Stopped here for a day on an Alaskan cruise some years back, the highlight of the tour for me. We sere so lucky that it was time for the salmon to be going upstream, and you couldn't put your hand in the water without touching a load of them. An amazing sight. I also took a hike up the 'Married mans trail', watching the salmon jumping up aver the small falls. We had been to Juneau, the glaciers, and Sitka, and after this we went to Victoria island. Ketchikan is still my best memory. Cheers from south Wales.
The way he pronounced Ketchikan is kinda charming lol Being someone who lives here I haven't really been around all the tourist-aimed spots, especially without all the tourists! So it's really nice to see cool videos like this exploring spots I never have the time or reason to visit on my own ^^
Terrific video. As an introvert, your quiet commentary suits me well. I don't like it when someone is bouncing off the walls to make their video, as if that is the way to hold the viewer's interest. You have an eye for interesting things. I loved Creek Street, the burl on the fence, the hike, and the zoom in of the marina, the buoy with the eagle, etc . . . I used to hike. Nearly 70, and quite happy to leave the hiking of this trail up to you, particularly as the trail was wet and so narrow in some places, and had lots of roots. Love the sound of the creek, seeing the moss and ferns. When I had a good time on an outing, I collected a pebble as a memento and I keep them in a bowl, along with an assortment of pretty minerals. I call them "happy rocks." I don't remember which pebble went with which outing, but just holding one in my hand makes my heart feel warm because it represents a beautiful day, a good time, often with my grandsons. They loved the happy rock tradition and liked to choose a pebble from the beach or woods, or a polished stone from a gem store, if we were in the city. The boys particularly liked it when they could find a polished agate with a curved line in it that looked like a smile.
I am 68 and I wouldn’t hike that trail. I was thinking what if you got hurt - is there a signal to get help or does a park ranger walk it every day to check it out. This was enjoyable to watch. I am an introvert too.
Very cool! I started watching your channel recently, and I was surprised to see this video of Ketchikan, where I grew up! There are a lot better trails than the one you went on, but it was still cool to see how things look now. Also, the river you mentioned is actually the Tongass narrows which is a part of the inside passage. It is in turn part of the Gulf of Alaska and the Pacific Ocean. Often people confuse it for a river though, so I understand why you thought that. Did you just go up there to film or for another reason? Juneau and Sitka are also some cool places to check out. Anyway, thanks for the video, it made me homesick!
Are you sure you were not in an Alfred Hitchcock movie, where you are the only person left, walking thru a deserted town ??? 😮😮...Totem poles were awesome, i saw a few when i went to Hawaii.. I am sure Giuseppe was glad to see you when you arrived home... Great video ..thanks for the tour... 👍👍
Haha yea it was strange the down town was pretty empty since it was off season and I'm sure the rain didn't help lol still an amazing place to check out
What an incredible little town! I enjoyed the tour, the place still has the ambience of a gold rush town of the 1800s. So glad you went on that hiking trail, such an enchanting forest.
I have been in Ketchikan several times. Always by cruise ship in the summer time. So crowded and uncomfortable with all the people. Nice to see what it is like in the late winter. So peaceful . And wet. I'd like to know where you are from that you have not seen forests such as the cedar and fir trees of the northwest. Makes me want to give your ferry ride adventure a try . Great and peaceful narration and cinematography. That trail you were on must have been a back breaker to build with all those huge flat rocks. Thanks for taking me along
