Rengoku Kyojurou was an absolute monster when he was alive in Demon Slayer Season 2, and in this video we explain why! As the Flame Hashira before the events of Demon Slayer Season 3 Swordsmith Village, Rengoku showed off amazing powers using his Flame Breathing, a style that many would say is the closest to the original sun breath style atleast in appearance, and Rengoku used this to absolutely dominate everyone he came across in the Kimetsu no Yaiba Demon Slayer Mugen Train movie, except for Akaza. Still Rengoku was able to singlehadedly give Upper Moon 3 a good fight and actually almost finished the demon off, and this is more impressive when you look at Season 3 or 2 and see what the other Hashira have to go through against WEAKER Upper Moons, with some even being able to take advantage of The Curse Mark and the Bright Red Sword technique, two things that Rengoku himself never awakened. If he did however, it’s easy to say that Rengoku might have been one of the STRONGEST Hshira, besides Gyomei.

To everyone saying "Akaza was holding back", yes he was. However, when the sun started to rise Akaza's life was in danger regardless of how threatening Rengoku was. There is no reason to assume Akaza wouldn't be trying his hardest to preserve his own life, and despite that a heavily injured Rengoku was able to hold him in place and force him to rip off his own arms to escape.
That’s very true rengoku is underrated,no hashira could solo akaza not even gyomei.
Edit:I did more research in the manga and I realise that gyomei slams akaza with red blade or mark Mb everyone 😅

@@clickz0r994 it’s like getting stabbed by curve blade and because of the curves people have quite the struggle getting it out, so most people end up leaving the curved blade since it’s stuck in there body, so in the curve blade is example of Akaza arm since the arm isn’t like straight tube since it got lumps and bumps .

He lost the battle, but won the war. By saving Tanjiro and everyone on the train, Rengoku showed Tanjiro how to set his heart ablaze. He used that and got all the way to Muzan. So technically, Rengoku was the ultimate tool in defeating Muzan.

Most never mention how he was exhausted during that fight. He ran up and down that train at full speed for at least 30 min while protecting civilians and the young demon slayers. If he was at full strength without everyone in the way, he might have won that fight.

I don't understand why people keep saying Rengoku could have beaten Akaza under hypothetical circumstances. Guess they haven't read the manga. No one, I repeat, no one can even touch Akaza without entering Selfless State, because of his Compass Needle. And it is mentioned that Akaza intentionally prolonged his fights because he enjoyed fighting. Rengoku never stood a chance even if he had awaken his Slayer mark and Red Blade. You can't kill what you can't hit.

Base rengoku caught a fully serious punch from akaza after getting punched through the chest, then halfway decapitated akaza in that exchange. Id like to think a marked rengoku would’ve been able to decapitate him (although decapitation wont kill him necessarily) the thought of rengoku holding him there til daybreak and passing away after being the only hashira to tie with a top 3 upper moon would be an awesome conclusion to his legacy. 🔥

If tanjiro was as strong as now in mugen train, then maybe he would have helped rengoku more and maybe the story would have been different
No I don't think it would have changed as in the infinity castle tanjiro had to use dsm with 12 forms of sun breathing. Even giyu who is stronger than rengoku had to use his dsm but they still couldn't completely defeat him until akaza decided to kill himself

@@illumination_0109 What you said here is exactly my reason to call it a resolve amp. How is it that when he was perfectly healthy, he couldn't do shit to make Akaza serious AT ALL. But now when he is so severely injured and exhausted, he can make him struggle? That's an asspull if anything only to give Kyojurou a good end rather than being disposed off like a weakling. Koyoharu does this very often where they make the fight VERY one sided but do an asspull at the end. Like against Douma, Shinobu stood no chance at all, even if she was for some time faster than Douma. But in the end, it turns it out was her plan. Muichirou got bodied by Kokushibou, but he was given one last stand against him, he played a vital role in killing Kokushibou whn he doesn't even have the stregnth and speed to even touch Kokushibou.
A different anime but gives a good example of resolve amp (resolve amp doesn't only apply to one anime, works the same for almost all animanga). Naruto when he fought Kaguya, he alone couldn't do shit for the most part and had to resolve to tactics than pure strength or speed. Yet after a while when Kaguya is stated to be exponentially stronger than previously, he could speed blitz her. Why? Resolve amp cuz they just disrespected Obito, an ally of Naruto. Asspulls come in various forms, in REngoku's case, it was resolve amp.

