In fact, we Filipinos grew up in our environment hearing these kind of music and we tried to sing a long with it because it makes us happy though 3/10 filipinos are wack at singing 😄, but still we love these kind of music more than anything else. I don't know if you're a filipino or not ... but in the philippine islands that's how we do it,when we covered songs,we tried to sound like the originals,what you heard in the cd or in the radio ... people expected you to sing like the originals,your bandmates expected you more to do the same .... it's pressured to be a singer there bcuz of expectations from both sides if I were the one to say ... I've been singing in a couple of cover bands before coming to the u.s playing songs from the 80's (a little bit) & 90's like nirvana, smashing pumpkins,pearl jam,soundgarden,bush & alice in chains & I do the same,tried to sing like them as hard as I can ... but most of the songs we played are from the 90's since we are an alternative rock band ....... even though,I am a songwriter now,sometimes I still cover songs from U2 or nirvana & doing the same try to sound like them ... and people came to me & they'll always say,man you sing like bono or kurt cobain,you sounded like them ... I always tell them,this is how we do in the philippines,this is normal to us ....... have a good day !!!
