That is fantastic to hear, I am very happy you are enjoying it. 🥰The Yamaha V6A is one of our top-sellers and provides excellent sound quality and performance! What have you been watching/listening to with yours?
Just brought this a v receiver what can I say but fantastic a must buy for anyone who is looking to upgrade you will be amazed once you put it all together 👍👍👍👍👍
How did you setup your 2ch stereo bass management especially with a CD player? I’ve got no bass on 2ch stereo when playing a CD. A little better with streaming but not by much?
I love Crutchfield so much back in the day mid 80s Crutchfield magizine was my google and Utube ! and my audio Bible ! I remb when friends would let me borrow their magazine for a week at a time and i would just day dream about all the Audio in the mag, but trust me my friends wanted that magazine with in a week or they was ready to have a fit lol true story Thanks Bill Crutchfield awesome memories !
Got the 6a. Love it. Have always paired Yamaha with Bose speakers, per the recommendation of several sources, and these rock! Make the outdoor Boses speakers sound good, as well. Long live Crutchfield!!
I'd like to hear your take on this HDMI 2.1 debacle. Most other youtubers agree that a software update will never fix it simply because it is a hardware issue.
@@crutchfield KRK Rokit 6 G3 active studio monitors. I got them for my 21st bday years back and have been using them with RCA to 3.5mm jack to my TV ever since I got a tv. I didn't quite appreciate the thing now though that most speakers are passive and the recievers/amplifiers generally only have outputs for passive speakers (except for the subwoofer) as your main speakers, which I found out the hard way by wondering wtf is going on why can't I just plug my RCA to RCA cable to one of the 'audio 2/3/4) slots on the rx-b4a (it arrived this afternoon) and hear sound. Turns out I need to buy a 'speaker-level to line-level adaptor' (found out from one of the crutchfield videos actually!) to convert the RCA plug to the regular speaker wire, whilst it also filters the power coming from the reciever so it doesn't fry my active speakers. Seems like kinda backwards for this day and age to not have standard support for active speakers, especially cos of the fact it seems you have to pay top dollar for a really good reciever to power powerful speakers, whereas life would be so much easier and cheaper if the speakers can power themselves.
Some receivers have preamp outputs allowing external amps or powered speakers to be connected to them. When the front main Left/Right channels will be the only audio channels used with powered speakers (or external amp), the V6A model can be used: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_022RXV6ABL/item.html
@@crutchfield thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately though here in the Netherlands the v6a is €739, Vs €539 for the v4a, so it's quite an extra expense just for that extra functionality (I only have a 2 speaker set up, so the extra 7.2 Vs 5.2 is wasted for my purposes). So I'll see with the line level adapter if it works, if not looks like I'll have to cough up.
@@crutchfield Is the v4a also can be connected to external powered speakers? Or only the v6a? Then how can i set up using only front main left and right speakers? Pls reply as I not sure which one to buy.
Of course you can stream music to the RX-V4A and 6A over bluetooth from your phone - it is a standard function of all Yamaha MusicCast devices. And of course it support Airplay2 also.
Hi Crutchfield, I appreciate your answer regarding the Yamaha RX-V4A and the ELAC 2.0 B6.2 speakers. The original poster deleted their post so our comments no longer exist. But, I was still able to see your answer on my notification. I will shop your store for these items. Many thanks.
Hi Team, I have a question . In the previous Yamaha receivers models , they have a setting to adjust subwoofer crossover when in LFE mode. But in this model V6A , yamaha remove subwoofer crossover and replaced it with ( center , 2 fronts and surround crossover ) Someone told me to set all the speakers to 60hz , so the subwoofer will go down to 60hz , but I doubt it Is there anyway to adjust subwoofer crossover setting in this model ? Thanks
I do not see any mention in the owner's manual of being able to apply a crossover to the audio being output to an external subwoofer. I do not expect it has crossover for limiting the subwoofer outputs
Looks like a great unit but I'd love them to make one that has less in it so just to work with a 4k player set top box and a console, they seem over complicated and they would be cheaper if some of these functions where not added.
Bought this reciever (RX-V4A) about 6 to 7 months ago. Went from Onkyo to Yamaha. That was a mistake. It isn't passing HDMI signals through. Sometimes all you'll get is the audio and no video. Sometimes you'll get nothing. Before anyone starts fussing at me... I hooked up multiple devices to the same HDMI port to ensure it wasn't the other A/V device, I tried different HDMI ports, I changed out the cables with fresh straight-out-of-box cables, and I even skipped the receiver entirely in my set up running straight to the TV. In all scenarios, anytime the receiver is touching my signal path, I get a "No signal" message on my TV. Reset all devices multiple times, pulled out cables and reinserted all cables... I mean, what else could I do? I'm actually online looking for a how-to on factory resetting. I can't even activate a firmware check because the receiver can't even directly connect from itself to a TV. "No Signal". Are you frickin kidding me??? Yamaha, I'm guessing was a mistake. I only picked it up because there were no Onkyos on the shelf. Lesson learned... Unless someone has some words of wisdom to share soon, I'm going to purchase an Onkyo 7.2 receiver in a couple of days.
These receivers can display the audio format they are playing. This is one of many possible content to display so you must choose it as the information to be displayed
I have problem with mine v4a. When i turned it on message comes up on the panel 'usb update' , and all the buttons in front doesn't respond.Do I have to download some files and use the usb sticker to do the update? The tv doesn't even recognise the unit anymore...please for advice thanks
It sounds like your receiver is looking for an update file on a USB drive. The manual recommends you check that the new firmware is stored on the USB flash drive. If that started coming up and you have not tried to update the firmware on it, then we are not sure of the cause and recommend contacting technical support for help. If you purchased your receiver from us, you can contact our technical support for the help. We include their toll free phone number on the order invoice
