1. Ramones - Ramones
2. Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bullocks
3. The Germs - G.I.
4. The Clash - London Calling
Any of these could be in the 5-Spot: Patti Smith - Horses; X - Los Angeles; Devo - Are We Not Men; Black Flag - Damaged; Stooges - Funhouse
The Germs is a great pick! Hugely influential and very much overlooked.
@@TheVinylDen not by anyone really into punk music, not just kids who discovered punk music with Green Day.
For me :
5 . Descendents- Milo goes to college
4. NoFx - Punk in Drublic
3. The Damned - Damned , Damned , Damned
2. Ramones - Rocket to Russia
1. The Misfits - Walk Among Us
Great list!
Like you, my Top 5 punk albums would change on a different day...so here we go in no particular order
The Clash - The Clash
X - Los Angeles
Ramones - Ramones
Fear - The Record
Iggy Pop & The Stooges - Raw Power
I do like you list...the 90's had some great punk/post punk bands in that decade!
One of the albums from Jeff Rosenstock's solo career or one of his bands (especially b.t.m.i!) deserve a shout, with my favorite being Vacation by btmi, but you composed a good list. Hadn't heard about "Destruction by Definition", will give it a listen.
I was never the biggest Blink 182. But I can't deny they were pretty solid song writers and did get a lot of younger people into punk rock.
Dude thanks for putting up this video. Somewhat I agree and somewhat I disagree but good video about punk albums. There are elite punkers who would be mad but a lot of these bands changed punk in a good way. I like how you discuss about your experience because that’s what’s it’s all about… going through the experience. Very cool tho Chester Cat is way better than their 2003 album. I love Rancid tho Let’s Go is top for me. NOFX on point but my number 2 punk album. Suicide Machines are so dope and that album is my number 3 punk album. I want to make a best punk albums and I’ll let you know when that’s done. Cheers!
My best punk albums of all time is up on my channel. Check it out and let me know what you think,
Saw Get Dead at the final NOFX show in the UK. Really good live.
These are my Top 10 PunkRock Albums of the 1990s:
1990s:
1. Rancid- And Out Come the Wolves (1995)
2. Bad Religion- Stranger Than Fiction (1994)
3. NOFX- Punk in Drublic (1994)
4. Green Day- Dookie (1994)
5. Face to Face- Self-Titled (1996)
6. Offspring- Smash (1994)
7. Rancid- Let’s Go (1994)
8. Blink-182 - Enema of the State (1999)
9. Pennywise- About Time (1995)
10. Social Distortion- Self-Titled (1990)
11. Schleprock- (America’s) Dirty Little Secret (1996)
Please listen to vanilla muffins great band, pretty unknown bc short career but very nice
90s punk rock gets a lot of shit for some reason. Older fans claiming “its not really punk” is complete nonsense. All that happened was audience tastes changed and it became accepted by mainstream media which meant those bands got their songs on the radio. 2/3 years prior to Dookie and Smash those same bands were all playing in underground clubs to 10 people or less putting out music DIY and writing the same music that no one wanted to hear. They didn’t sell out or change their music just got popular.
My fave punk albums in no order. Just impossible to rank these.
1. Rudimentary Peni: Deathchurch
2. Flipper: Sex Bomb Baby!
3. Butthole Surfers: Independent Worm Saloon
4. No Trend: Too Many Humans
5. The Clash: London Calling
6. Nirvana: In Utero
7. Poison Idea: Feel The Darkness
8. The Birthday Party: Junkyard
9. Dead Boys: Young, Loud And Snotty
10. Ruts: The Crack
11. Stiff Little Fingers: Inflammable Material
12. Buzzcocks: Singles Going Steady
13. Amebix: Arise
14. Lama: Lama
15. Misfits: Walk Among Us
16. Sex Pistols: Nevermind The Bollocks
17. Adolescents: Adolescents
18. The Nuns: I
19. Germs: G.I.
20. Wipers: Over The Edge
21. T.S.O.L.: Dance With Me
22. The Cramps: Songs The Lord Taught Us
23. Fear: The Record
24. Chumbawamba: Anarchy
25. Ramones: Leave Home
Had to still leave amazing, essential albums out and it hurts! Cheers from Finland
No rancid?😢
@@muditsingh5686 I do love older Rancid. Out Come The Wolves would be in my top 100
If you want to hear the best punk album of the last 30 years, its Mush by Leatherface. Can hear it on youtube.
1 never mind the bollocks…2. The clash debut…3 nobody’s heroes stiff little fingers. 4 the damned debut…5…dead Kennedy’s. Fresh fruit….
nice SLF pick. Not as incendiary as their debut but more melodic and terrific too.
Rich Kids on LSD - Rock and Roll Nightmare. my fav
Bad Brains - Rock for Light. great gas station music if your working
Minutemen - Double Nickles on the Dime my fav is Three Way Tie for Last
Bargain Music - The Magic is over its not really punk rock
Strung Out - the element of sonic defiance never mentioned
A.F.I - Very Proud of Ya i swear they used to be punk
Bad Religion - No Control Suffer is a close second for me
i appreciate the suggestions i grew up kinda poor in a mountain town by Santa Cruz Ca had friends into Good Riddance and Lagwagon but they never hit me, got a friend in Craig's Brother.
