I think he was trying to kill the baby to begin with because of the forceful way Pastor Mason grabbed the baby out of the car seat. When he thought the baby had drowned, he pulled him out only to realise that the baby was still alive and was protected by God or something.
Skumis3 ok this is my point of view. so before this scene the pastor talks to marty saying how he loses his faith in God and sees the devil in marty then when he brings his baby to the lake it appears he tries to drown it but when he pulls the baby out of the water it is still alive which is almost like a signal that the pastor and his baby are protected by god.
Gary being dropped from the building was one of the most harrowing scenes of film I ever witnessed. I mean, the way he hit the ground, and the shoe flying off and rolling in the street, the sound editing for the thud, the attention to detail was magnificent and award worthy. But when Del got shot in the face was even more epic of a scene! My goodness, this show is utterly amazing.
When Wendy pieced him in the jaw AFTER slapping him i was buggin up. Guess the slap wasnt enough. Poor Marty took a lot of shit throughout the whole show
Brian Hall why? Do you think it's stupid that Star Wars & Star Trek aren't filmed in space? That Hobbit/Lord of the Rings aren't filmed in Middle-Earth? 😂 you sound so fucking stupid... something doesn't have to be filmed where its setting is... lol
The Ozarks is one of Netflix's best series to date. I didn't have many expectations from the show but right off the bat after watching the pilot I became instantly hooked by the dark and gritty content. Not to mention Bateman puts in an outstanding performance. The only thing I did not like was that they killed off Camino who in my eyes was one of the best characters in the show. Looking forward to season 2.
So bummed off they killed Del that early on and in that way he was by far my favourite character in the show. Composed and was the most scary guy in the show by far
Ikr? I was worried they were trying to rip off Breaking Bad, but it turned out to be quite different. I'm glad I gave it a try because it's truly one of the best on Netflix. Can't wait for season 2!
I watched the first 20 minutes and was getting bored with it, was fixing to go "back to browse", then all hell broke loose. Stayed up and watched 4 more episodes, finished it the next day. Ready for season two.
Jstreet That part was weak, mostly at fault of Bateman's. That shit will hurt deeply indeed, but seen him walking later on in that episode nicely was a dissapointment. Mostly, because he had shoes on, so just imagine the pain, I would at least feel uncorfortable walking or as soon as I could, take off my shoes. Details.
It's worse than having the nail partially on. On completely or off completely, anything inbetween is the ultimate pain. I've lost two nails, I know how it is.
4:20 He wasn’t there to confront him about the affair. He was there looking for Wendy since she took out all of their savings and putting them both at risk.
Ay, if he was kept alive through everything, it’d be annoying because of plot armour. Also it was the perfect time to kill him because it was utterly unexpected.
Matridox RBLX its not fuckin plot Amor he is a high ranking member of the second largest drug cartel he shudn’t even be in some hill billies living room ina first place and the fact that no guard saw darlene pick up and load the shotgun this show is really good but at parts its just hmmmm ok
In the Ozarks. Tennesee. And Kentucky when it gets colder like fall and winter time its hella more cloudy and windy and darker. So it seems a little more "blue" cause of the weather
the best part was when the langmores took marty's money. he confronts them in a bathroom and explains to them the source of the money and dares them to take it.