Too bad it was an off-season so you couldn’t go into places, but nice that you could walk around and not have to worry about copyrighted music or people being loud or vulgar in the background to cut out. Seems like a nice place to visit and the forest was very peaceful. Thanks for taking us along.
We were in Ketchikan with our cruise boat a year ago. It was rainy and very very crowded. It's too bad you didn't get to see some shops but it's nice to see it quiet. It rained while we were there as well. I was surprised to learn that area of Alaska is a rain forest.
The next time you hike out on your own in a strange place, check in with the ranger station first so SOMEONE knows where you are going & approx how long you will be gone. In this kind of wilderness, you need to take more safety precautions. Not only in case you slip & fall, but there are some wildlife, even in winter, that may not take kindly to being disturbed.
Amazing trek and video.Beautifully narrated, scripted and filmed!! It is fantastic to actually see what is along the trail.Congratulations on such an epic trip and beautiful film Cheers 🍻 from Japan🐶🤗
Hike around Oregon and Washington. Same kind of terrain, lots of green moss, snow & waterfalls. Oregon has a lot of natural hot springs you can hike into. Most are free. You can sit in a hollowed out log in hot water with snow a foot deep around you. It was one of my favorite things to do when I lived there. And you need to see Mt St. Helens. The information center is great & the trail are beautiful to walk.
I went to Mt. Rainier many years ago, such an incredibly beautiful place. It is so vast anyone can get lost there. Seattle was a nice place to tour as well, I enjoyed the museum there and the Space Needle.
What a great trip from start to finish! I love the unconventional way to got to Alaska. What inspired you to make this trip? I hope you can go on more super cool adventures! Thanks for sharing!
That is where the salmon Spawn and once they do, they die and that part of town reeks dead salmon smell. I used to work for princess cruises and was there after it all went down.
Crazy to think how much business the shops get in peak season enough to stay open during the off season. Bet those cats eat so much salmon, wonder what they're eating after the spawn?
Yea I hope the cats get there fill of salmon I bet they do. And ye locals said its completely different place when its spring and summer time I can only imagine
Some people kindly advise that he should be more prepared but I think most of us would love to see him going in the wild without much preparation, which is exactly him.
Iv seen may different trail makers more times than not I've seen permanent marks on trees like little signs and arrows. I'm guess the ribbons is more of a temporary fix for the time being there is no way they will last very long. rocks is a good idea as well
It's pronounced Kechi-CAN (not kahn)...If you like those trails...they're very similar over in washington state (north of seattle and around mt. rainier)
Great video!!! Which entrance did you start at and are there a lot of steps to start off? Looking for the most easiest entrance into it when I go. Thanks.
What made you decide on Ketchikan? Don’t get me wrong, I love it. I love just north of there, in Canada. Did that trip before, but started from Skagway and made way south on the ferry. Was amazing. So, curious, about what drew you up North
sad thing is everything up there was over fished, the oil pipeline was completed, all the raping & pillaging done, all the jobs went away... then came the cruise ships... then the 2020 COOTIE BUG... ALL those southern Alaskan towns thrive on Cruise Ships nothing is what it used to be, jobs went away... then it's OFF-SEASON, a ghost town... the scenery is nice...
I love that you're not afraid to go out into the elements to give us another great video!
Thank you again young man for sharing!
The boardwalks along the creek are really charming.

