To send to the PC: - In Teraterm, instead of “Send a file”, select “Receive a file” - When launching XYZ.TTP, use the -u (upload) parameter and specify a file to upload e.g. -u c:\myfile.txt Good luck!
Thank you. Can I send files across the System from the system with windows environment to the system at EFI shell ( pen drive being connected for storage), I have serial cable connected across ?
How do I get the Atari ST zmodem software on to the Atari ST, when that is the problem I am trying to solve in the first place? How is this not addressed in the video, the summary, or the comments?
Yep! So long as you can find a ZMODEM app, you're good to go :-) Looks like there are some good options here: www.chebucto.ns.ca/Services/PDA/WindowsComm.shtml
On the Atari side, can you select a different disk, say Ultrasatan SD as the destination disk? It seems like there's only a little bit of configuration possible on the XYZ side.
Mike Baas yep! That will work! By default xyz.ttp will use the current directory for copying files. Optionally you can specify the folder you want to download to when you launch xyz.ttp e.g. C:\DOWNLOADS. Hope this helps!
Do you have an example when you go in the other direction? I just can't get that to work. When you have a file on the ST or (in my case) a printer and want to download a file to the PC
Sure thing. To transfer files the other way, you need to set your PC to "Receive" and send the files from the ST (or other) side. I just uploaded an example. You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/lX4y5kVU1No/видео.html
Is ZMODEM really being used today? Isn't it outdated? Actually I don't have much idea about that. You can help me on that. My manager had told me to learn the ZMODEM protocol.
Tejas Bhumkar if you want to transfer from a Windows PC to an Ubuntu PC you have many better and faster options. However if you really want to use Z Modem, you’ll need to find a Z Modem server for Ubuntu. Luckily it looks like this is built in. See manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/trusty/man1/rz.1.html
good old bbs days and zmodem protocol on a usr 33.6k courier v.everything

Thank you so much for this video!
I spent a lot of time to figure out how to send files using a zmodem. Your video is like an oasis in the desert.
Степан Глушков No worries! Very happy to help

Glad to help!
Thank you. Cool! And how to send back to PC? This XYZ looks like a receiving listener.
To send to the PC:
- In Teraterm, instead of “Send a file”, select “Receive a file”
- When launching XYZ.TTP, use the -u (upload) parameter and specify a file to upload e.g. -u c:\myfile.txt
Good luck!

Unfortunately I don’t know whether X/Y/Z modem is available inside the EFI environment - it likely depends on your device
@@jamesfmackenzie thanks for your reply. 🙂

Also, do you need to use a null(switched wires) cable or just a regular straight cable? How is this not specified?
do you know if it's the same kind of thing for windows 3.1?
Yep! So long as you can find a ZMODEM app, you're good to go :-)

I guess the solution is to use the SD as the disk for XYZ. Sounds easy!

@@jamesfmackenzie Thanks for all your tutorials bro, but this (reverse transfer) video is listed as private now? any chance you could make it public?
@@Joeldavidhopson Ah - not sure why I made that private. Can you try the link again? It should be public now
@@jamesfmackenzie hello, could you please list your reverse transfer video as public? It is still listed as private:(

Bishal Gupta I use it exclusively with retro/legacy systems. But it may still be in use today for modern embedded devices e.g. routers, switches etc
jamesfmackenzie thank u for that. do u know which FTP is better than ZMODEM and is widely used today
Bishal Gupta SMB/CIFS and NFS are popular. Also FTP and SFTP. It all depends on the capabilities of the system you need to interface with
How can I transfer files from my PC to another device I'm running through Teraterm?
You need to X, Y or ZModem software running on the remote device. What are you looking to transfer files to?
I'm trying to copy numpy on a development kit from itron, its called Itron Riva Dev Kit. So, how can I copy the files over to the device?