I have the A2A. They are built really well. Probably the best remote control I have seen on an AVR. However, like the V4 and V6, there is HDR10 color banding on some 2020 model TVs. Namely Sony and LG TVs. Atmos is kinda broken right now as well. The center channel is playing height sounds with the height channels and it’s hard to distinguish between the overhead and center channels.
Yeah I think where they are limiting the features it’s cause the issues. I don’t look for HDR10 banding to be fixed until they unlock HDR10 plus or for atmos to work correctly until they unlock the virtualization features
I bought my yamaha rx v4a receiver not too long and I am having a problem on connecting a microphone as there is no microphone jack available. What is the best approach to it. I tried using an HDMI microphone but if I have the microphone plugged to one of the HDMI ports I can only use that port and I can not have a background music for karaoke. I tried putting my roku on the HDMI in of the microphone and connected another HDMI connecting the HDMI out to the receiver but the problem is the video doesn't project at all to TV.
The Yamaha RX-V4A is not designed for Karaoke use and does not have a microphone input for any function other than the YPAO room calibration. It may be possible to use as you intend but would rely on using third-party Karaoke specific gear connected with HDMI that Crutchfield does not offer. I hope this helps!
Pm I have a RXV4 a Yamaha I have no subwoofer. I have floorstanding large 12 inch speaker on my two main AB speakers. I need to know how to route the low frequency sound to those two main speakers. Thank you Joe
It is not possible to send the low frequency sounds from the subwoofer channel to the main speakers. We wish we had different news for you there. Typically, receivers only offer the ability to remove bass from the main channels and send it to the subwoofer channel
Make sure that the left and right channels are set to "large" in the audio setup. This will ensure that the amp sends the entire frequency spectrum to your towers and not cut the low frequency.
We bought a yamaha rxv4A and everytime we use youtube using our tv the surround speakers the small ones does not give out any sound is there something wrong with our set up?
Is this still good enough for 2024, my Denon has gone kaput and i need a new receiver. Was looking at the rxv4 cause its super cheap atm but i would like the option of having a 7.2. Not sure which one to go with.
The Yamaha RX-V4A or RX-V6A are excellent units. If are running 5-speakers now and you want the option of Atmos in the future, the RX-V6A is the best call!
You may wish to pull this video and re-do it. There's a lot of misinformation here. @0:40 "...100 watts for each of your speakers." This is misleading. It's 100 watts per channel in stereo mode only. When powering a multi-channel system it's less. @1:18 "...all of the inputs are HDMI 2.1." All 4 inputs on the RX-V4A are HDMI 2.1. Only 1-3 on the RX-V6A are 2.1. 4-7 are 2.0b. @1:46 "..they'll be able to pass along HDR10, HDR10+..." No mention of Dolby Vision which this receiver supports out of the box. HDR10+ is coming with a future firmware update, and on the 6A will only apply to inputs 1-3. @2:08 Your description of Auto Low Latency Mode is suspect. ALLM tells your TV to go into game mode. @2:31 "...enhanced audio return channel, so you can get Dolby Atmos from your TV." This isn't clear, but implies only eARC passes Atmos from your TV to your receiver, which is not the case. ARC can pass Dolby Digital Plus and if the stream has Atmos metadata then that will be included too.
They also left out the part where the HDMI chipset has a bug with 4K/120 and 8K/60 and that no one knows if it can be fixed without hardware replacement.
Both models include an infrared remote control. But you can also control them with your smartphone or tablet using the Yamaha MusicCast Controller app.
Hi, I’m running some B&W Floorstanders with a centre and B&W Bookshelfs for my rears. The V6A outputs at 100watts per channel but I’m wanting to add a separate amplifier to this receiver. What would you recommend to slightly give my speakers more power? Not Mckintosh price either lol..something that will compliment this reciever. Thanks in advance.
Great review. I am a beginner but purchased 2 Polk atrium 6 outdoor speakers for outdoor patio. (100w per speaker). Would this support the two atrium 6’s on zone 2 with a basic 2 speaker and 1 sub indoors tv room?
We can make sure you get a good match for that option. What brand and model speakers do you plan to use in the main room? Are there any other features or connections you need?
@@crutchfield I am not sure just yet. I would work around the specs of the Yamaha RX-v6a for speaker capability. More or less asking if it has the capability for 2.1 or 5.1 in addition to the 2 outdoor atrium 6 speakers
The Yamaha RX-V6A will support up to a 5.1 for the main room and the two zone 2 speakers. From there, we'd just want to be sure you have enough power for the speakers you choose. If we can help further, please let us know.
They would. The SVS Prime Bookshelf speakers linked below would sound fantastic connected to the Yamaha RX-V4A or RX-V6A. You can pair any SVS subwoofer of your choice and connect with the Yamaha's RCA subwoofer output, no sweat! www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc166/p_946PBKPG/SVS-Prime-Bookshelf-Piano-Gloss-Black.html
Looking forward to buy this receiver and replace my Rxv683,but want turn me otherwise abt 6A its the 4ohms speakers recommendation mine am using 8 omhs speakers
It will work just fine with 8-ohm speakers. Its front left/right channels are stable from 4-ohms and higher, and the rest of its speaker channels will work with speakers rated at 6-ohms or higher.
Hi Ronald, Sorry to hear about the issues with your setup. Yamaha does offer instructions for setting up the WiFi starting on pages 300 and 61 of the manual here: pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/ImageBank/v20201017145600/Manuals/022/022RXV4ABL.PDF If you got the receiver here, you can call our Tech Support as well. Their direct number is on your invoice.
The Yamaha RX-V4 does allow for bi-amping with a 3.1 setup. Both have MusicCast that supports Hi-Res audio via USB or DLNA and both are compatible with Apple Lossless (ALAC) up to 96kHz/24-bit, as well as FLAC and WAV music files up to 192kHz/24-bit.
Hello, I'm choosing a new reciever and I can't decide between Yamaha rx-v4a vs Marantz nr1510. Does anyone have any advice or own experience. thank you for any answer
