Or you could do it in your head and get a rough estimate. Round the price up to $80 and times 80 x.30 you get 24, then times 80 x.05 you get 4, now you add 24+4 and that is the Dollar amount off. Go back to the $79 and subtract 28 and you get $51.00, I was only off by a nominal amount.

Quick and dirty way you can do in your head. Take 10% of 78.95 (7.895) and add that amount 3 times which gives you 30%. Now take half of that amount and add it to get 35%. Round numbers to make it easier if you only want to get an approximation of discounted price. (27.65 vs 27.63)
