Legalize workers and pay them based on the value of their work. Legalization of immigrant workers is long overdue. But if they become legal then they will have labor rights. Let's see if consumers and business owners really appreciate their workers ??
I absolutely agree with Desantis’ Bill and I am a democrat. This is about Migrant Worker Exploitation. BUT we need to give these “undocumented workers” papers and rights. Undocumented, they can’t complain against low pay, bad working conditions, no healthcare. The COMPANIES should be penalized because they are exploiting human beings who only want a better life. They save millions by not paying migrant workers fairly or for their health insurance. An illegal worker can never sue or unionize
The only problem is DeSanta does not care about migrant worker exploitation so the bill is going to blow up in his face. If he wanted to help workers he would have passed a bill to help workers become legal.
Doubtful that DeSantis is doing this because he’s concerned about the well being of undocumented people. He’s being a bigoted authoritarian against a vulnerable population to feed red meat to the base.
Now the construction industry is gonna have a real struggle and will have to stand up to the plate and raise wages for legal workers. Very few Americans want to work in the jobs that immigrants usually work in, especially in the construction field. I worked as an apprentice electrician for nearly a year in commercial construction and most of the crew was either venezuelans or mexicans. Construction is not pretty, it's dirty, the environment is loud and depressing to look at, and I mean during the first stages of it's development. The pay is not good in Florida, I know in some other states the trades pay really good and have strong unions but that's not the case in Florida. They are going to have a really hard sell trying to convince young people why they should opt into becoming an electrician instead of getting into tech, which is what I'm trying to do right now getting into college.
Maybe it need to be a struggle with construction in the part of Fl. I live in. They aren't building anything but houses. Everywhere grass is. There are no new development of jobs which I like to see.
Americans filled these jobs until cheap illegal labor came. They refused to compete with the cheap wages and left the field. Illegal cheap labor forced many Americans out of the construction field.

If we have to pay higher prices for more expensive labor, so be it. We've already been paying higher prices on everything while the illegals are working cheap. The home contractors and farm owners are not passing on the labor savings to the consumer.

If stores see people buying at their price then why would they sell it cheaper? The farm owners have no control over prices

If stores don't want to pay for higher price for the low volume coming out then they'll most likely import produce from Mexico. Floridians are cheap, they'll go for the lower price of food if quality is the same. Florida might just lose all its farmers in a few years competing with imports. If I was a store I'd be importing a lot right now to keep a secure supply for later on

Honestly the house developers pay really well the problem is that the work trades are not willing to increase labor per hour they pay by the day or square footage, I recently got promoted to be a field manager and I see what the other side looks like and they can afford to pay workers more
They dont want to pay per hour period. The same with farmers, those jobs need to be paid by results. Even in México nobody pays construction workers per hour, they get paid per project like "Miguel does the concrete, he and his crew gets 1000 dollars and when they are done they move to another house to earn another 1000 dollars. Miguel is in charge of paying his crew." Same with farming, here the land owner rents a truck lets say it holds 4 tons of produce, he hires Jose to pick it up, he shows up with his crew and organize to fill the truck everyday for a week and get paid by those results. Jose then pays everyone in his crew according to their work.

There are hundreds of openings in Florida. By DeSantis being from illegal parents and grandparents, he should bring illegal immigrants from Italy to work the farms and the constructions or is it there is no back bone in the illegal Italians.
If the problem is that these people do not have papers... then facilitate papers for them. I don't mean make them citizens... give them working permits for a few years.. say 5. In the meantime, they are required to learn English, take civic/citizenship classes.. and at the end of those 5 years they can apply for Residency (green card). So what’s wrong with that if we need to hire workers who came In legally and have proper work documentation. In this way employers cannot take advantage of these people this is the right thing to do
Because people that come here with proper documents will never get a job on this field. Why? lol, just dumb if you do. Go and see how many american go running to work on this job.

This is good though. This creates a very interesting opportunity for these places to hire citizen workers, if they can’t afford legal workers for a proper rate then you don’t have enough money. Illegal workers are a major issue for local economy because too many people are cheap and want cheap labour. Like I said, if you can’t hire locals for the job, your company shouldn’t be allowed to be in business. There should be no illegal workers in any country. They’re the main subjects and victims of unfair treatment and exploitation. I don’t care if they need to support their families somewhere else, this system of exploitation needs to stop and all the shady businesses needs to be fined and shut down. Anyone who disagrees with this are enablers of issues, crime and illegal activities.
The thing is, the Republicans and their voters will blame every unemployed MINORITY person for not taking these jobs for less than a decent livable wage. While teaching their children to never sink low enough to work these jobs.
What's going to happen is employing undocumented immigrants will have to their wages. One of the things people complain about in Florida is how the cost of living goes up but wages stay stagnate. In 2020 to 2022 Florida has had almost 500,000 transplants. We do not have a labor problem. Forcing legality will increase wages, lower the tax burden, increase available housing which will lower housing costs, and lower fentanyl overdoses.
Think how mean and cruel it is to make working illegally a felony. That's the republican party today; mean and sadistic. They get off on punishing the weak.
The people who are complaining have companies and businesses where they are not looking to hire legal Americans because they have to provide a living wage, good health care, and retirement. Along with holidays off with pay, vacation time with pay, and PTO days. Illegals who don’t know the law will work for $6.25 without taking any days off.

I never thought of it like that. Thanks
The only problem is DeSanta does not care about migrant worker exploitation so the bill is going to blow up in his face. If he wanted to help workers he would have passed a bill to help workers become legal.
Republicans don’t care about any of that stuff you mention

Miguel is in charge of paying his crew."
Same with farming, here the land owner rents a truck lets say it holds 4 tons of produce, he hires Jose to pick it up, he shows up with his crew and organize to fill the truck everyday for a week and get paid by those results. Jose then pays everyone in his crew according to their work.