These are both good brands. How many speakers do you plan to use? Do you have their models or specs handy? Are there any specific features or inputs you need?
Not with Bluetooth, but your home network. The RX-V4A is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 and Windows 7/8/10 compliant for audio networking. This means it's easier for you to access and enjoy digital music stored on your PC over your home network, as long as both your PC and the Yamaha RX-V4A are connected with Wi-fi or wired ethernet cable.
If your PC supports wireless Bluetooth audio output, you could stream via Bluetooth to the Yamaha receiver. But streaming via Wi-Fi will provide better sound quality typically and better wireless range.
I have the RX-V4A all in one and it sounds great, my only complaint is my 4k UHD led tv audio won't output to the receiver so I don't have the surround audio, the issue is it can't deal with over the air antenna. I even tried an optical connection to bypass the hdmi but this doesn't work either. But the user manual states that it does. I couldn't hear the Olympics audio on the surround just from the TV speakers.
Hello I need your advice with this 5.1 Home theatar configuration: AV receiver Yamaha RX-V6A ,Wharfedale Diamond 220 front and suround speakers, Wharfedale Diamond 220C central speaker and Wharfedale 10 MX subwoofer. At the moment my configuration is AV receiver Marantz NR 1504 and Wharfedale Diamond 220 front and suround speakers, Wharfedale Diamond 220C central speaker and Wharfedale 10 MX subwoofer. I would like to replace Marantz NR 1504 receiver as it lacks power to run these speakers (sound is good , but i think it can be better with more powered receiver) and my AV receiver of choice is Yamaha RX-V6A. What you think about this configuration, thanks in advance for help.
Hi there and thanks for reaching out! The Yamaha RX-V6A is a good power match for those speakers. The Wharfedale Diamond Series can benefit from the extra head-room on the receiver to sound their best. If you have specific questions about capability of the receiver and if it will meet your needs, feel free to contact an Advisor any time: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc313/support/ContactUs.aspx
Very nice!! 🔥 Yes, I think that Yamaha would be a nice power upgrade for your system overall. You also have the option of utilizing your Marantz's front pre-out connection to a power amplifier such as this one: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc384/p_543A2100/Russound-A2100.html and driving just the front two speakers with it at 100 watts, which would free up the Marantz to drive the rest at fuller power. Just a thought!
@@crutchfield Thank you very much for swift replay, i already contacted one of your advisors ( Tom) and he gave me similar answer, so i dont have to look further from Yamaha RX-V6A.
That is odd that the audio stops. Typically, its the video that stops playing from and Xbox series X. Did you check the receiver to make sure the correct input was selected?
I have looked all over the internet on information if the Yamaha RX-V4A will be able to push the ELAC B6.2 speakers. Some say yes, some say no and some say probably. 🙄 I guess there was a previous question on this topic but I was one of the unlucky ones and didn't get to see the response since it was deleted. 🤷♂️ Please help it would be greatly appreciated......thank you
@@Yiannis2112 just reviews on Amazon, Steve Guttenberg said they're hard to push and take alot of power. The Yamaha rx-v4a is 6ohm at an 80watts of power rating and Elacs B6.2 are 6 Ohm rated so they may sound muddy from not enough power. Some reviews said they have to turn the receiver way up just to hear them play. I don't like listening to loud play as I will use them for constant surround sound. Now for music and movies that's a different story.
@@joelgonzales7139 I'm not doubting anyone, but it's a 6Ohm speaker with 87dB sensitivity, max out power of 120W (unfortunately no rms measurement is given), two way, bass reflex type cabin and a 6.5 inch woofer. How hard can it be to drive? CNET's review doesn't mention anything about being hard to drive and they've used a Sony STR1080, which is 165 W (6 ohm, 1kHz, 1 ch. driven with THD 0,9%). Slightly more powerful than the Yamaha which is 145W. These guys don't mention anything either: audioplacebo.com/elac-debut-2-0-b6-2-review/ www.soundmanual.com/elac-debut-2-0-b6-2/ HiFiChoice's review also doesn't say anything relevant to them being difficult. Also, What Hi-Fi's review doesnt mention anything. They recommend a Marantz 6006 (a 6007 would also be fine) or a Cambridge Audio CXA61. Can't call those two, power beasts with 45W at 8Ohms (60W at 4) and 90W at 4Ohms (60W at 8). Only thing I can think of being possibly problematic is how much the RXV4 dips in power, when all channels are driven. However, we cannot possibly know this, as it's not stated in the specs. I wouldn't worry that much about this, though. With 60W at 6Ohms with 2 channels driven, the only thing the RXV4 would worry me, is not whether it can drive them, but how much if any, headroom it would provide.
That depends on what you are wanting to use it for! How many channels do you intend to run? What components are you planning on using? Do you do any gaming?
So are you able to have a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos setup with this Receiver? Or just a 7.2.2? Dolby Atmos is supposed to have 4 Speakers on the ceiling not 2 and by what im seeing in this video it only gives you the option for a 7.2.2.
We actually said you can Bluetooth audio into it. The part that cannot be done is to then take that audio and use the Bluetooth transmitter to send it out to your Bluetooth listening device. In other words, you cannot use both the built-in Bluetooth receiver and Bluetooth transmitter at the same time.
Hello need a bit of help with Yamaha A8A under HDMI control should standby sync be ON or AUTO? also under standby through should that be ON or AUTO? thank you any help will be appreciated thank you.🙏.
@@crutchfield cable box to the receiver, and the E arc cable from receiver to TV I just don’t know the standby sync if it should be on or auto and the standby through on or auto
The best setting will depend on your needs. When the RX-A8A is in standby mode (power off), the Standby Through feature allows HDMI source signals to pass through the receiver to the TV. The HDMI input can be changed using the remote control. So, there's no need to turn on the AV receiver in order to switch HDMI sources.
Can i use Yamaha 5.1 Channel Home Theatre Network Receiver (RXV4A) for my The Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.1 Channel Surround Sound System? Or what is your advice.. Thanks

