I've loved Bang Tango since The Golden Age-the most talented band of that era, setting themselves apart with their hard-rocking, thumping funk sound. I was bummed that the reunion crumbled and the Florida show didn't pan out. There's a bright side. I've been following Mark's career for years. The man is an amazing musician-passionate about his craft, and hard-working. I can't recommend his Unsung Heroes albums highly enough! Is it Bang Tango? Nope. Time changes everything, listener included, just as it should. On his most recent two albums, Days of a Dreamer, and Don't Kill the Cat, you'll hear tunes that include the hard-rocking Bang Tango guitar sound, but most are more mellow, diverse, often heading toward Americana in a Petty vein, in my opinion. Great stories, told through masterful lyrics in front of perfect guitar playing. Thankfully, the original Bang Tango CDs will always be there for us. If you're an original fan, like I am, getting up in years, I can't imagine that you wouldn't appreciate where Mark has gone, and is going, with his new music. At the risk of sounding like an ad, pick up one of his CDs at markknightandtheunsungheroes.com. You'll be glad you did.
Such a shame that the reunion didn't work, i was 16 when i saw the Someone Like You video and i was hooked right away and went to buy the Psycho Cafe cassette the next day and became a fan, the Dancing On Coals album is also great. I still listen to them to this day, was nice to see Mark Knight and i will follow him from now on.
Mark Knight - Hero, great effort to keep things together. I would love to see the originals again, great records made back in the day. Thank you so much for this Jason, great questions. Big Mark Knight fan!!!
Mark's a cool guy, but I am not sure why he even bothered with this if he wasn't going to spill it. He doesn't rely on any of them to get by, so name names damnit, and let the chips fall where they may. LeSte's voice is toast, so maybe this is the right thing.
Bang Tango was great ,,if they had came out about two years before they did they would have been huge . The songwriting was better then alot of the bands that made it big .. Funny how hidden gems are scattered -threwout music history
Another band that should have been a lot huge, their early records have great production, still sounds awesome to this day. Too bad the reunion fell apart as soon as it started.
To me, any set time is good on the boat as long as your set time isn’t exactly when the major headliner is on. So long as you’re on the pool stage at least once, it’s a great gig.
Some bands just get stuck opening, regardless of how good they are! Look at CHEAP TRICK! usually the best live band opening for almost anyone. A GREAT SHOW would be Bang Tango opening for Cheap Trick!
Great interview Jason, by the way would you be interested in interviewing Banshee guitarist Terry Dunn? I talked to him and he said he’d like to do it. They have 5 albums out now and have been associated with Metal Blade and Atlantic Records. Long history and a lot of turmoil from the band mates not getting along. The band was dropped by Jason Flom after he supposedly found out that the singer Tommy Lee Flood screwed his girlfriend (the girl in the Shoot Down The Night video). Lots to talk about here! Please look into it, Terry is on Facebook.
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen Davy would be a cool guest. That band barely had any impact in the day but I really did like No Respect. It was one of the best albums from that whole end of the scene era.
@@81shvlhead I'm totally aware of it all. I'm referring to No Respect only because this conversation generated on a Bang Tango subject. I think Vain had a much better album than BT for that time period. I was jamming on Enough Rope and Rolling with the Punches this past weekend.
Singer Joe got yanked off the stage in NC a few years ago by the owner for running his mouth. It’s always the little dudes that can’t shut the trap … and normally they drink a little too much. Great band . Very unfortunate.
It’s difficult for a lot of these 2nd and 3rd tier bands from 88-91. Bang Tango, Britney Fox, Enuff Znuff, Steelheart, Trixter, Sayara, etc…..these bands never truly “made it”. Having a video hit on mtv in 90 and nothing more, after 30 years, it’s very hard to get that off the ground again. The members become resentful they didn’t get at the level Ratt was, Def Leppard, or Poison. These guys got out of the business, but these girls who were 16 at the time, are now 50, and forgot and moved on from these bands. It’s just the nature of where this part of 80’s hard rock ended up
This was a nice update. Hard to believe these guys couldn't keep it together for a few shows. It wasn't like some long commitment but I'm not walking in their shoes. Some of the guys have moved on mentally and have better things to do. As for Bang Tango, never thought they were all that good, they had a unique style but the song writing just wasn't quite there. Between the two albums they did for Mechanic / MCA I'd say they have about an albums worth of memorable material, maybe. I also thought the singer was trying to hard to sound and look like The Cult singer Ian Astbury.
I don't understand why Mark is afraid to name names who doesn't want to do the tour. Why would anyone in the band be afraid to speak up and tell the public why they don't want to do the tour? What are they ashamed of? Pretty lame.
First album was awesome. Dancing on coals not so much. I met Joe leste at the scrap bar in nyc and i asked him what happened to that raw bluesy edge from the first album? He said "when you get signed to big label the production gets so much slicker". Ugh sold out to corporate and lost their fan base and original appeal.
@@SmittybuiltHD nah..It's just as good. Dancin on Coals,Untied & True,Dressed up Vamp,Soul To Soul....etc.....it's every bit as good as the first record.
Their first record was so good and so unique still one of my favorites 🥂

Phenomenal band with several killer albums...
Glad that Mark is still doing his thing and be happy about it.

Flew from Boston to the whiskey for reunion show was amazing!!! Nice interview Mark is a great dude
My guess is after Joe was dubbed “Barf Tango” on the cruise, he doesn’t want to go back. That guy desperately needs to sober up.
Great Interview Jason very well done. Mark did a great job of taking the high road total class act.
Love After Death is an unsung classic.

Same with Ratt.
awesome interview jason,, again getting the dirt out of people
Thank you
Got to see the original line up 3 times, I will be there if and when there is an original reunion.
I'm glad I was able to attend the show last January. Such a bummer that things didn't work out.
You got lucky for sure
Totally! M3 & a cruise would be great❤.. I am bummed.........
Good morning Jason!
PSYCHO CAFE THERE FIRST ALBUM WAS SO AWESOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALBUMS
Nice job, loved the insightful interview

Continued success

Probably next week, needed editing

Well, that sucks.Reunion fell apart..Deserved way more success then the Poison's and Warrants of that scene..First 3 records are great
Would have been really fun to watch them all get it together and play some great music. They are losing fans and getting old.

Wrong.
2 or 3 full days of practice to play a 90 minute show?? Yikes they should find a new hobby!