Unfortunately they could never fight them alone. Besides doma shuts down their lungs and has the most broken blood demon art which is also the most effective against hashiras.
It took 3 marked Hashira to even have a chance against Kokushibo, and even then it was bloody and not without losses. Rengoku would get ran through so quickly.

2. He would stop randomly in the fight to convince Rengoku to become a demon
3. He had a special ability to sense all attacks using fighting spirit, and Tanjiro had to awaken Selfless State to even be able to hit Akaza. If it was used in the fight, Rengoku would've never been able to hit him, showing Akaza just wanted to have fun fighting
4. Ig he never showed that he could regenerate his head, so even if Rengoku were to successfully cut it off it wouldn't have done anything

Rngoku’s speed is super underrated
Rengoku might not be the strongest. But that dudes character design and characteristics was the best. He was the epitome of what you would want in a leader.

If he got trained by his dad more and mastered the flame breathing. He would have been a top 3 hashira

See it does not matter whoever says Rengoku is Loser or Donut...He Freaking saved every single passanger and Fought uppermoon so hard that he started getting panicked without Slayer mark and any help he soloed akaza in his base form he was injured badly still managed to cut akaza head half and stopped his supersonic punch he managed to survive till morning and akaza was not able to win the battle and yes Rengoku died from that freaking injury not from that Basketball Rengoku is the moat Dedicated and bravest hashira litreally every hashira remembers him when they are dying and get some will power even rengokus freaking crow cried Set your Heart Ablaze ❤️🔥
He is stronger than what some people think, as he installed Akaza so that the sun would burn him, even though he was in his worst condition, in addition to protecting the rest He did not reach his full strength due to training alone, and if one of the Hashiras had been in his place, he would have died a while ago
A few things, but before akaza even arrived tanjiro was saying the sun was about to come up anyways so akaza and rengoku fought for like 10 minutes max and like 2 of the minutes is probably akaza just talking tbh he never tried to stall akaza rengoku was going straight for the kill this is shown during the start when rengoku after seeing akazas air type i believe rengoku was like I can’t fight him at range so I’ll have to end it now and tries to blitz akaza by aiming for his neck which didn’t work
Akaza did hold back, but even holding back Akaza Is universes beyond every other uppermoon under him. Considering he knew half of his breathing, and he didn't have any amps at all, Rengoku did really good. Remember Akaza also has the perfect counter to someone like him with a strong burning fighting Spirit. Imo he could have been 3rd or 2nd strongest hashira if fully developed.

So canonically there is no special effect. In my head there is, but that's another thing. As for Who can take Akaza, i believe the most important thing would just be to have Red Blade and selfless state, and be fast enough to at least be on his level. There are many hashiras Who could, with a Mark, be strong enough to get to his level of Speed, if they got the selfless state Akaza ability Is useless since It uses fighting Spirit of the opponent, and with Red Blade every hit would matter. If Rengoku managed to do exactly what he did without all of those things, with the amps he would win for sure, same for guys like Sanemi, Gyomei and possibly Tomioka.
Rengoku with full breathing techniques + DS mark + red blade would probably be 3rd strongest behind Gyomei and Sanemi

At that point, Akaza's life was in danger and he had no logical reason to hold back, yet he still could not pull away from Rengoku despite Rengoku being heavily injured. I think given that, Rengoku with a mark and red blade could probably match or get very close to Akaza

What happened to Kyojuro was just purely unlucky, he encountered not one, but TWO moons, Lower moon 1 and Upper moon 3 ON THE SAME MISSION. Theres honestly not a single demon encounter more unlucky than that one. Had Akaza never shown up Rengoku would still be alive.