The RX-V6A model will allow you to grow a system over time up to the 7.2 final setup. Here it is: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_022RXV6ABL/item.html
Well, there is now processing for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X as a result of having the extra amp channels in the RX-V6A. It also upgrades to a dual-room/dual-source output instead of a Zone B (must play the same source as the Zone A) that's found in the RX-V4A. The V6A also has a phono input for connecting a turntable as well as a 12V trigger output (used to turn on devices when the receiver turns on). Technically, there are different DAC's in them too which is to help process audio for the extra channels , the 6th and 7th channels, that are now available in the V6A model.
..if the firmware updates, yes there is a glitch in the updates which renders the receivers inoperable. Very unfortunate for Yamaha and it's customers because i think these RX receivers are handsdown the absolute best sound for the money.
Would it make any significant sound difference upgrading from the RX-V381 70 W to the RX-V6A 100W? I'm running them with the BOSE Acoustimass 6 system. Thanks
The power alone will not make a significant difference, but combine that with the more advanced YPAO room calibration that the RX-V6A can give and I do believe there will be a noticeable improvement in the sound from the V6A model.

I have no idea what I'm doing, and the owner's manual only help you set it up and then you're on your own I'm getting no sound from my TV but I was able to to hook my record player to it with RCA plugs and get sound but that's it.

