I bought an 1898 Havresack at a gun show a couple years ago (Khaki) I then made a pattern of the various pieces, then took a couple old army duffel bags, cut them up and made three copies of the Havresack out of them in the modern OD canvas, worked out pretty good.

Funny you should mention that a lot of scouts nowadays use surplus military equipment because about half my camping equipment is old Alice gear! One of my buddies uses it too and it works great.

Hi, I find value on your video and the information you share, thank you. Try changing or variating the camera angle. Example, you looking down at the sack on top of a table. Your background could improve greatly when videoing your face. Please keep the work, I love it.

The SCOUT haversack suspension is far ahead of the Civil War reproduction you started off with in this video. My backpack experiences did include the limited suspension point system and the bag sagged back away from my torso. SUDDENLY, I HAVE THIS THOUGHT: with SO MANY of us growing up in SCOUTING, WHY are there not more firms offering reproductions of the best of Scouting equipment?

Perhaps some day if I can get a large enough following I can partner with a supplier and get a retro equipment store opened :)

What Price Glory. They have several different models but the 1898 is the one closest to the size and construction that the Boy Scouts used. :) It is a great piece of kit! Thanks for your support and question!
