The painstaking effort required to steam idlis using this old-fashioned approach has caused this ancient practice to all but disappear. We travel 80 kilometres to Halaguru to savour this delicious tradition at Babu Hotel, a tiny village eatery that has been serving up the chiblu idli for over half a century now. Hope you enjoy this episode, take care and stay safe.

Donno what makes ppl think anglicised, unoriginal pronunciations are cool!

@@sanrnsam7 oh my 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Hope your comment, made you very happy Sir. I'll still say Dosa and by the way, in Kerala , its called, Dosha ( now what can we do about that ??? Correct all the malayalees too??? ) Dosa or Dosae or Dosha ...its fine. Its an Indian dish and everyone loves it anyways.👍

@@Julie-pb7fe Yes, why not, you'll still say dosa despite being conscious of how it snatches off root identities. I will still say you have a problem with the root of something that is not yours, hence you comfortably dive into anglicing, Hindifying, propagandas, with or without knowing!
Good luck with your noble cause, Sire.

This kind of eateries should be encouraged. Thank you for considering him for your vlog. The way you respect small tiny eateries is equal with your discussion with a star hotel chef. I like this humbleness in your videos.

It's great to go to these hidden gems. If this was ITALY they would be exporting the dosae mix for 200 INR per kg and when someone else tries to make this. Say this can be only made with this rural rice and wood fire frona specific local wood, on a tawa that is atleast 10 years old. Then sell all these articles at a premium in outer markets. We as INDIANS should value what we have and generate a perception that helps our food industry.

Absolutely loathe the cities in India there as they are filthy and disorganised. No comparison to London or Europe for that matter.
But these little villages and its quirky eateries is what makes India. They are generally cleaner and the food is just simple and delicious. I’ve travelled across Karnataka this way and miss the small tea shops that serve dosas and idlis and the humble omelette. I’ve left those little eateries a happier man than a Michelin star restaurant in Europe/ America.
Thank you Kripal for showcasing these small restaurants or as they call it, hotel. Wishing you nothing but continued success mate.
