How The Cavs Expertly Utilize Kyle Korver

  • The Cleveland Cavaliers have a great shooter in Korver, and they get him great shots in their offense. They look for him in transition, run him off screens, and run great set plays for him. They also work the backscreen between him and LeBron on occasion. NBA pindowns.

    Moving without the ball is a fine craft that many all-time great snipers mastered. Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Rip Hamilton, just to mention a few.

      It's something Korver's always been good at, but he's not the only one; lots of spot-up shooters like Klay Thompson and JJ Redick are also great at this, Steph Curry as well though he's less of a spot-up shooter

      Vince Carter too. People don't realize it, but he was a headache for perimeter AND paint defenders in his hayday.

    Kyle Korver. I think is the most consistent/efficient catch and shoot 3pt shooter in NBA History. Ty Lue finally using Korver to good use. He has okay perimeter defense. I mean everybody knows he isn't the best defender. But he makes up for it with his impact offensively . He has so much gravity that it just spaces out the floor so much. Kyle Korver is a very valuable asset of the Cavaliers

      ChrisK26 Unfortunately only Korver and Bron, or maybe Crowder feel like they have decent perimeter defense. Last few games they've been improving but to challenge the Warriors the cavs are gonna need to step up perimeter defense.

      @joshsmith3972 6 лет назад +2

      tocov no effort, old as fuck, and no-one other than LeBron and DWade have ever been known ad defenders so should we really be surprised that they suck? Cavs won't get out the 2nd round let.alone win a chip

    • @tocov
      @tocov 6 лет назад +8

      Jae Crowder and Iman Shumpert are literally only known for playing good D.
      Effort plays a part in it, but seeing as they have consistently shown the same problems, I think there's a more complicated tactical issue with the way they defend. As far as I can see, it has much to do with Love playing center out of position and getting bullied, which makes his teammates help him and leave the lane open, couple that with the fact that they switch EVERYTHING and you have guards having free trips to the basket.
      But I would love to hear Daniel's take on things.
      I don't know about the championship, but thinking the Cavs don't win the east, with the way LeBron usually beasts in the playoffs, is a bit delusional.
      Remember they are still playing without TT, Rose and Isiah.

    Great analysis ! I've been saying for years that Korver does so much than just shoot 3's and he doesn't get credit for . people can criticize his defense abilities which are not great but its not the lac of effort, he will go 100% every time and help on double team. he is the best 3 point shooter ever and that's fact. No. 5 on the all time list with a career 45% from beyond the arc and all that he while being a Bench player for his entire career

    Last year lue utilized him terribly.. our offense was 5 out, set one off ball screen for korver to come to the wing, if they fought through it then just go stand on the perimeter and watch LeBron or kyrie go one on 5 and try and score or kick out.. he was basically useless in that garbage offense.. but this year he's moving beautifully, kinda like cold to start off games but comes up clutch later.. the offense is running smoother using more off ball screens so he can get open, also the only part of the video I thought was missing was how this year he's using his movement for layups.. they set the screen high and when they try that top lock they space the floor and he just rim runs and gets a layup everytime.. also him and frye come on the floor and work very well together as you showed in the video

    • @ceejay2217
      @ceejay2217 6 лет назад

      Cody Eble Yeah I Noticed it to. Him, Kevin and Fyre had to wait till Bron or Kyrie kick it out. That why all 3 was basically Trash when they play the Warriors (love was good game 1-4) But now Fyre, Love , and Kyle All Improve In the mid Range and all 3 is cutting to the basket. And if Someone Try to block it they pass it to someone who open in the 3 point line

      That's a tough call. But I think he may get in.
      Pros:
      Great movement without the ball.
      Elite catch and shoot threat
      A+ career 3pt %
      Cons:
      Perimeter Defense
      Less than 10pts per game career average
      Only 1 All-Star appearance

    i dont know where you got that statline from or what these 15.3 points are supposed to stand for but if you team starts to make 15 points MORE per posession with Kyle Korver on the court i would ask how their buckets suddenly became worth more points

    Cleveland doesn't believe in Kyle Korver 😎😎😎😎, that's why he doesn't get the playing time of J.R. Smith.
    Shooting decline & injuries forced Atlanta Hawks to give up on Kyle Korver.

      Roody Castel About the injuries playing a part to Atlanta Hawks giving up on Korver ?????
      Post-game Interview after the NBA Finals, where Korver said he felt like a CORNER SHOOTER only off the bench in limited play ????

      DeAndre Page Thats not having faith in Korver. They weren't just executing plays for him simply because their main focuses were to get LBJ, Kyrie, and Love to get hot.

    Lebron used Early Offense Double-Staggered Screens with the Lakers last year and that needs to continue. 😀😀😀
    Should be BOTH BIGS as screeners.
    The new twist is Anthony Davis to Pindown Screen, then pop outside for the 3-pointer.

    The problem with the Cavs and what proves there is no plan in their game is that in all their plays it is clear they are always being doubled or tripled in defence and they never see the open teammate to pass the ball to. The offence vs Houston where Jeff Green is a classic example.
    Love, Wade, Rose, everyone even Lebron sometimes never try to find the open teammate and that makes them tired throughout the game because they are jus trying too hard vs 2 or 3 opponents.
