I can tell you exactly what you have found, it is the samething I found out when I was the last to build in the subdividsion. I was sold the lot that was the barrow pit for the roads that where built for the sub and the pit was filled with all the debris from the construction of the sub. All they did was sell me a dump site lot and put 5 foot of crappy back fill and 6 inches top soil on it. I suited the developer that knew about it, allowed it and i won. We reached an agreement on him posting a one million dollar, one hundred year bond against subsidence issues on my house and he also had to come in and remove 4000 cu yds. of muck out, back fill with compackted fill. I just hope this broke him from sucking eggs and doing what should have been done in the first place ! P.S. And the County inspection department let him get by with it !!!! P.S. P.S. What really cinched the case was google earth photos during devlopment of the subdividsion !

I'm betting that somebody, way back when, burned the trees and stuff in the ravine before the house was built. I feel sure that ravine used to run farther up towards the front of the lot at one time. I've never seen a pool built like that one. I've demoed probably 10 or 12 of them and have never had one with a concrete bottom in it. All of the ones I've seen had a sand bottom and concrete curtain walls along the sides. That was interesting.
Yeah the ravine ran way up the hill looks like. I just hope the house isn't sitting on that junk. I'm no pool expert but it was interesting how it was built.
No telling what is under the house foundation Lindsey, they might have pushed tree and burying them in a bunch of trenches when they were building the subdivision! where our garage is at work used to be where the complex used to let tree company dump wood chips. yea 12 ft deep wood chips is plenty to support a 3 bay garage. then wonder why its sinking, the walls are bowing etc
Word of advice go rent you a sheep foot compactor and roll and vibrate the crap out of it in no more than 8 inch lifts sealit off just like a pond Dike also when you going work that dozer heck ain't even gotten the paint wore off of her yet
Where is the rebar? Every pool i demolish in the north east has a ton of rebar in it I just did one last week spent all day jack hammering it into pieces before backfilling with gravel
I asked the same thing. No rebar. I did see some wire, but it all seemed to be at the very bottom or none at all. They definitely took the cheapest route
looks like it was sinking as there is no gravel under the concrete and the dirt that is there is not very compacted and when you started breaking the bottom of the pool i was amazed at how thin the concrete was!
@@smithworx1091 the vinyl liner pools are the hard ones, you cut the first lift to 42”, then jump in a have to carve the deep end hopper to within 2” of specs for the vermiculite…that’s the hard part, but you just use outside tooth on bucket to carve the line, then ramp up to shallow end.
Every time a pool is destroyed it’s hard not to think about all the fun days some family spend around it…. It all comes to an end… kids grow up, parents get old…. Sad, really

As is normal you can sure tell when a guy doesn't use rebar, or walks it into the ground under the pour. Concrete that thick poured over a good pad done right should have not been that easy to break up. Yet on YT you still see "professionals" pouring crap that way and trying all kinds of ways to justify crappy work! Crappy is crappy no matter how much they try to talk it up! Same with the "There are fibers in the mix"! more BS to justify not doing it right. Most of them should know better as the knowledge is out there. There is no excuse even for a DIYer to do this kind of work. Then putting it over a fill of logs and garbage!
Man what a mess! That dirt under is just trash. That was stupid to build a pool on a burn pile. You should have found hard packed clay. I knew when you broke through the concrete on the shallow end and the dirt was black that something was wrong. Hope you got it all cleaned out and found where the water was cheeping in from. Looks like you're having too cut out the dirt all the way to the gully. And bring in good clay to fill in the hole. Y'all Be Safe Out There Buddy.