Okay evidence one, in the infinity castle arc Akaza flat out says that Rengoku was at his peak, and when he did ask rengoku to become a demon it wasn’t so he could get stronger. If Akaza wanted to fight someone stronger than him he would be chilling with doma. He wanted Rengoku to become a demon so his skills doesn’t deteriorate with age.
Evidence two: saying rengoku could go toe to toe with Uppermoon two is wild because he has no feats as he’s just a conceptual what if you made up

People keep saying that Rengoku fans overrate him alot. I see some that do but goddamn do alot of people downplay him even more. They never give him credit and saying that his fight with Akaza was not impressive. Dude literally held Akaza in place and was halfway through his neck. Yeah it cost him his life but if he held him for a few more seconds Akaza would've turned to erasure shreds. Akaza was serious when fighting Rengoku, but he did not give it his all. But seeing Akaza's reactions in both the manga and anime. Rengoku was definitely the best fight he had

Rengoku sacrificed any chance of survival to almost kill Akaza in two different ways, his sword was going through his neck, and he had him trapped the point where he had to rip his arms off to run away from the sun

Even though he was the first to go, Rengoku was without a doubt the heart of the Hashiras. His journey as a Hashira was not driven by anger and revenge, but rather by a sense of duty to protect the weak. He really could have just gone on living comfortably since his family’s rich and his dad didn’t want him to be a demon slayer, but he picked up the blade anyway and taught himself Flame Breathing based off incomplete records.
There’s little point in measuring how good a Hashira is based on their strength, because at the end of the day it’s about saving as many people as they can. And Rengoku, on his final mission, dealt with two Moon Demons and still made sure everyone survived, even his juniors. It cannot be stressed enough how impressive that is. We continue to see cameos of him throughout the series because that’s his impact on our main characters. He is loved by the Hashiras and boosted their rage against the Upper Moons. His will lives on in Tanjiro. His time on the series may have been short, but his influence even long past his death is nothing short of amazing.

Rengoku had a bloody trickle mark on his forehead, his grip strength was strong enough to force Akaza to rip off his own arm to escape, and he has a red sword.
He was close to having an actual demon slayer mark and a bright red nichirin sword, but was unable to do it.

Akaza had to give up two arms just to escape from a dying Kyojuro who had a hole through his stomach. If Akaza “still wasn’t trying” while he did that as the sun was coming up, that’s cap.
He wasn't trying, but he underestimated Rengoku. But, the only reason he ran is because of the sun, if the sun wasn't a problem, he would've kept fighting Rengoku and realize that Rengoku isn't as weak as he thought, which means he will use his full power

You can notice a thing with upper moons, they laugh when they're only using a little bit of their power, but when they get serious, they drop the smile and go all out.

And I'm not downplaying Rengoku, he survived until it was almost sunrise, but he didn't overpower because his attack got blocked.

Rengoku with a demon slayer mark would of still lost but man would it have been cool. He might have been able to force akaza to retreat and wouldn't have ended up dead (just injured and defeated)

Akaza was holding back majorly he was playing around with his food, he was more focused on convincing Rengoku to join him than anything.
A lot of hashira that die or retire early on have potential to become some of the strongest VERY quickly. Rengoku READ his way to breathing because his dad refused to teach him iirc, no mark and no crimson sword and he nearly pulled his one win con against a suppressed akaza through sheer will alone.
And Tengen- with far too many abilities to count, wouldve easily become top 5 had he more refinement with his sound breathing.
Both of these guys with curse mark and crimson blades would’ve been 2 and 3 respectively, no doubt

