I've seen him live several times - he's savage. I wasn't able to get front row seats - they always went first. If you do get the chance to see him live, jump at it - he's fantastic live. Great content as always.

Frankie Boyle remains my favourite stand-up comedian outside of my own country, humor so wonderfully dark that almost nothing is off limits.
I actually saw Frankie Boyle in a play once. He’s done some acting too. He was playing the role of Hamm in Endgame by Samuel Beckett in the Gate Theatre in Dublin (in Ireland).
I think that's the only thing he's done.

As a Scotsman, it's always interesting to see other nationalities' reactions to our very, very dark style of humour. The ruder you are to your friends is kind of a term of real friendship... Easy to say that no subject should be off limits but supposing you were in the audience & the stand up tells a rape 'joke', would a victim of rape or someone who has had a family member suffer a rape be laughing along with the rest of the audience? So many stand ups are just looking to shock. Cheap laughs at the expense of others. The stuff about the lad 'looking gay' & having a '4 cock mouth' how is that not homophobic? Sure you can laugh but material like this helps to perpetuate prejudice. Joke about something else.

To be honest Alan, I would not have the balls to sit in the first 10 rows of one of his shows. His abuse of the audience is, as you say, brutal, funny but brutal. Knowing me, I'd die of embarrassment if any comedian picked on me during a show.

I suggest you watch Stewart Lee. His performance is very different from that of Frankie Boyle, and both more intelligent and intelligible.
I've always been a fan, but he's just produced an anti Royal Family programme, apparently so savage and cruel that the TV channel that commissioned it have sidelined it and said it will never see the light of day because it has been deemed too far beyond the pale.

No, not really. Chapelle got "cancelled" as many tried to claim but he's stronger than ever with all of his controversy and comedians like Bill Burr who say non pc stuff are some of the most successful and famous comedians here. Granted their style of comedy, brutality and controversy is a bit different but they're still plugging away. He'd be seen by many as a breath of fresh air I'm sure.