A home theater receiver will not merge two audio sources to play at the same time. What you seek is more likely to be described as a mixer. We do not have any for home audio, but we do carry some Pro Audio models: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/m_390850/Audio-Mixers.html
Neither of these are 9 channel receivers. The RX-V4A is a 5 channel model. The RX-V6A is a 7 channel model. Yamaha has a design in the RX-V6A receiver where 7 channels can be set in the theater room and 2 speakers in a zone 2 (another room) area can all be connected to the receiver. Then the receiver can play all 7 speakers in the theater room, and when zone two is turned on, reduce the main room to a 5 speaker system. All without having to swap cables or reconfigure the receiver.
Thanks for the video which is very timely as my Pioneer VSX 822 K is out off date for today’s standards. I have been looking for a replacement AV receiver to drive my 5.1 speakers, Bose Acoustimass 6 series lll. Which are compatible with AV receivers rated from 10 to 150watts per channel, rated from 4 to 8 ohms The room is 8m x 6m x 3.5m high. Which would be the best option the RX V6A or the RX V4A or an alternative in the same price range? Your advice would be appreciated. Many Thanks.
All of our AV receivers will be able to power that speaker system including both the RX-V4A and RX-V4A models. The other abilities in receivers might help in narrowing down the choices to the best. What audio/video devices will be connected to the receiver? Do you plan on adding speakers to other rooms to play audio from the devices connected to the receiver? What about online streaming audio sources? Do you think you will expand your home theater system by adding more speakers to have surround and surround back? Or perhaps to make a Dolby Atmos theater system?
I am not aware of Yamaha releasing that model without the "A' at the end. Because of this, I would imagine that any site showing an RX-V6 is actually referring to the RX-V6A model as shown here
Is there a way to connect Tidal to it the same way I do with Spotify, without having to use that horrible MusicCast App? In the Spotify App, the receiver shows up as a speaker, so it's straightforward to control from within the app, but with Tidal, the receiver just doesn't show up. Do you know how to sort this out? @@crutchfield hey, thanks for replying! You said it's the best way, so is there another way? Because the music cast app is horrible and I'd love to just be able to stream directly from Tidal as I do so seamlessly with Spotify.

