    Clean the speaker grill! Mine didn’t look dirty at all, but cleaning it fixed the problem.
    At first I tried using scotch tape to pull out any debris, but it didn’t remove anything. Next I used 90% isopropyl alcohol and a soft bristle toothbrush with thin bristles. I poured some isopropyl alcohol onto the brush and brushed back and forth lightly in all directions (avoiding the camera) and moved the toothbrush up and down all over the grill in hopes that the bristles would poke through the little holes. I also blew on it a couple times, and now it works!

    Most of the time the mesh gets blocked with dirt. The holes are too small and they get blocked up easily. I normally clean with alcohol and tooth brush and then also the smallest pin to clean the holes under a microscope very carefully.

    I had been using lots of hand sanitizer on my 11 pro and I think it clogged up the top speaker. Cleaning with a toothbrush helped maybe 60% restoration. I’m thinking I need to use something to clean out the residual the sanitizer may have left behind in the mesh. Thanks for the video.

      its not gonna fix it %99 of the time. Just put thick screen protector and its making a deep pool around earspeaker when you put alcohol on it. With a full pool play bass music for 20 minutes, watch alcohol waves on the pool LOL start to spray the shit out of earspeaker with alcohol and leave it to dry. after 1 hour it will be like a NEW ONE i guarentie you. it will sound terrible during the proccess DONT PANIC after it dried it iwll be like new one( 1 hour later)

    Hi if you got this problem again and replacing the speaker do not work at ALL.... I am a tech in electronic i own a cell phone, tablet, computer repair shop... I did find the cause if the speaker has been replace and the problem is still there, then the flex cable solder to the speaker with some face id chip/sensor on top need to be replace... If you want the face id working again the original flood sensor need to be solder back to the new flex cable. Hope i could help.

    A family member bought me an XR rebuilt by Apple as a Christmas gift for a work phone. And it has a similar issue with both speakers. The earpiece is the worst of them all. The actual speaker itself is sort of distorted but i can live with it. The ear piece one is insanely annoying when your trying to talk on the phone. Is there a chance it’s just really clogged with dust or something? I have always had Samsung phones and my note series and s22 ultra are like night and day compared to this iPhone

    Yes solved my s10 front speaker by using a sanitizer and a brush
    The mesh gets clogged usually and that makes the sound crackle

    I have a brand new 11 pro Max and the top speaker sounds blown. Can’t be dirt or gunk. Just took it out of the box 30 minutes ago. Over 500 people in the Apple community site are having the same issue.

    i record the video on iphone x (1080 (30 / 60fps), 4k (24,30,60fps)) and play the same video, crackle sounds .. when i play music everything is ok..when i talk everything is ok..when i play something on youtube, fb, instagram everything is ok .. do you know maybe what's the problem?

    • @daveb6239
      @daveb6239 5 лет назад +2

      Not a professional opinion: It sounds like your recording mic is what causes the cracking if all other audio plays normally. I would also check the front-facing camera recording as I believe that uses a separate mic. Did you end up resolving this issue?

    I used a fine stiff brush on it, brushed it a couple of times in different directions, and then the problem went away!
    The cause of the problem was dust/gunk in my case.

    I've tried cleaning my iphone x speaker mesh using normal toothbrush and the volume increases but it leave a distorted sound. I'm about to lose hope and leave as it is but then I tried using a brush with soft thin bristle poking the mesh slightly for several times to clear the holes. Now the speaker is crystal clear.
