Id say their more like nu metal than rap but then again that's also considered kinda hip hop, their definitely a great group though I've been listening to them for a while already, my current favorite song is definitely roses in the attic off of voidstar
@@Ungwolop-bh3qe Well yeah, they are nu metal and rap, that's what i meant by "new wave" genre blending is what all the new cats are doing and few do it well.
please tell me it's time to hit up the grim salvo pit, I'm happy to see anybody sharing their bizarre style of music making and always interested to see more. been listening to them since Dolores came out and will continue to listen to them for years to come, 100% worth it.
Love this group! Need to listen to their piece 'Close Ties' which is on the same album as this song! That was first exp with these guys. Keep the content coming!
Why do people keep asking for reactions to Black Rainbow from Grim Salvo? It's one of my favorite songs from them, but it isn't their typical sound. And it took me a few listens to even like it. Same with Roses in the Attic. Now both songs are GOATed for me, but their normal stuff is what got me into them.
@Zinetha true, they don't have a set sound, but they do ballads less than anything else. And it seems the few people that react to other songs first have a higher chance of doing another reaction. I don't know anyone that listened to Black Rainbow first and made another reaction.
@@reneidklein661 Anthony did, it just isn't up yet. People pay for these requests on lives. Someone else requested this and couple days later I requested Heart of Darkness. It's on Wednesday's live if you want to see it. I think you and I might have different ways of hearing music. I'm used to prog metal, where there isn't a black and white divide between fast and slow songs - the songs are usually progressive, they change (=progress) multiple times over the course of the song. Grim Salvo is a hiphop duo, yes, but I listened to their entire catalogue and at least I can clearly see prog metal influence in their music, with the scream vocals obviously but also how progressive and complex their beats and song structures have become.
@Zinetha thanks for letting me know I have more to look forward to. Interestingly enough, I listen to a lot of Kpop as well as metal. One thing I found lacking in American music that I loved in Korean groups, is that they varied the songs a lot. They would mix multiple genres together, and in the case of groups like NCT or NMIXX, etc is they would have a song that sounded like 4 or 5 songs in one. It split the community a lot, but I loved it. I like the energy of metal, but I always wished it was more chaotic. Then I found groups like Kim Dracula, Unprocessed, etc. Then I found Metalcore/Trapmetal and fell in love. I like when artists aren't afraid to be unique and mix multiple genres, sounds, etc in one song and across their catalogs. I never knew what people meant when they said Prog rock or prog metal. I just knew they *always* mentioned old-school bands when they did, and so I associated the term with the older groups, and I just cannot get into older stuff. I got into rock and metal in the late 90s and early 2000s, and all the prog bands people mentioned were like 60s, 70s, 80s, or early 90s. Hence my association of the term with "old-school bands". Thanks for clearing that up. So, in your opinion, would bands like Kim Dracula, Unprocessed, Berried Alive, etc he considered prog metal for the current day?
@@reneidklein661 I haven't heard Unprocessed, so I don't knew about them. Kim Dracula and Berried Alive I'd say are both alternative artists/groups, they don't really fit into any genres. I also like Berried Alive a lot. I wouldn't describe prog metal as being chaotic... Yes, the tempo/rhythm/whatever changes multiple times during a song and the regular song structure of verse-chorus-verse-chorus-verse-chorus that most pop/rock/metal/rap music follows isn't that common in prog metal, but instead of chaos, it's... very orderly. Similarly to how rappers flex their skills by changing their flow a lot and rhyming a lot of words, prog metal musicians flex their skills as composers and musicians by changing things up a lot during a song. They treat metal as art, not entertainment, if that makes sense. And that's why a lot of the online lists list the older bands, because 1) they've been playing the longest so they're obviously talented and looked up to by others 2) the music is aimed at an adult audience. Some bands I'm into are Katatonia, Opeth, Borknagar, Leprous, Sleep Token, Wheel & The Ocean. I think most of them have started in the late 1980s or early 1990s, but they're all still active bands. Based on what you told me about your taste in music, I'd recommend - a metal band called The Browning. they mix glitchcore and deathcore, so it's definitely chaotic - the Spotify list called 'Misfits 2.0', to find more alternative artists - you could also like Zheani's music, and Ennaria's song Monstarrr - they're pretty chaotic and mix genres a lot. If you like Ennaria, then also check out Scene Queen
Grim Salvo goes incredibly hard, they are part of the new wave rap scene and I'm here for it, their most recent stuff also features Witchhouse 40k.