I would like to buy a low cost receiver that has 7.1 out that I could plug into my 23 year old Denon receiver that has 160 watts out to my BW speakers. Do these receivers have the 7.1 out? We are familiar with the RX-V6A receiver and its performance. It will work with those speakers and should even send them a little cleaner audio than the Onkyo did.
Both require an external amp to power the subwoofer. The RX-V6A has a preamp output so an external amp can be connected to power speakers through its Zone 2 ability. @@crutchfield so I picked up the RX-V4A based on your response but I can't figure out how to play a record and watch tv at the same time. I don't see anything in the manual that talks about this.
Try going into the options menu and selecting "ON" for the lip-sync function. This should sync audio and video and is helpful if you are not using the HDMI ARC connection. I hope this helps!
You can still use the sync feature with ARC. Connecting with ARC should remove the latency, but sometimes you will still need to adjust for that in the Yamaha receiver's settings.

Both of those Yamaha receivers have built-in Bluetooth to allow you to stream music from your phone or tablet. The limitation that was mentioned is that if you are using the receiver's Bluetooth transmitter mode to send audio back out from the receiver to Bluetooth headphones, the input source can't be Bluetooth from a phone.
The problem is every av receiver with 5 or more hdmi ports suffer from heat issues if you use full volume. Now i got a auna 5.1 receiver with 3 ports no problemo but the volume needs to get louder. HI Crutchfield, please help. I am interested in theRX-V4A, can it support my yamaha NS777 speakers or my yamaha NS F330 speakers? I know the RX-V6A can give support to any speaker. But the V4A its more withing my reach right now. Now a day I have my receiver NR803 yamaha for my speaker and Im very happy with this set with a great vivid sounds. but now I want to get into video receiver. I really appreciate your advice. Hope RX-V4A can afored it. Regards !!!
And I have to say, even the volume and source control knobs feel cheap - maybe they invested on what's inside and cheeped out with all the plastic face and knobs. I think Im going to spend more on the Marantz and return this reciever.
I’m afraid of buying this unit, along with any other brand right now. I’m not hearing good things about any new receivers right now. I would love to replace my 2 year old Denon AVR-S540BT with the RXV6A, more power, better streaming capability and 2 more channels. If I were to pull the trigger on any unit right now, i will use Crutchfield simply because of their great customer service.
@@tundrawhisperer4821 I posted a link below. A FW update will no longer be provided as the receiver will now be getting a free hardware update. This is a bit sad as obviously updated fw is much easier to deal with.

That's awesome to hear! Thank you so much!
Got the 6a. Love it. Have always paired Yamaha with Bose speakers, per the recommendation of several sources, and these rock! Make the outdoor Boses speakers sound good, as well.
Long live Crutchfield!!
It's great to hear that you're happy with it! 🙂
I'd like to hear your take on this HDMI 2.1 debacle. Most other youtubers agree that a software update will never fix it simply because it is a hardware issue.
The newest models don't have this issue.

When the front main Left/Right channels will be the only audio channels used with powered speakers (or external amp), the V6A model can be used:

The volume knob is not motorized
Hi Team,
I have a question .
In the previous Yamaha receivers models , they have a setting to adjust subwoofer crossover when in LFE mode.
But in this model V6A , yamaha remove subwoofer crossover and replaced it with ( center , 2 fronts and surround crossover )
Someone told me to set all the speakers to 60hz , so the subwoofer will go down to 60hz , but I doubt it
Is there anyway to adjust subwoofer crossover setting in this model ?
This is the best review and the receiver is bang on the money
Just bought the Yamaha RX-4A will it power my new ELAC3,0 speakers, for 2.1.
?
That Yamaha receiver sure can power the ELAC Debut 3.0 speakers. It cam support the ELAC's 6 ohm impedance on every amp channel
so if I want to play music from my phone using bluetoof, I can't?
You can. I have one and you just connect it and press play. It even switches on automatically and I don’t need the remote control.
If this was purchased with us, we have 7 day a week tech support, their number can be found on your invoice!! Sorry to hear you are having issues!
I recommend to everyone that no one should by Yahama.
The Denon AVRs display the audio codecs like DD, DTS, DTS HD MA, DOLBY TRUE HD, does Yamaha RX-V6A depicts this info on its display panel ?

Hi Aki, do you have the RX-V4A or RX-V6A? Are you unable to choose Bluetooth via the receiver directly or via the remote app or Musiccast app?
I have got a set of Yamaha speakers and sub 5.1 at 6 ohms and max output of 80watts would they be ok to run through this receiver?
These receivers can support 6 ohm speakers so there is a chance they can work. Which model speakers are you hoping to connect? Which model subwoofer?
Really eager to hear about the higher tier Aventage series AVR’s
I have the A2A. They are built really well. Probably the best remote control I have seen on an AVR. However, like the V4 and V6, there is HDR10 color banding on some 2020 model TVs. Namely Sony and LG TVs. Atmos is kinda broken right now as well. The center channel is playing height sounds with the height channels and it’s hard to distinguish between the overhead and center channels.
@@rpergrem - Geez these new gen AVR’s sure seem to be having lots of issues. I’m going to hold off until this mess is sorted

I have a RXV4 a Yamaha I have no subwoofer.
Hi Kevin, what model speakers are you using for your surrounds?
Nice review. Maybe a stupid question, but does the remote control works via Bluetooth or InfraRed?

