I know this is an old video but I'm hoping you read this. I have the same bike but even on max revs right before redline I just can't get the front up in 2nd gear. 1st gear is no problem at all. But in first gear I get the front up but then before I manage to do more than say 25 meters I redline and come down again. If I shift mid wheelie I come back down again. Do you manage to keep the wheelie up for long or does the bike bring you down eventually? I think a sprocket upgrade might be the only way for me to get this right.
Thats right I havr a 2 tooth smaller front sprocket, and I starting the wheelie on second gear and after that I am shifting up. First gear is really short. With this sprocket max speed is about 150kmh, but I am shifting until four gear, and still wheelie goes 😉👍
I ride the same motorbike. It is definitely possible in 2nd gear with the original transmission. It's all a matter of your posture. I did a wheelie course with a stunt rider and then learned it in 4 weeks with the Dakar. Practice in first gear. With the right posture and clutch, you need no more than 1/4 throttle. After that, you can do it automatically in second gear (it's easier), but then you need min. 3/4 throttle on the Dakar, preferably at a speed of between 35 and 40 km/h.
hope the trip is going well. we just meet at the Golden campsite in BC a few days ago. Might cross paths in Alaska

Thanks so much!
Do you have a link to the sprocket you bought?