NBAYoung Booi no it’s barely inspired by it. Breaking Bad is about when you break bad and hiding it from your family. Ozark waste no time with that “will they won’t they” crap
There's theories as to why Buddy removed the bullets from Jonah's gun. Reason #1 -- he spotted Jonah hiding the gun, after giving him knowledge about how to properly use the gun, and is fearful after his parents report their growing suspicion of his... budding "serial killer-isms" or like school shooter tendencies, literally they mention that. So he wants to remove the ammo and prevent Jonah from hurting anyone and/or ruining his life in that way, if that was to be the case OR more likely IMO Reason #2 -- it's heavily implied he's a former gangster himself. "I used to work for unions" he said. "I killed Jimmy Hoffa." he says and after several moments Wendy laughs along with him. For all we know, he DID kill Jimmy Hoffa in the context of this story. In either case, he takes a liking to Jonah and from there I think he gathers/realizes that the Byrdes are up to something illegal just almost intuitively. That dangerous people might be after them. So he got HIMSELF ready in the event that it ever happened, that he'd be the one to pull the trigger like he has so many times before, not wanting Jonah to grow up with a life with the weight of having killed someone on his hands the way he did. Buddy was protecting Jonah from that. I really think #2 is the reason but they've intentionally surrounded his character in mystery but I am pretty sure he's a former mobster himself.
Best show on Netlfix yet. From ep 1 I was glued to the TV not the show that plays in the background while you cooking dinner. Awesome original show !!!
I guess the toenails scene was too graphic to include here when Charlotte's metaphorical drowning scene was not. Her character is so underdeveloped that I couldn't tell if that was a suicide attempt or if it wasn't happening at all and was meant to be metaphorical. I get it, swimming at night. Former swim team member.... nearly drowns at all. OK.
Scalping's too lenient by Cartel standards methinks. More like skinned alive and hoisted via pike/lance through a$$ and hoisted up in the town centre, still alive, as a warning.
Yea that's what pissed me off I like del more than the Snell's but saw a reason to keep both but for Del to get clipped so easily was a turnoff for me because it was kind of unbelievable.
monokhem because that asshole happens to be a near Kingpin right hand man. He’s suppose to be next to untouchable u have to plot and scheme just to get next to the guy so for the show to kill him off so quickly and in that fashion is pretty unacceptable . U just dont do that ! Aint no logic to it ! Is there Darlene ?
Tasha Marie That part made me giggle because my good friend always would tell me that so & so got hit by a truck and that’s how the movie ended since I fell asleep or has to work and missed the end of some good movies, they got hit by a truck and in this it did, too bad he’s not around to say I told you!
No scene is disturbing because unlike several people i know its just a television show. The people are just playing characters they were assigned and paid to play. Love it loved every single scene.
There were a ton of things that could have made this list. It should’ve been a top 20 for sure. It’s one of the few shows to throw twists at me I never saw coming
Love the show. But if the Snells aren't killed off slowly and brutally by the Mexican Cartel in season 2 then the program is too stupidly unbelievable even for a tv show. Most of us know the real cartel wouldn't let the Snell's get away with killing Del without equal, if not more bloodshed as payback.
monokhem let me guess... you’re white and believe you YOURSELF could defeat the Mexican cartel. baby you clearly have no idea what they do to people. What other stereotypes do you have?
season 3 recap: marty runs to australia with rachel, charlotte, and wyatt. wendy runs the casino/hotel (named "The Ozark"), uses the cartel to war with kansas mob, destroys darlene, gets with charles who keeps the fbi off their back, they raise zeke, and jonah does the books. ruth is divided on which way to go, but decides to stay at the last second, becoming wendy's right hand.
@Max Dawson Nice. I just binge watched season 3 in two days flat! What a ride! Yes, these writers are so unpredictable, and this show is GREAT! They even had Reospeedwagon! Wow!
What is unique about Ozark is the point of view that is used when someone is shot. When Helen and Dell got killed, all you saw was the barrel of the gun or just the visual of the blood spatter. In a weird way, it actually adds to the intensity.
I just started watching this show 3 weeks ago. I can’t believe I’m the only one I know who is watching it. Honestly I didn’t realize it was as good as it is and only started watching it because Jason Bateman is in it. I had a crush on him when I was a kid. I can’t remember the name of the show but he was a teenager at the time.
Sometimes I have to close one eye and brace myself for what I think is another disturbing moment about to happen...and feel equal relief when it doesn't. This show has my nerves on edge from all that's happened so far.
When I thought the pastor was going to drown his baby I said to myself, this is the most brutal thing i've ever seen on television. Glad it was just a baptism.
