thanks for the info derrick! one of the more helpful vids i've seen on fishing mackerel. i also live in socal so seeing a specific vid helps much. i also appreciate the tip on saving fishing line cause i'm also trying to save money and plastic cause i'm not about to eat plastic in my fish fr
No problem! I might do a video in the future with updated information as I learned much more than what I knew 2 years ago. Good luck out there hope you catch a lot!
Can you make a video of you actually setting up the line with all the knots 😭 I’m very new to fishing and would like to learn more 😂 love the video though!!
@5:20 i put mine in a plastic bag with a piece of construction paper folded in half. Sabiki rig sits in between the construction paper and sits flat in the tackle box.
Good idea!
Cant wait for more videos bruv
Thank you bro, cant wait to go fishing again!
Newport is my go to pier
Newport is a great pier! I see bonito and mackerel go crazy down there
Thank you
No problem! Good luck!
@4:27 yes... found that out today.
First time I touched mackerel I had to scrub my hands clean for a minute. If you are gonna touch mackerel I normally go for the head because the body is where all the slime is
When you reel and pump, do you let your weights touch the bottom? Thanks!
Depends where the fish are in the water column but generally I do let it hit the bottom sometimes
Thank you!
Lol fishing and stocks. I got a couple of amc and lost alot on gme hahaha nice vid by the way👍👍👍
Yep thank you!
Is it better to drop the rig near the pier (structure) or cast as far from the pier as you can?
Depends on the day, but most likely there is always mackerel nearby the pier. If you bring some bait or ask people or some you will most likely catch something. The day you go look around for other people and see what works.
Hey can you make a video of using a bobber on a sabiki rig
The splasher rig for bonito? Where there is the clear bobber with one feather? Or attaching a bobber to a normal 6 hook sabiki
@@DerrickVan the sabiki rig with a bobber please
Not really familiar with the rig but I saw other people use it, attach the bobber where the swivel is. Or put it about 3 feet above the swivel depending on the bite
Let goooo!
Let's goo!!! Thanks for the support
Do you find one Sabiki hook size to be better than another?
Yea I feel like size 4 hooks are the best for big and small mackerel but if the mackerel are small or you keep getting shortbit use size 6, as long as you have either one you should be good to go, both work
@@DerrickVan appreciate that info. I was out at embarcado pier today and caught two mackerel, each about 11 inches. I hadn’t seen one that size up close. The slime was shocking! 🤣
@@SOUNDINTHECITY sounds like you had a fun day! They have so much slime to the point where if you hold them up they will start dripping slime
Thanks bro great information . Hope your killing it .
Thank you!
Lol. Did you sell? I hope I see you fishing one day here in socal.
Yeah. Hope to fish with you some time!
Like shelter island?
Yea mackerel techniques work on all socal piers
Fu
why buy sponges lol. You can just hook rig in a piece of paper then stuff in it a ziplocbag
They aren't that expensive at the dollar store 3 for a buck, I just like sponges you don't have to copy me :) what works, work
Yup :) thanks for teaching them how to catch macks :) im going to oceanside pier tmro because j heard the macks are back.
I also noticed that the sabiki rigs without the feathers are just as effective as the ones with the feathers
@@redundantfeet4696 good luck! Up here the mackerel fishing has been very finicky, been out a bunch and the whole pier is dead, hopefully down south in oceanside it is better cause the santa monica bay stinks.
Mackerel are definitely here though!
@@DerrickVan lol my main pier is oceanside but its a 6-7 hr drive because i live in fresno...
I go there often too
I like hermosa beach pier the best. I always go there and if not I go Newport
Thank you
No problem! Go out and catch some fish