How can I use a microfone on this kit. I have been struggling for a while
The Yamaha RX-V4A does not feature an XLR input for use with a microphone.
Using the Bluetooth can I also connect my PC to the receiver and play music from my PC wirelessly?
Not with Bluetooth, but your home network. The RX-V4A is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 and Windows 7/8/10 compliant for audio networking. This means it's easier for you to access and enjoy digital music stored on your PC over your home network, as long as both your PC and the Yamaha RX-V4A are connected with Wi-fi or wired ethernet cable.

Of course it will. Easily. Nothing extraordinary about the specs of the 6.2. Who says no or probably?
These guys don't mention anything either:
audioplacebo.com/elac-debut-2-0-b6-2-review/
www.soundmanual.com/elac-debut-2-0-b6-2/
HiFiChoice's review also doesn't say anything relevant to them being difficult.
No problem. Both are budget tho so don't get your hopes up too high.
Would you recommend V6A over the Denon x2700h? I'm going to pair it up with Klipsch R 24F. Thank you
That depends on what you are wanting to use it for! How many channels do you intend to run? What components are you planning on using? Do you do any gaming?
@@crutchfield mostly movies and music, hardly any gaming. Plan is for 5.1, probably Dolby atmos later on...
In that case, both would work well for your current speakers and setup and. Both do support Dolby Atmos up to 5.1.2ch.
So are you able to have a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos setup with this Receiver? Or just a 7.2.2? Dolby Atmos is supposed to have 4 Speakers on the ceiling not 2 and by what im seeing in this video it only gives you the option for a 7.2.2.
These receivers are 5.2 and 7.2 respectively. neither of them can do 7.2.2
I stream bluetooth music from my phone to the Yamaha - why did you say you cant?
We actually said you can Bluetooth audio into it. The part that cannot be done is to then take that audio and use the Bluetooth transmitter to send it out to your Bluetooth listening device. In other words, you cannot use both the built-in Bluetooth receiver and Bluetooth transmitter at the same time.
Yeah, that was a little misleading.

Is this a good receive it to build on if I want to go from a 5.2 to a 7.2
The RX-V6A model will allow you to grow a system over time up to the 7.2 final setup. Here it is:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_022RXV6ABL/item.html
Besides number of HDMI ports, watt per channel and 7.2 vs 5.2 are there any other differences to the functions or internals?
Well, there is now processing for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X as a result of having the extra amp channels in the RX-V6A. It also upgrades to a dual-room/dual-source output instead of a Zone B (must play the same source as the Zone A) that's found in the RX-V4A. The V6A also has a phono input for connecting a turntable as well as a 12V trigger output (used to turn on devices when the receiver turns on). Technically, there are different DAC's in them too which is to help process audio for the extra channels , the 6th and 7th channels, that are now available in the V6A model.
I'll wait for reviews after the firmware update
..if the firmware updates, yes there is a glitch in the updates which renders the receivers inoperable. Very unfortunate for Yamaha and it's customers because i think these RX receivers are handsdown the absolute best sound for the money.
Does this receiver utilize Yamaha's AV controller app?
No, these newer Yamaha receivers use the Yamaha MusicCast Controller App.

It cannot be fun getting a new receiver and then it has issues when trying to play the TV audio. We recommend contacting technical support for help troubleshooting the issue. If you purchased it from us, you can contact our technical support for that help. We include their toll free phone number on the order invoice
Hey bought a rx -v6 receiver. Need help with speakers . What u think
Great choice! We're happy to recommend speakers. What type of setup do you have in mind?
How do you merge audio from RCA analog and Optical?
A home theater receiver will not merge two audio sources to play at the same time. What you seek is more likely to be described as a mixer. We do not have any for home audio, but we do carry some Pro Audio models:

@@crutchfield Thanks mate
Anytime! 🙂
I'm a newbie so it's might sound dumb, if there are 9 total channels, why it can't be setup as 5.2.4? Can SP1 and SP2 play at the same time or no?
Neither of these are 9 channel receivers. The RX-V4A is a 5 channel model. The RX-V6A is a 7 channel model. Yamaha has a design in the RX-V6A receiver where 7 channels can be set in the theater room and 2 speakers in a zone 2 (another room) area can all be connected to the receiver. Then the receiver can play all 7 speakers in the theater room, and when zone two is turned on, reduce the main room to a 5 speaker system. All without having to swap cables or reconfigure the receiver.
I’m not understanding on how to get Bluetooth to work…?
Hi Jay, which receiver do you have? Are you looking to stream to it via Bluetooth? Thanks!
Best video ever, man!! Thanks a lot
💙You're welcome!
Thanks for the video which is very timely as my Pioneer VSX 822 K is out off date for today’s standards.
I have been looking for a replacement AV receiver to drive my 5.1 speakers, Bose Acoustimass 6 series lll. Which are compatible with AV receivers rated from 10 to 150watts per channel, rated from 4 to 8 ohms
The room is 8m x 6m x 3.5m high.
Or perhaps to make a Dolby Atmos theater system?
pretty happy with mine - this guy is getting things wrong with the RX-V6A. big upgrade from my old rx-v681
Good evening boss what is the difference with rx- v6a and rx-v6 both are same
I am not aware of Yamaha releasing that model without the "A' at the end. Because of this, I would imagine that any site showing an RX-V6 is actually referring to the RX-V6A model as shown here
Gracias, JR!
Anytime! 😃
Hello, It's a Compatible with Pc portable Bluetooh?, Thanks, " I die for have this new systems audio", Regards
These receivers can be paired to a PC that can transmit audio using Bluetooth!
How can I get to settings for theaters mode
Hi Jenrick, what is your exact Yamaha receiver model?
Is there a way to connect Tidal to it the same way I do with Spotify, without having to use that horrible MusicCast App?
In the Spotify App, the receiver shows up as a speaker, so it's straightforward to control from within the app, but with Tidal, the receiver just doesn't show up.
Do you know how to sort this out?
Thanks a lot!
Hi Pedro! Currently the best way to get full resolution Tidal streaming into the MusicCast system is using the MusicCast app.
If we can help with anything else, feel free to reach out any time!
@@crutchfield hey, thanks for replying! You said it's the best way, so is there another way? Because the music cast app is horrible and I'd love to just be able to stream directly from Tidal as I do so seamlessly with Spotify.
There are many other ways to play Tidal audio through this receiver. One way is to connect the device directly to one of the inputs on the receiver. What do you use to play Tidal now?
I would like to buy a low cost receiver that has 7.1 out that I could plug into my 23 year old Denon receiver that has 160 watts out to my BW speakers. Do these receivers have the 7.1 out? And would this make sense as a low cost solution to keep that old receiver as an amp only? New Tvs have inputs that the old Denon doesn't have, but these Yamahas do have.
Hi Jay, these two models do not offer multi-channel pre outs; but we do have lot of options that do. Are there any other particular features or inputs you need or would like to have?
Was wondering when you guys were gonna upload this to your youtube channel
Hello everyone,
Thanks for the great video. Unfortunately my Onkyo 717 is broken.
Now I'm looking for something new. Will the RX-V6A or TSR-700 go with my speakers? Will he be able to rock those poorly responding speakers?
Kef C 6LCR, 8 ohms, 10-150 W, 90 dB, 65 Hz - 40 kHz
Quad 21L2, 6 ohms, 40-200 W, 88 dB, 35 Hz - 28 kHz
Wharfedale WH-SR 2, 6 OHMS, 10-120 W, 88 dB, 80 Hz - 20 kHz
We are familiar with the RX-V6A receiver and its performance. It will work with those speakers and should even send them a little cleaner audio than the Onkyo did.
@@crutchfield Thanks a lot! You helped me make a decision, my friend!
You're welcome!
Is there a way to hook up external amplifier
Both require an external amp to power the subwoofer. The RX-V6A has a preamp output so an external amp can be connected to power speakers through its Zone 2 ability. If you were hoping for preamp outputs for any of the main speakers, these will not work and we recommend contacting an advisor to get a personal recommendation on a new receiver. Here's how to reach us for this help:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/support/ContactUs.aspx
Where do these slot in the Yamaha lineup? Are they in between the RX-Vxxx series and the Aventage series?
These are in the RX-V lineup
Will it support Bose 901 Series VI speakers?
How can i connect my microphone on this unit..?
The only microphone that can be connected is the room calibration microphone and it plugs into the YPAO port on the front
Do these receivers allow you to watch TV with no sound while playing a record on your record player?
They sure can! Yamaha calls this Background Audio/Video. Also, both units have a phono input as well
@@crutchfield so I picked up the RX-V4A based on your response but I can't figure out how to play a record and watch tv at the same time. I don't see anything in the manual that talks about this.
How do I setup the latency, I can see the delay from the talking
Try going into the options menu and selecting "ON" for the lip-sync function. This should sync audio and video and is helpful if you are not using the HDMI ARC connection. I hope this helps!
But I am using the ARC cable, also I don’t see a setting to turn arc on.
You can still use the sync feature with ARC. Connecting with ARC should remove the latency, but sometimes you will still need to adjust for that in the Yamaha receiver's settings.
Can I play music on my phone via Bluetooth to the system?
You sure can use the Bluetooth built into either model to play music from a phone!
I wish the sound wouldn't fail to turn on when streaming through my TV using ARC. Also, I have a LG CX, how do I tell if ARC vs eARC is being used? It only ever says ARC is being used. I hooked ps5 up to the receiver and saw that it downgraded the picture quality (compared to using ARC from tv), will this be fixed in a future patch (I assume when we get the HDMI 2.1 enabling patch).
...i wouldnt use arc for sound, choose another audio output from TV and connect it to an available input on receiver....should sound noticebly better.
@@kengrieve5374 how do you go about not using ARC? I thought, for my TV set up, I only had the one choice to get sound from my TV to my stereo, but there’s another way??
@@tundrawhisperer4821 ..use the optical output from tv ( usually near the headphone output) and patch it to the optical input found on the back of your sound device.
@@kengrieve5374 Would you know, if I was to set it up this way, would my receiver default to this input when my Roku box is activated? Thx
Unfortunately, I bought the v4a and it sounds pretty weak. Very little to no base and the sound isn’t full like what I get out of my 15 year old denon avr590. Clarity on the Yamaha is amazing but the sound is missing something. Wondering if the units a dud. Anyone have any experience with it?
Hi Matthew, sorry to hear your RX-V4A isn't working out better. How many speakers are you using? What are the speaker models or specs?
I know Yamaha has its own eco system, make the instruments, to consumer speakers. have you figured it out? their mission is clarity and true to the source.
Will it run 4ohm speakers?
No. Minimum impedance is 6 ohms.
I want to get rid of my current Marantz receiver, I think I way over bought and it’s way to technical for me. Looking for a simpler receiver. Could you help me out to see if the V6 Yamaha model is compatible with my speaker set up. I’d like to give you guys my business! Thx
We will be happy to check! What are the brand and models of your speakers?
@@crutchfield Thank you for helping me with this. My current 5.1 speaker set up is: front left, right and center channels are all Definitive Technology RLS ll. Then my two rear speakers are: Definitive Technology UIW RSS ll. And last, my subwoofer is a Velodyne DLS-3750R. I’m currently running these with a Marantz SR5010 receiver. I feel that I over bought maybe. I feel I never use a lot of the tuning features and I’m just looking for a good, easy to use, receiver that can play both music and movies. I steam Spotify all the time. I play a lot of movie through my Roku player as well. Would the Yamaha RX-V6 be a better fit for me? Thank you
That Yamaha will still have a lot of extra abilities that based on your post, you will not be using but it can be used with your speakers! The Yamaha also can stream Spotify and has HDMI ports that work with Roku streamers.
@@crutchfield The Roku can be plugged directly into my receiver?? Didn’t realize that! If I connect the Roku player into my receiver, would I still keep the HDMI that’s plugged into my receiver and out to the ARC connection on the TV still intact? Thx
Yes! That will work
Will this work good with a record player
The RX-V6A model has a phono input allowing it to work with any turntable:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_022RXV6ABL/item.html
I just bought one of these and it doesn’t turn on.. the light blinks red no matter what I do.. any thoughts ?? It’s brand new out of the box and hasn’t worked at all -
Take it back and get another one
@@alex1up599 That's what I ended up doing - with the state of things I ended up getting a higher end Sony, which works great! Thanks!
Can the v4a connect to a turn table
The Yamaha RX-V4A does not have a dedicated phono input so you'll need a separate pre-amp. What model turntable do you want to connect?
Is Yamaha RX-V4A a powered amplifier to operate UM12-22 12" Ultimax DVC Subwoofer 2 ohm Per Coil? Thank you
No.
This receiver is not built to power a subwoofer. A separate amp is needed to power a passive subwoofer.
did you say that you can't Bluetooth music from your smartphone?
Both of those Yamaha receivers have built-in Bluetooth to allow you to stream music from your phone or tablet. The limitation that was mentioned is that if you are using the receiver's Bluetooth transmitter mode to send audio back out from the receiver to Bluetooth headphones, the input source can't be Bluetooth from a phone.
@@crutchfield thanks for clarifying, much appreciated 😊
The problem is every av receiver with 5 or more hdmi ports suffer from heat issues if you use full volume. Now i got a auna 5.1 receiver with 3 ports no problemo but the volume needs to get louder. So if the brands would create a av receiver with 3 hdmi ports with excellent volume power it would be great
We will pass along your feedback! Have you considered going to separates, preamp and power amp/amps? That can help get sustainably louder volume levels without heat being an issue
And how can I do a system reset on the receiver
There is not a set procedure in the manual for resetting the unit to factory default. I recommend contacting technical support to check if there is a method and if not, getting help making sure the setup is correct. If you purchased it from us, you can contact our technical support for this help. We send their toll free phone number on the order invoice. If it was purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, we recommend contacting Yamaha's support
I miss one thing in this review and that is the sound quality.
So you can’t Bluetooth music from your phone to the receiver?
You can. I have the V4 and it works with just my phone. No remote needed.
@@flamemaster4594 can you use your phone with the V6 too? Thx
Regards !!!
The Yamaha RX-V4A receiver can support your speakers! It can power 6 ohm speakers on all it amp channels
Great informative videos! Thank you!
Can I connect a microphone in this device?
There is no dedicated mic input other than the YPAO calibration microphone. How are you hoping to use one?
And I have to say, even the volume and source control knobs feel cheap - maybe they invested on what's inside and cheeped out with all the plastic face and knobs. I think Im going to spend more on the Marantz and return this reciever.
I’m afraid of buying this unit, along with any other brand right now. I’m not hearing good things about any new receivers right now. I would love to replace my 2 year old Denon AVR-S540BT with the RXV6A, more power, better streaming capability and 2 more channels. If I were to pull the trigger on any unit right now, i will use Crutchfield simply because of their great customer service.
I own the A2A and its great. Aside from the needed FW update for 4K 120hz and VRR support.
@@Netgazum have they provided the new FW update now? Thinking about getting the 6 model.
@@tundrawhisperer4821 I posted a link below. A FW update will no longer be provided as the receiver will now be getting a free hardware update. This is a bit sad as obviously updated fw is much easier to deal with.
@@Netgazum oh, so new units will have the update already built into them? Thx