Rengoku is not weak. Even without the Demon Slayer Mark, and the limited amount of info he had on flame breathing, he literally was this close 🤏 to killing Akaza, who a lot of people say wasn't trying, but no demon ever tries unless they know their life is in danger, and even when Akaza was using all of his power to get away from the sun, Rengoku literally *overpowered him in his place, almost beheading him, until he tears his arms off and runs away.*
You guys also have to give the weaker Hashiras their props, *since they have to deal with the cracked BDAs* the other moons had. Tengen had to deal with *literal flying poison blood*, while *protecting his wives, and 3 main characters, while also avoiding the attacks of a flying belt.* Even though Tengen is a little bit behind in power, *he probably had one of the toughest fights in this show.*
Rengoku had a lot of factors holding him back, besides protecting Tanjiro and the other Slayers who were gonna die there, *he didn't know every form of Flame Breathing, [I believe, I'm not that much of a nerd] also doesn't have Slayer Mark, or Bright Red Sword Technique. The other Hashira NEEDED these techniques to stay in the game. [Several other Hashira didn't have some of these techniques, like Tengen, who didn't have any of this] Rengoku had nothing, and built everything he had off a half torn book.* If had these, he'd be on par with gyomei.
He can only use the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Ninth forms, since he wasn't taught by his father
Bro Gyomei is built different. The fight towards the end was pure fan service to the character and a proper goodbye. If he didn't have that moment people would feel incomplete and not so satisfied from his death. So the writer wrote that way in order to create likeability to Rengoku. Whereas later in the Manga it is revealed that Akaza is actually much stronger than what we saw in the Mugen train. He had countless other techniques and never even used some of them in his fight against Rengoku.
I am quite impressed with rengoku. when he tried to chase the devil on the train tracks. using breathing techniques to gain speed while he runs

Don't get it wrong,I love Rengoku,for his fighting spirit,Charm,dedication for the DS Corp and the efect he has on Tanjiro,and I also fell sorry for his Death,and even If he activated his DS Mark he would have still lost :((( (it took DS Mark Tanjiro and DS Mark Giyu to weaken Akaza)
And don't forget that the Demon Slayer in this generation are one of the strongest beacuse the only other generation that might have defeated upper demons is probably the Sengoku era Demon Slayers

Akaza actually held back the whole fight because he wanted to enjoy it it is true rengoku almost beat him but it was because of the sun
There's also the fact that Rengoku wasn't at full strength at the time of that fight since he was running up and down the train at full speed for at least 30 minutes while protecting the civilians and young demon slayers beforehand.
To be fair, Akaza was trying to recruit him the whole time and did not want to kill him.
He still made akaza panic, and even if he didnt want to kill him, he stabbed his fist through his chest and rengoku was able to hold him down, which shows that rengoku was a beast in terms of strength and potential.

And Yes, he took it seriously at the end when the sun was rising, but I believe most hashira aside from maybe muichiro, shinobu, and obanai could have held akaza there. If akaza was taking the fight seriously from the start, rengoku would have died MUCH sooner. The only reason akaza was in that situation was because he was cocky. And don't forget, it takes Incredible strength to rip both of your arms in half.

But whatever is keeping your arms in place needs to exert the exact same amount of force in order for it to happen. Otherwise, Akaza should have easily just pulled out his arms. But no, Akaza looks like he tore off his arms like they were stuck in a wall. Meaning Kyojuro was exerting at least similar strength to Akaza pulling his arms out, while dying.

I was introduced to this anime just a few weeks ago. im a grown man and i still tear up when i saw this guy die. There was just something so noble and godly about him. My old man who has no connection to the world of anime, sat with me when the fight between Rengoku and Akaza took place. The animation was amazing but the whole built up and sequence of good vs evil was just so astonishing to marvel at. My old man actually got into it when lil tanjiro and the boar boy started charging at the end to help Rengoku but the despair at the end. Sheer heartbreak. My favorite, no doubt.