I don't think you're a nerd at all Jason I think you're a pretty cool dude thanks for walking around in the rain to show us around town
Fabulous trip. Trains, ships, trails, and shops. All the way from michigan to alaska.
I worked there for 6 months right next to the lil shops you showed and lived on a tiny sailboat there
awesomely narrated, great footage. kudos. thanks for sharing your journey.

So nice! Too bad more stores weren’t open, but, thank you for the trip. ❤

I agree.
What a beautiful little town. The woods look so much more ancient than the Adirondacks that I'm used to.
Thank you for bringing us along.
9:43 That chorus of seagulls was both fascinating and spooky!
WOWZA!! Great footage. The forest hike was unbelievable. So pretty! I am jealous. Thank you Quiet Nerd.

A great time to explore Ketchakan. You can see all thzt is there, without looking through other humans. Beautiful camera work. So enjoyed! 😊
That is nuts!
Found your channel from your homemade camper video, loving this one because this is my hometown!!!!
One of my new favorites to follow, so relaxing and upbeat in all your little observations. Thanks so much for producing and sharing.

I appreciate the Gordon Freeman reference at @5:54

Lived in Juneau for a little over six years. I miss it. Ketchikan is awesome too. Nice video man!
I was in Juneau earlier this summer and love the SE part of Alaska. Hope to visit Ketchikan some time. Great tour! 😍🥰👍
Amazing trek and video.Beautifully narrated, scripted and filmed!! It is fantastic to actually see what is along the trail.Congratulations on such an epic trip and beautiful film Cheers 🍻 from Japan🐶🤗
thank you I'm glad you enjoyed - Cheers!
lovely cold and wet. Wonderful views. TY
I love this slow paced ones a great deal. Nice work. Keep it up.
that trail looked dangerous, but I like the museums and town buildings.

I was there last September. Saw what I believe was the last salmon run for the season. There were several seals feeding on them.
Ya need to do the Bigfoot Festival in Hocking Hills Ohio!!! Excellent time!!! We had a blast!!!❤
Rick Steves vibes dude!
✌💚
You might really enjoy the more remote trails.
Never heard anyone pronounce it Ketchi *kahn* though.
Another great video. 👍
So tempted to do a portable gaming experience like yourself but in a different part of Alaska, that would be so fun!
It would be cool to see you do some gold panning on your trip
What a great trip from start to finish! I love the unconventional way to got to Alaska. What inspired you to make this trip? I hope you can go on more super cool adventures! Thanks for sharing!

I hope the kitties were okay.

I LOVE seeing how much your channel has grown! Definitely well deserved!! Keep up the amazing work :)
:D Yea I've been trying a lot of new things lately and Ill keep trying more :D Thanks fro the long time support - Cheers!
What a beautiful place. There might have been some gold nuggets in the 19th Century, in the river.
We were just there last week and a lot of places were closed. Mostly downtown was the place to be apparently
You almost made it to my home town, Kodiak
You would love Juneau !!
Are you still in Ketchikan? I’d be happy to show you some of the places that aren’t necessarily on the main path.
Awesome video Jason, great scenery! How long did the trail hike take you to complete? That view near the end, WOW! 🖖🏽
Maby about 2 hours or so I took my time and filmed a lot lol might take you an hour if you just hike the whole time
Some people kindly advise that he should be more prepared but I think most of us would love to see him going in the wild without much preparation, which is exactly him.
Do you have ribbons on trees to indicate paths everywhere in America? Here in the Italian alps we have paint on trees or rocks with numbers.
Iv seen may different trail makers more times than not I've seen permanent marks on trees like little signs and arrows. I'm guess the ribbons is more of a temporary fix for the time being there is no way they will last very long. rocks is a good idea as well
we say ketchikan ketchi-can but great vid glad i found your channel
I’ve smoked a joint where the thumbnail is😎
Tons of Bigfoot Sightings in Alaska too!!!❤
Can I come with you next time? This adventure looked awesome!
I live in Alaska but a difffrent place I live in anchorage also I like cats
It's pronounced Kechi-CAN (not kahn)...If you like those trails...they're very similar over in washington state (north of seattle and around mt. rainier)
Wasn't Alaskan Bush People there before? So beautiful
Wonder why they named it creek street
Who knows.....an alliteration of Greek?
I believe its because it on a creek possibly? But I'm juts guessing
I kept worrying you would run into bears!
Great video!!! Which entrance did you start at and are there a lot of steps to start off? Looking for the most easiest entrance into it when I go. Thanks.
Jason why every time I see you I crave pancakes
Can you explore port protection
Went on that cruise and there were too many people.
What made you decide on Ketchikan? Don’t get me wrong, I love it. I love just north of there, in Canada. Did that trip before, but started from Skagway and made way south on the ferry. Was amazing. So, curious, about what drew you up North
Quiet nerd are you a pescatarian? I noticed you only eat fish for protein.
I enjoyed your series, but the incorrect pronunciations of Ketchikan and Sitka were hard to hear.
america give alaska back to russia
sad thing is everything up there was over fished, the oil pipeline was completed,
all the raping & pillaging done, all the jobs went away...
then came the cruise ships...
then the 2020 COOTIE BUG...
ALL those southern Alaskan towns thrive on Cruise Ships

Weirdo.
😊👍👍👍
When is the creek seasoned?....
