I'm so happy to hear about the QOL improvements - especially the friendship and prices. Everything was SO expensive in the first game, I couldn't decorate my farm at all because every penny went to the essentials, and I never finished the story because it took so long to make friends with everyone.
Me either, in general I hate XSEED feels the need to hide any form of Japanese culture & ethnicity in their English translated games. Always changing it to a western name, personally I really appreciate and like to see new names. It gets tiring seeing Bob, John and Jane for the millionth time over. Some names I guess I could understand because perhaps it’d be too confusing to pronounce, but other names like Nobi like cmon- anyone can pronounce that. Same reason I’m salty with RF5 making Ryuka into Ryker. Like whyyyyy??? Or RF4 Kiru into Kiel (at least Kiel is a cool name) but the original Japanese names were perfectly fine as is. I don’t like the changes.

The name change wasn't an Xseed decision. The characters were named in English when the cartoon was brought over in the 1970s. But yeah, still is dumb.
Agreed. I know it's their Disney XD dub names but Doraemon is WAY more popular in Asia than in the US so they really could've at least kept their Japanese names since its what their biggest audience (even on general non-US English speaking side) are more used to.
I played the first one but it was really tiring and slightly annoying to make progress because of how much grinding was needed. I certainly don't mind (and even kind of like) a bit of grind, it makes things feel more rewarding but the first game was on another level with it. The second one has been SO enjoyable, harvestella has distracted me from it but I'll definitely be going back to it at some point.
Same here, I like some grind for a challenge but that game was overkill and it was hard to keep track of quests and what to do next, I often had a small notebook with me everytime I played. It did get tiring, so I never finished.
@@eggegg8181 they're MUCH different games. There's a huge emphasis on combat in harvestella and it's much more a like to say rune factory. But personally I am enjoying harvestella much more. The story is really good and I like the combat. But it does start off slow, it takes like 13ish days in game to start picking up. But it's worth it!
I absolutely adored the first game, but the second game is SO much better. I agree with what you said about the villagers and dialogue, everyone is just so adorable and likeable, and have real character development as you go through their events. The game isn't afraid to mention more adult themes like the loss of a loved one, and chronic illness but it does it in such a cosy way and makes everyone feel so much more real. I also love the feeling of living with a group of friends, and the fact that they can help you with chores is the best feature and it should be in every game going forward, it would be lovely to do it with your spouse in future games. This feels like the older story of seasons games, and it's so much better for it. P.S Josh, I didn't know you could buy stamina boosters from the clinic, I found out in your stream yesterday, so thankyou so much!
ever since the first game came out i've been praying for more games made in this art style. it's soooo beautiful and I love all the little details in the different buildings.
Doremon is such an underrated show and I hate that it flopped in the west because disney put it on disney xd. I love the show and now watched all of it and love the show and love that the games are in the west
Am totally loving the great kingdom and have played the demo and I have to honestly say it really appeals to me definitely going to get it over Harvestella. This game is what the first doreman should of been.
This looks cool! I only just started SoS Friends of Mineral Town remake and I'm super excited for Wonderful Life, but at some point I wanna check this one out, too! It looks pretty charming and fun, and like it offers an interestingly different flavor of game compared to the mainline SoS games.
One thing, is furnitures in home is better? Like we can actually sit and eat kn table, read books, studying in the nobi desk? Since the 1st game furniture serve as decorations mostly and no purposes. Edit: Nvm my previous comment, the game felt like different yet faimilar game. The story is different and not a sequel of the last game. The villages totally different, the farm is larger than 1st game. But so far I missed we can modify our house. The newer game we can upgrade them but not totally changing anything inside it. But those QOL, we are now live together in one roof with Doraemon gangs, still yet how to get companions for helping me mining/fishing,etc. I dont have other people to play coop locally with me sadly..

