guitargeekette I've been trying to figure out how k-pop has changed, and I think that late 200s to early 2010s, k-pop music mostly derived from euro-pop/euro dance music and j-pop.
I think now that k-pop got big in america, they've been deriving music from american music now.

I actually came to K-Pop because I wanted something different from the mainstream American pop, which does not suit my taste. Sadly, the Korean music industry has started imitating the Americans. It makes me feel very bad. They don't know how good they were back when they had set and followed their own trends in the music industry.
I think one of the best things about BEG is the fact that by K-pop standards they were all past their prime. With Gain as the expection they all debuted at the age of 24-25ish. And they've maintained the same lineup for a decade. Not to mention a discography of excellent music to accompany such a long time in the industry. The word iconic gets tossed around quite often in K-pop but I think this is one group that is truly deservant of the accolades. Here's to another 10 years.

Best Comment I have ever read on RUclips. I have to add one very biggy,,,,, Gain. She should go down in history as one of the Iconic women of all time. You can throw out the word Iconic as you said about Kpop,,, but not Gain. She believes in all this and she lives it and is living a stand fast firm believing in herself life. Them and 2ne1 I remember alot of kpop fans complaining because they had members that where over 23 or 24 it was so weird at that time. By the standards of kpop back then It was still very aggressive and ageist but not as much as it is now which I find so weird. I will always support these girls, 2ne1, T-Ara, wonder girls, SNSD and Kara for the fact that they had so much going against them but they still went on an achieved amazing feet for the time. This song is literally so legendary people still do the "Arrogant dance" to this day

I think the dance is empowering. It is sexual yes, but i think it looks cool (not degrading). The girls strive forward confidently in their moves- this dance is for themselves to enjoy and relish, it is empowerment. It is not strip tease to grab men's attention, but a delving into womanhood and female sexuality.

This is still one of my favourites. Way ahead of its time in terms of the content of the video storyline too. All kinds of boundaries pushed, love these girls.

Up until them it was all cutesy schoolgirl shit or kind of play-acting the sexy bit. BEG is still doing that today, btw.