Does anyone remember when someone was giving an advice to someone (lol) and it says like ‘there is the pain you can control and the pain that controls you’?? I know it isn’t exactly like this but i really wanted to remember because it was a beautiful advice
That is the funny thing about what some call acceptable. I used to watch the Walking Dead loyally and even a lot of folks in different churches I've known would throw watch parties for it. Apparently as long as the language is limited the endless warfare and zombie gore is perfectly fine in the eyes of Jesus lol.
If you've seen the show then you already know it; but for entry #6 they should have talked about how the pastor got home just to find the baby. That's one of the best scenes of a Netflix original.
When the cartel thug pulled off Marty's toenails.......... the only scene that made me squirm and look away. And when Mason tries to "christen"/drown the baby. Really, too many disturbing scenes to choose from!
But he has a boss in Mexico. The way I see it they have everything set up to be ramped up in season two. Mexican next level badasses meet Snells and an increasingly unhinged FBI presence. Plus: Ruth's dad gets out.
I felt like the show hinged on Del and the feeling of impending doom (del) always looming on the horizon. He could show up at any time, had no problem killing or torturing, and always got what he wanted. I'm very interested to find out how they keep that feeling or what direction they go.
I went in thinking " meh.." and left thinking " THA FUCK I JUST WATCH I NEED MORE " . Holy shit, this show is so good. It's a show where you can't just watch one episode and come back. You're in it till the end.
I think it's unfair to compare it to Breaking Bad. Really, the only thing that's the same is the main character is a family man and he's laundering money for the cartel rather than cooking meth. That's really where the similarities end. Breaking Bad is a masterpiece in a league entirely their own. Ozark should be judged on its own merits and only compared to other genre shows. Nothing will stand up to Breaking Bad, so unless you end your TV watching career right there, you will be disappointed with every thing else you come across, no matter how watchable - even addictive.
Not to sound like a kill joy but I've watched both shows and any sane person with a substantial amount of logic can conclude the fact that Ozark is really really dark than breaking bad. I mean breaking bad is by far one of the best shows out there but Ozark is really something. It's too dark and with all those twists, it makes up for a great show.
If the characters in this show were other animals, well, Marty Byrd would be a cricket. Yes. Marty reminds me of a cricket. And Wendy would be a wasp, Charlotte would be an antelope Jonah would be a muskrat Ruth would be a… hummingbird Wyatt would be waterfowl, maybe a duck. Ruth’s dad would just be a poop stain I’ll get back with you on the rest.
The scene between Wyatt and Darlene should be #1 most disturbing
This was just about season 1. I dry heaved in season 3 with Wyatt and Darlene.
Shit you're right that made me to come on RUclips

I think he was trying to kill the baby to begin with because of the forceful way Pastor Mason grabbed the baby out of the car seat. When he thought the baby had drowned, he pulled him out only to realise that the baby was still alive and was protected by God or something.

You mean breaking bad is good? Yeah, sitty series with an entire episode when jesse try to catch a fly. Very good show
I have a watch Mojo idea, top 10 Rick and Morty plot twists
Ruth is a most controversial character, it seems to me. On the one hand, she is going to cry at any moment, on the other hand, she is a tough cooky.
all the best moments, from the first season where nothing happened
Underrated show
This show is diamond
Lowkey was made when they killed Del. I loved his character 😭
Didn’t Marty remember that there’s always money in the banana stand?
Ok, content is getting there
If the characters in this show were other animals, well, Marty Byrd would be a cricket.
Yes. Marty reminds me of a cricket.
And Wendy would be a wasp,
Charlotte would be an antelope
Jonah would be a muskrat
Ruth would be a… hummingbird
Wyatt would be waterfowl, maybe a duck.
Ruth’s dad would just be a poop stain
I’ll get back with you on the rest.
This show is so unreal
That shoe that flings off really sells #5
