I actually came to K-Pop because I wanted something different from the mainstream American pop, which does not suit my taste. Sadly, the Korean music industry has started imitating the Americans. It makes me feel very bad. They don't know how good they were back when they had set and followed their own trends in the music industry.

I think one of the best things about BEG is the fact that by K-pop standards they were all past their prime. With Gain as the expection they all debuted at the age of 24-25ish. And they've maintained the same lineup for a decade. Not to mention a discography of excellent music to accompany such a long time in the industry. The word iconic gets tossed around quite often in K-pop but I think this is one group that is truly deservant of the accolades. Here's to another 10 years.

I remember how much controversy started when they released this music video. BEG has always pushed "sexy" to the extreme, more than any other kpop girl group to date, and I have always loved it.
I think the dance is empowering. It is sexual yes, but i think it looks cool (not degrading). The girls strive forward confidently in their moves- this dance is for themselves to enjoy and relish, it is empowerment. It is not strip tease to grab men's attention, but a delving into womanhood and female sexuality.
This is still one of my favourites. Way ahead of its time in terms of the content of the video storyline too. All kinds of boundaries pushed, love these girls.
Kind of the opposite actually. BEG was progressive af and the pioneer of empowering women in Korea by embracing their sexuality. Up until them it was all cutesy schoolgirl shit or kind of play-acting the sexy bit. BEG is still doing that today, btw. While girl groups are allowed to be "sexier" (aka more crude), it's still just vapid nonsense meant only to shock. BEG is classy and everything they do is meant to have more impact and meaning than "Look! She grabbed her crotch! How scandalous."

Up until them it was all cutesy schoolgirl shit or kind of play-acting the sexy bit. BEG is still doing that today, btw. While girl groups are allowed to be "sexier" (aka more crude), it's still just vapid nonsense meant only to shock. Everything about this song makes me so freakin' nostalgic. I started getting hella obsessed with Kpop when BEG was performing this on all the music shows! This track was all over Korean TV. All the variety show entertainers would perform this dance on their shows and it was such a blast! The song just takes me back to all those good golden days of Kpop back around 2009. I was obsessed!
