardpoints are SE or ME. If they're SE, you can't really do anything useful (changing to flamers and trying to cook enemies?) If they're ME, you can try 5 medium lasers at 7.5 tons of armour; this will feel bad compared to an energy medium, but it's at least something.
It’s smoother and looks better quality of life improvements for sure and some content. I’m playing it because mods are not updated yet so 👨🏻🎤 game on
to ignore the bobbing of mechs use drone vision,,
black knight with 3 large burst lasers 5 medium burst lasers and the rest is a bap and double heatsinks, glorious cant overhet and decent dps

@@Baradul I noticed that many of the Mechs are not as smooth moving as their MWO equivalents.
Never got a chance to play till it came to steam. Loving it so far. Still trying to figure out tonnage limits
U know.... they need to set alot of $$$ aside, and invest in in it like WARZONE.... look what fortnite did, small company just kept re-investing in itself, and its hot SHYT.... so much so that it makes alot of money..... and thats what im saying.... was chrome hounds.... i think barely played it but, i think it was before its time.... tr uh tha tg now, with seasons... weapon balancing, scenario changes, add a battle pass.... PVE missions and PVP matches and ofcourse a Mech Survival..... bro.... $$$$$ i just dont understand why they donf see there is a huge market for this.
I dont know how to feel about that game. I dont own it but it feels too simple to me also it looks like the DLC and the game combined are worth no more than 20 bucks. What do you think about that guys ?
The base game is $30, but it sounds like it needed the expansion to add content. But with the DLC it's a $50 game that looks like a $20 game.
