Her feeding them the flower was just a rumour. She warned them that the flowers were dangerous when they were little and they ate the flower anyway. Plus I don't see how that is logical at all. Especially with how long ago. It surely should have left their system after years on end. Also muzan became a demon thru the blue spider lily flower mixed with some herbs and other things and not fully completed. Now it could have been a mix of the flower still in her system combined with the stronger connection to sun breathing thanks to tanjiro and that she heavily focused on conquering the sun which is why she was being so childish all the time. But when demon king tanjiro conquered the sun muzan said it was all down to him using sun breathing. So who knows.