This game is amazingly good. I enjoyed the first one but the second one is just so much better that I will never go back to the first. It's less grindy, I feel like I am making progress, the characters and world is more fun and interesting too. The QOL improvements is just too good. It's not my favorite farming game. Not too complicated and not too simple too. Just perfect!
Can't wait to get Pip! He's such a cute robot! And I agree, when I first saw Ori, I was like "aawwwww" everytime he was on screen. Definitely like the second one better. In the first one, everything was so expensive and yes extremely grindy, lost interest after awhile. I can tolerate SOME grind, but all in all, I play games for relaxation only. Life is enough of a grind...lol.
I have both games. I loved the first one, but as you said, it was very grindey. I bought the second one right when it came out on Switch and I love it!!! The quality of life changes are a major upgrade!!! It makes it more enjoyable!!!

And they totally dismiss the doraemon games because they "can't stand to play as a little boy! i just bought first game, and THEN i saw this video.... but im not mad, first i bought it for about 10$ and new one is full price. second - i loved harvest moon on psx, and it seems that the first game is much more like harvest moon (grindy and slow) , i thing ill have fun :D
The 1st Doraemon game is on sale on the switch eshop for $14.99. Definitely buying it, it's a steal. I'll wait for a sale for the second Doraemon game. Started playing the demo for the 2nd game, really fun.
Thank you sooo much for this. I already heard that the second game had a lot of improvements, but the info in this video is very precise and makes me confident I will enjoy it. I loved the story, visuals and feel of the first one, but the grindy nature made me stop playing because I felt like my time was wasted. I was looking into Pioneers of Olive Town as well but I think it looks a bit generic compared to the Doraemon titles.

I also had the running issue. It was annoying and actually made the game unplayable for me so I only played a short bit before selling it. I was on the switch.

I'm really enjoying the second game and it's the first time playing Doraemon but one thing I can't figure out is how to invite friends to help on the farm I thought maybe I need to build their friendship but they are already at 3-4 hearts so no clue if anyone know how to have them help let me know
@@JoshGamingGarden i think first house upgrade is the top priority to do... it unlock kitchen... unlock "friend help"... unlock fish/bug cage (so we can feed expensive low star fish to raise the star)... unlock lots of event including one that give horse... if possible do house upgrade at Day 4 (as soon as it available). so it will be finished at Day 8...
I didn’t know Friends of the Great Kingdom existed. I bought story of seasons because it was on sale for 15 dollars in the nintendo E-shop. I really want Great kingdom 😭.

A lot of people complain now about stuff being hard to get and games being tedious because they dont want to use their brains. 1st Doraemon was amazing… i got everything except on achievement cus i had to replay a chapter and make other decision. Farm decorated all gotten. It felt good… 2nd Doraemon is way way too easy and everything way too cheap plus too many cutscenes that is annoying. Year 1 day 18 i have house upgrade, bee and horse stable plus horse cow, alpaca, sheep and chickens. 3 cookware and upgraded my water can to silver and pick to copper and fishing rod. No effort at all. I fish next to my house all day make thousands easy. And thats without playing multiplayer.
i loved the first one although it was tough to grind. once you actually beat the game it feels so rewarding because its actually difficult and time consuming haha! i love the new one and how easy it is to befriend everyone, and i love the new fruit trees! i find in the new game that it is more difficult to forage than in the previous game
Spent a lot of time on the first one, still haven't complete the game. Don't want to left a game unfinished. On the other hand, i don't want to grind anymore.
The map is so confusing. I wish there was a interactive map and although it says in the controls section I can zoom in on the map, I can't which is odd

Definitely best modern SOS so far, despite the lack of romance. It's put together so well and with the beautiful graphics and QOL changes it's really good.
I did want to know the base answers to what you were saying but I do wish you would give less detail on what happens in the game, while they may not seem like spoilers, they are still spoilers because these are things I would prefer to find out by experiencing them but thanks for answering the frequently asked questions,. Just try not to go so into detail maybe, the next time you do this
From what I looked up on the series'wiki, apparently Doraemon is basically the Japanese equivalent of the fairy odd parents premise wise😅? Just intriguing as I am going with second game and got through the main tutorial, and I'm just intrigued by the series as it's like the kids got upset with their parents and got taken to another universe, yet none of them seem homesick and landed in a pretty chill story of season-esque farm town😅

As a French speaker, there is a huge down is that there is no french version anymore. The first game has a very nice french translation

You can make a ton lot of money by selling bread in the first game.

You need to build the first house upgrade to unlock that feature!
