It'd make a lot of sense actually, simon knows a lot about the occult and probably knows how to summon him It is kind of funny to imagine simon doing the ritual tho
The AT crew were fantastic but they didn't plan AT out that well from the beginning, they just had a really good habit of going back for small details and making them matter to the story!
I don't write, but one thing I've learned over the years of watching way too much entertainment is that it's probably a good idea to throw in a few things early on in your story that you DON'T explain, and on the off chance you happen to write an absolute hit that gets multiple sequels, now you have however many opened threads you can go back to later, and it looks like you had more planned from the beginning than you actually did. I doubt this is a revolutionary idea, and wouldn't be shocked if it's some trope writers have a phrase specifically for.
