everyone commenting about the dog being in the box or the dude on the couch but no one’s talking about how the guy legitimately asked the dog “Do /you/ have a name?” that’s so sweet imo
I'm amazed that people can't comprehend that if a dog is in a box, as a Christmas gift----- it hasn't been in there for weeks, days, or hours. It was put in /right/ before being given. Good lord people.
No! I'm SURE he/she was there a while. I mean you have to consider how long it takes for santa to bring the box from the North pole and then after it gets dropped down the chimney (which I'm sure hurt the dog too) THEN he/she had to wait for everyone to wake up. duh!
I am a huge dog person, and I will defend this family's actions. They were perfectly fine putting him in that box - he was probably only there for a couple of minutes, he had plenty of oxygen, he didn't seem even remotely distressed, and you would have heard him calling if he had been. The family clearly cared greatly for him and would never have put him in a situation that could have been harmful. They also clearly assessed the dog's personality and came to the conclusion that he was calm enough to handle 2 minutes alone in a box. Besides, many animals find dark, confined spaces comforting and enjoyable.
Jess Crago So he knew in advance the dog was going to die at that day and that hour and miracle of miracles there is the pup. There NO WAY you can get a pup here the same day you visit a breeder... Not a good breeder.
Tristan Vaux That´s the biggest nonsense EVER. I´m all for adoption, I worked for a shelter myself, but official breeders don´t do it for the money. It costs a LOT of money and yes, they make a little, but not a fortune. There´s no way, not here that is, you can live from breeding dogs. In official breeding that is, not puppy mill breeding.
I love how the puppy saw him, looked around, then looked at him again and tried to jump out toward him, like "Yep, this man is going to love me. Give me love."
LOL I love how the bigger dog at the beginning is sniffing around like, "Pretty sure there's a dog in there." LOL Anyway, thanks for sharing this video! This pup must be a senior now, if still with us (I hope so!) but regardless, I hope you all made tons and tons of memories with him and love him very much!!!!! As I'm sure he loves you all too!
When I turned 16, my mom told me I HAD to go to the pet store to pick up dog food. I complained and didn't want to go. As I got to the pet store and went to go get dog food, I saw a kitten running with a pink balloon that said "16" attached to his collar. I picked up the kitten, and was looking for the owner. My mom came out and told me he was mine and i dropped to the ground crying 😂 Im turning 19 soon, and he is my baby 💜
I did the same thing when I got a pony when I was about 14. My mum said we were picking up a wardrobe so we needed to bring the horse trailer ( we pick up things in the horse trailer quite often so I didn't think anything of it) When we arrived my mum handed me a headcollar and I saw the pony in the driveway and I started crying with happiness 😅
This was 10 years ago!!! I watched it three times before I realized! Such a nice family, I hope you all are doing well and would love to know what the sweet puppy was named!
I volunteer at my local dog shelter, I always shed a tear when another dog is adopted, it just fills my heart with joy that there are still people who love animals, so people, please please please adopt! there are so many loving, beautiful animals in need of homes!!
Omg.. I had a blessed English Springer Spaniel …Shelby..(named after the Mustang) for over 11 years. This little boy was the joy of our lives. I think of him so often and know that one day I will see him again. He is playing with my late boyfriend at the Rainbow Bridge..healthy, happy and just chilling out. Many joyous years are waiting for you. Happy Days.
The vibe I got was not such much that the recipient had dementia, but that the givers were concerned about the puppy in the box. (That could have accounted for much of their nervous banter as they got Dad into the living room while narrating the video). He seemed pretty sharp to me, just confused as to why he supposed to go into another room. The facial expressions he used when he found the puppy were not those of someone whose wits are dimming, but of someone who is pleased, but usually polite and restrained. I got the feeling this was a man who had recently lost a dog that had been his companion for many years.
What a wonderful moment, it took only a second to see the bond of unconditional love spring to life, it was so beautiful and amazing. Thank you for sharing that moment with all of us.
I had 6 months of chemo and was extremely ill. I would make it to the window everyday to watch this family and their dog play catch with the frisbee! The best medicine!! This dog could really put on a show! A great video!
Man I got a Doxin Puppy in the same way and I swear it stopped me from sticking a needle in my arm, dogs truly are a many best friend! They saved my life
So cute...it's a Springer Spaniel...I have a black/white one too...she just turned two. They r the best dogs...I love the looks Springer's can give... always a bit shy acting. I will always own a Springer. But a huge shout out to all dogs!!
I loved this, great video and surprise. My first dog was a springer and she was wonderful. Now I have a Lab and he's my best buddy. That HUGE box was no different than a crate or carrier with a blanket over it so folks need to chill. I'm also pretty sure the kids and MOM knew Dad wanted a pup as a gift...not like buying one for the babysitter. Sheez.
Pets bring so much love into our lives. My children are grown and gone and I needed to nurture someone. I now have 2 cats and 3 dogs and I feel happy again. Blessings to all and be safe! 💕🌸🦋
Oh my gosh, cutest thing ever!!! People should really get over the dog being in a box, and enjoy the love in this video. I put my siblings in boxes all the time during holidays and birthdays for the cheesy joke XD it's not a big deal
I know right! And everyone is saying it's cruel! The puppy wasn't harmed in anyway shape or form! It's as if your buying it from the store. It's not cruel! It's really sweet!
Saurabh Mehta They have air holes in the boxes. That or people put them in only like 5ish minutes ahead of time an just hide it in a closet or something before hand
That was pretty close on how my parents brought my cat candy at home two years ago. She was in a box with holes, so she could breathe properly along with a toy and a tin of catfood... She was a bit afraid at first, but after a half an hour she was on the counche sleeping next to us. My father found her mother when she was missing, and when she gave birth, she brought us candy as a thank u gift, and it was a surprise which made me the happiest I could remember my self to be in a long time. Yes I agree animals are not presents, they are gifts. Unfortunately she died after a surgery, RIP.
The funniest thing is I have forgotten how happy that surprise made me. Now we own a pom pom name phoibus and the nephew of candy, name orestis, but he kind of giving us a hard time, he is actually very naughty and not the greatest of combinations with our pom, they are both males, so very often someone tries to start playing cauz they get bored, and they are starting to pick small fights from times to times.
Awe this reminds me of when my families 14 year old great dane passed and who was my dads bestfriend! We surprised my dad 3 months after with a great dane puppy and he completely broke down, they are best buddys.
What a wonderful Christmas present for Dad. He reminds me of my father who was a total fan of dogs. I hope that Dad and his doggy are well. Maybe someone can give us an update. How the family in general is doing? I hope are all well. God bless all.

I don't see why everyone is flipping out. I know that dogs should not be put in boxes but that box was far from air sealed shut. Many of you will say, well even if it was in there for a second you don't stick animals in boxes or other things, so when people put their newly adopted pets in those paper/cardboard boxes those are considered animal abuse?? You are going to say, but those have holes. But those who are saying never stick an animal in a box are not stating whether or not they have air. They are just stating that it is cruel.
