- A (Silent) Train Drivers eye view on a lovely summers day through Hampshire, England from the gates of Fawley oil terminal to Eastleigh Station, Through the port City of Southampton.
This Video was shot using the excellent Garmin Virb Ultra camera and a suction cup mount and edited using Adobe Premier Pro in Creative Cloud. A link to the products I use can be found here.

I used to live in eastleigh as a kid and could sit at the station all day watching the emus, sometimes demus ,intercitys racing through and the diesels etc in the goods yard.
Excellent journey, as always.
Thanks again!
Wow had everything even working semaphores and crossings with real gates!!! Superb.
Thanks for watching
I spent many a busy hour on the Fawley branch at the start of my railway career as a Driver's assistant, on my way to becoming a Train Driver in the late 1970's... there was then a Signal Box at Fawley station and another passing loop with a signal box at Frost Lane crossing (now an AHB crossing), near Hythe, which I have good reason to remember, as I once dropped the damned single-line token during a token exchange with the signalman there... I also remember the gates at School Lane crossing, Hythe being run through by a train in the early hours of the morning, the sleepy crossing keeper having failed to open them for the train... There was also a Signal Box at Totton, where you picked up the single-line token to Marchwood, and of course the still operational Signal Box at Marchwood. I retired 2 years ago after nearly 41 years service, most of it as a driver... this video takes me right back... the Fawley Branch has now been mothballed, with just the sidings at Marchwood for the military port left operational, so I'm told...I don't live in the area anymore...
Thanks for sharing that. Were you an Eastleigh Driver? I have met a couple of them.
@@RailMart I started my career at Eastleigh in 1978, but finished it in South Wales... wanted to go to the reunion this year, but, like everything else, it was cancelled...
Great video. Glad the weather was nice.
Thanks 👍
Ein weiteres wunderbares Video. Danke!!
danke schön
Lovely trip.
It really is!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and thank you for posting this video. Just to say, at about 33:57 the train passes through Southampton Central railway station but there is no caption on the screen when passing this station when captions appear while passing through the other railway stations. Please look into adding the caption in the video while passing through this station. Thanks.
Noted.
Great vid, but would have been even better with audio.
I notice there is the remains of a siding at 2:04, where a point has been removed in the past. Do you know where the siding led to?
Hi. Had a look. It would appear it accessed an old chemical works siding.
@@RailMart None of these sidings were operational even in the late 1970's when I worked on the branch
What was the locomotive number please?