Black Flag and Henry Rollins albums i enjoyed. 88 Fingers Louie the first 2 Slightly Stoopid you might skip some songs. all i can remember from the 90s my music collection is in storage currently.
The Damned, Busscocks The Undertones , Stranglers Sex Pistols. These Are the First punk bands who started the punk era✌🏼😉
Lots of these lists I can't relate to at all...but this one is close to my tastes! I would have
NOFX - punk I'm drublic
Lagwagon -Double Plaidnium
Rancid-out come the wolves
Off With Their Heads - Home
Green Day - Dookie.
Tough list to come up with tho...
Great vid!
Lagwagon is a very underrated band! I love their Bad Astronaut side project also.
Rancid! I'm not complaining 😅! I respect your list!
My friend , I couldn’t of picked a better 5 if I tried . Fantastic pics ….. but ……. I would of picked Let’s Go !!
Maybe
I think
Might of
🤷🏻♂️
Oh I don’t know ….. lol amazing choices. Take care
Let’s go is a damn good album! I initially considered it, but I think Wolves is a little more influential (mainly because of its huge mainstream success), and I love the evolution of their sound on Life along Wait (mixing in more ska and reggae).
I'd say. The Muffs-Blonder and Blonder, MXPX-Life In General, NOFX-Heavy Petting Zoo, Offspring-Smash, Green Day- Insomniac
Interesting that you would pick Heavy Petting Zoo. I think it gets overlooked because of how great some of their other ‘90s albums were.
@@TheVinylDen it was my entry to Nofx and it just is great in my ears opinion.
Great list. How could you not have The Sex Pistols in your top five?!? JUST KIDDING!!!! I would put Sex Pistols, The Clash London Calling, The Cramps self titled, The Misfits Static Age and Ramones Mania in my top 5. I am definitely going to check out Get Dead Dancing With the Curse.
To stop myself from sounding like a gatekeeping a** I try my best not to discuss The Sex Pistols. 😂
I think Static Age would be more highly regarded by the masses had it been released in the late '70s when it was recorded, and not in the mid '90s. I also think the Misfits would have had more sustained success in their early career (and possibly not broken up when they did) had it been released.
1 hear nothing see nothing - Discharge
2. we are the league - anti nowhere league
3. city baby attacked by rats - GBH
4 Plastic surgery disasters - Dead Kennedys
5 the clash - the clash
My all time top 3 would be The Clash’s 1st album (American version) The Ruts ‘The Crack’ and the Bad Brains first album which for years you could only get on cassette. After that maybe The Angry Samoans Back from Samoa which is arguably the snottiest punk record ever and maybe one or the other of the Stranglers first LP’s Rattus Norvegicus or No more heroes. They’re both great.
Also Stiff Little Fingers Inflammable Material.
SLF is very underrated!
I'm not a huge punk fan but my top two would have to be Never Mind the Bollocks and Energy.
Like I said in the video, without Energy we probably don't get all of those great '90s and early 2000s punk bands. IMO it's one of the most influential punk albums of all time, and it's amazing to think Op Ivy only existed for about two years.
I'll keep my opinion about The Sex Pistols to myself. 😂
FUCK YES SUICIDE MACHINES!!!!! I only just got that album in my collection a few months back. I like the 2nd album they did as well as everything from 2005-onwards. But that first album is fucking amazing
Battle Hymns, self-titled, & Revolution Spring are all really good albums, but Destruction By Definition is incredible. I still remember hearing it for the first time a year or so after it was released and instantly being hooked on it.
Great list but Sex Pistols has to be on it
Looks like your into the more commercial and popular bands.
I wouldn’t exactly call Get Dead, The Suicide Machines, and NOFX commercial or “popular”.
Yeah I collect cds
So do I
For 'Best', read: 'My Favourite'.
No, these definitely aren’t my 5 favorite punk albums, but I think they are the best.
@@TheVinylDen Can you explain the difference?
@@TheSqeela When considering what I think are the best I look at other factors outside of personal preference (which I can’t deny does factor in, but not as much as some would think). I also take into account quality of recording, influence, sales/chart position, & mainstream success. It’s definitely not a science, but I try to separate personal feelings from what I consider the best. TBH of these top 5, only 2 (maybe 3) would be in my favorite top 5. I try to be as objective as possible.
Shame 69 ! The boomtown rats first album the Skids , scared to dance ! The clash , the ruts ! Not big fan of American 90s punk ? Ramones definitely the best thing to come out of America Paul Dublin 🏴☠️🇨🇮
Ruts rule and their Complete Peel Sessions is even better than The Crack.
5 Honour ables , why not just make it your Top Ten Punk Albums
It was hard enough to just make a top 5. Even with having 5 honorable mentions there were several others that I initially considered for the top 5.
