It means youtube will have ground to help other creators if they choose to (which they probably wont but its nice to think about) and it also sets up youtubers to defend themselves against copyright claims. Honestly, we need people to stand up and start suing these companies.

@@lordderp6914 I know. That is sadly a slightly hidden point in the main comment tbh. A ton of people DO have the pride to go out, find the proper resources and find good ones, and fight youtube copyright for everyone. Some of us know we can do it right the first time if we take our time to do it. But thats the thing. By the time it takes to get the proper resources, copyright has changed again. No one wants to take the time to do it properly and possibly juggle learning two lessons at once. Plus if it fails, it sets a bad precedent for the rest of youtube. I still, however, believe that someone WILL get the money, resources, and time to do it. Theres always a person that can fill any kind of role you think wont happen.

When they mention the "Japanese person reacts" videos not leaving their recommended, I couldn't relate more. I didn't watch any of them, but they were flooding my recommended by the tens, all at the same time.

So I'm finally catching up on the podcast and had to check what transpired in the meantime in regards to the strike and shit. Turns out, the very last tweet that company put out, was the ad Connor was in. That tweet is FLOODED with people complaining about the strike and you know what's the best part? The company kept reporting any comment and Twitter didn't remove any of them, so the entire comment section is just screenshots of Twitter denying the account's attempts at "striking" criticism. That's it. That's the last actions the account undertook. No new tweets since. No comments. They successfully destroyed themselves by just being dicks. Also, I BET, that this shit came down to some moron being unable to "translate" the whole "this will be used in a video" part and afterwards refusing to acknowledge their stupidity. Plenty of Germans I met (especially those of "higher status"), have horrendous English and think that's ok. Edit: Ok, so while watching, I just casually browsed some more and that entire company seems to have gotten kinda fucked. Any platform they're on (not Twitter, they removed that link from their site), be that FB, YT or Insta, has the comments turned off, dislikes aren't shown, the reviews on their site are clearly bought (only 5 star ratings) etc. That strike was their last act. Completely self-destructed with that one.

The problem isn’t quite with RUclips’s system, it’s required to be that way by the DMCA, a law that is clearly designed for big companies suing each other, not individual content creators.
Lol yet individual content creators for some odd reason are mixed in when it shouldn't apply to them when companies and individuals should've been separated in the first place.

About the youtube edit tools: Charlie (Critical) presented the idea to the CEO of youtube and the lead dirrector of the policy team and some others that you would be able to edit the video if theres something that brakes the terms, so that it doesnt get removed and you dont get a strike. And all of them liked the idea that Charlie presented to them and the CEO of youtube is pressing on the idea. *it wasn't Charlies idea, infact it was Markepliers but given the circumstances Charlie saw the opertunity to get it out for them to hear*

It means youtube will have ground to help other creators if they choose to (which they probably wont but its nice to think about) and it also sets up youtubers to defend themselves against copyright claims. Honestly, we need people to stand up and start suing these companies.

@@lordderp6914 I know. That is sadly a slightly hidden point in the main comment tbh. A ton of people DO have the pride to go out, find the proper resources and find good ones, and fight youtube copyright for everyone. Some of us know we can do it right the first time if we take our time to do it. But thats the thing. By the time it takes to get the proper resources, copyright has changed again. No one wants to take the time to do it properly and possibly juggle learning two lessons at once. Plus if it fails, it sets a bad precedent for the rest of youtube.
I still, however, believe that someone WILL get the money, resources, and time to do it. Theres always a person that can fill any kind of role you think wont happen.

My number one takeaway from this episode is that these guys watch an insane amount of RUclips.

in germany is a new "internet law" in work - and companies prepare super strict for the law. so nobody gets in problems with the goverment.
When they mention the "Japanese person reacts" videos not leaving their recommended, I couldn't relate more. I didn't watch any of them, but they were flooding my recommended by the tens, all at the same time.

A lot of these huge companies just hate RUclips creators and always want to abuse the system to their advantage. Seriously shitty of them.

This has become a somewhat unwritten rule on Trash Taste where when Garnt is the host there is gonna be a guest
So I'm finally catching up on the podcast and had to check what transpired in the meantime in regards to the strike and shit.
Turns out, the very last tweet that company put out, was the ad Connor was in. That tweet is FLOODED with people complaining about the strike and you know what's the best part? The company kept reporting any comment and Twitter didn't remove any of them, so the entire comment section is just screenshots of Twitter denying the account's attempts at "striking" criticism.
That's it. That's the last actions the account undertook. No new tweets since. No comments. They successfully destroyed themselves by just being dicks.
Also, I BET, that this shit came down to some moron being unable to "translate" the whole "this will be used in a video" part and afterwards refusing to acknowledge their stupidity. Plenty of Germans I met (especially those of "higher status"), have horrendous English and think that's ok.
Edit: Ok, so while watching, I just casually browsed some more and that entire company seems to have gotten kinda fucked. Any platform they're on (not Twitter, they removed that link from their site), be that FB, YT or Insta, has the comments turned off, dislikes aren't shown, the reviews on their site are clearly bought (only 5 star ratings) etc.
That strike was their last act. Completely self-destructed with that one.

About the youtube edit tools: Charlie (Critical) presented the idea to the CEO of youtube and the lead dirrector of the policy team and some others that you would be able to edit the video if theres something that brakes the terms, so that it doesnt get removed and you dont get a strike. I’m so glad Connor brought up KrisPNatz at the end. He is fucking hilarious and makes THE BEST reviews. I almost never completely agree with his takes but god dammit if I am not entertained. I love how he just tells his opinion, no bullshit, and is so funny while doing it.
