Lead singer Dee Snider was a huge fan of the movie "Animal House." The father in this video plays a college ROTC sergeant in that movie, who bullies a Delta House pledge, and says to him " A pledge pin, on your uniform?" which is in the song. The same Frat house pledge gets asked by the Dean, "What do you want to do with your life?" Which also begins the video. If you've seen this movie already, I apologize. if not, I highly recommend it.
Indeed. Mark Metcalf played Col. Niedermeyer in Animal House. One of the all time great comedies. All star cast including the late, great John Belushi.
This was a huge hit for them and MTV and made them stars. For another banger from them do You Can't Stop Rock and Roll. Good party rock for sure, Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶🔥
Twisted Sisters had 2 huge mega hits in 1984 this one and I Wanna Rock and the reason they became so popular was due to their music videos! When growing up here in Sweden i hadn't access to MTV but there was this show on Sunday evenings that showed the latest videos. After everyone had seem this and the one for I Wanna Rock it was the thing everyone in school was talking about!! When you're like 10 years old and see rebellion against authorities it was the coolest thing ever to watch 😂
Love your reaction videos Angela. Fun fact: Dee Snider used inspiration from the classic Catholic song " O Come All Ye Faithful " as the rhythm to this classic Metal song.
I absolutely love that you’re doing a month of my fav music of all time 80’s rock!!! Still listen to it today! You rock lady!! This is so cool! Best decade of rock ever! And it was an absolute blast growing up during this time!!
You're by far the most intelligent and accurate music reviewer on the internet. It's always a true pleasure watching your reactions. As for this song - it's not my favourite musical genre, but I immediately fell for this song when it was released 40 years ago. Keep up the good work!
Funny , funny video !! yes I do remember my high school years in LA all kids were possessed by this tune and also Quiet Riot " Come On Feel The Noise " same a kid in the room .
Day One, this is still my favorite song of all time. I grew up with this song and video, and it was one of the 80s teenage anthems. It is a completely motivational song and one of the classic epic music videos during the 80s. Thanks for reacting to this anthemic banger from TS!
Pretty much what rock music was all about. You should check out, Be chrool to your scuel, a team up of twisted sister and Alice Cooper, it's a rebel rocker
Great reaction! Dee Snyder was a huge Activist for Music Rights and not to allow parental control with songs airing on MTV and on the Radio Airwaves. He went all the way to Washington CD to senate committee meetings.
The best thing about the 80s were the film clips. What happened? They used to be so entertaining, and quite simply without this film clip back in the day i don't think this song would have been as big, despite its catchy chorus. I must say though that i always loved that Twisted Sister didn't take themselves too seriously.
I got dragged to a Twisted Sister concert in Davenport, IA of all places. A band called "The Momma's Boys," opened for them and they were both actually really good. It was a fun show.
Question. Interested in checking out some present day hair bands? Because they do exist, and are successful, arguably nowhere as much so as in my native Sweden, where it never went away, even in the 90s. (Sure, we listened to Nirvana like everyone else, but we didn't throw out the baby with the bathwater!) I'm not talking the likes of your countrymen Steel Panther - yes, we love them too, but we don't need humor as an excuse to indulge in hair metal: we love it and listen to it quite unironically. Present day killer acts include H.e.a.t., Eclipse, Crazy Lixx, Crashdïet, Treat (veterans, but still going strong) and THE sensation of recent, Nestor. All Swedish, actually. Naming individual songs to check out? OK, I'd go with H.e.a.t's "Living on the run", Eclipse's "Viva la victoria", Crashdïet's "Generation wild", Crazy Lixx' "Anthem for America" and most defiinitely Nestor's already seminal "1989" to get you started.
A reporter once mistakenly called Twisted Sister a glam rock band. Dee Snider's response was something along the lines of, "Glam means glamorous. We're not glamorous, we're hideous. We're hid rock!!" Dee was one of the artists who stood up to Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource Center in the 80's, concerning their desire to put warning labels on "dangerous" music. Dee showed up in a sleeveless denim jackes, jeans, boots and a black t-shirt. Looked like a total dirtbag. He then proceeded to absolutely humiliate Tipper and the rest of the group, in Congressional testimony. Dee is a literal badass.
I recommend Spiderman by The Cure! Check it out Angela and whoever else! It's creepy, neferious and enigmatic! All you Gen Zers and Gen Alpha's, don't rebel too much because your caregivers are just trying to look out for you so you can have a happy and successful future! Until Monday I suppose!
This song always seemed disrespectful to me. I never felt my parents were trying to control my life. My mother and fathers seemed to understand that would only make more rebellious. However, if they left me alone, I might still screw up, but at least they could hold me accountable.
This was definitely an anthem of rebellion in the MTV 1980s.
I remember the day I first heard this on the radio. I knew this was one a good. The heavy rotation on MTV put it on legendary status…….great song!
The Price by Twisted Sister is an incredibly awesome song!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Yesssss
A classic! Simply classic. A teenage anthem! :)

You looked like you were having a lot of fun with this music video & song. It's still a great message today.
To say this was in heavy rotation on MTV in '84 is an understatement 😎🎤🎸
Keep on keeping on little sister!!! METAL TO THE PEDAL. We headbangers here in northern California, enjoyed your reaction!
YES!!! One of the classic best. Song & video.
When this song came out in late 83 or early 84, Reagan's, Bush's, and Immoral Majority Leader, Jerry Farwell's heads all Imploded
This was a huge hit for them and MTV and made them stars. For another banger from them do You Can't Stop Rock and Roll. Good party rock for sure, Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶🔥

This is the perfect song for when you're leaving work and want to feel like you are taking your life back.

The dad in the video is played by the same actor who played one of the "Villians" in Animal House. He also appeared in other Twisted Sister videos.
DayOne, that was one of our Gen X Rebellion Songs 😎🤘
Funny , funny video !! yes I do remember my high school years in LA all kids were possessed by this tune and also Quiet Riot " Come On Feel The Noise " same a kid in the room .
If you've seen the film, "Animal House".....you know the connection. If you haven't, watch it and you'll know.
In ninth grade when this came out. Many memories and crazy fun times.
I always loved singing along to this song, at the tops of my lungs.
This came out when i was in high school and instantly became an anthem
This song along with Beastie Boys "You gotta Fight For Your Right to Party" pretty much summed it up for us 80's kids.

It's a bit early but have a listen to Twisted Sister do Oh Come All Ye Faithful. It's pretty awesome!
When this came out, I was the mother of a teenage girl. I loved this song and bought the album. I liked it better than my daughter did. 😂
Classic MTV video. The person playing the father was basically reprising his character from the famous National Lampoon's Animal House movie.
Can see why this was popular at the time!
Pretty much what rock music was all about. You should check out, Be chrool to your scuel, a team up of twisted sister and Alice Cooper, it's a rebel rocker
Now THIS is a hair band!
I’ve heard this song sooo many times but never saw this video😂
Great reaction! Dee Snyder was a huge Activist for Music Rights and not to allow parental control with songs airing on MTV and on the Radio Airwaves. He went all the way to Washington CD to senate committee meetings.
Dee Snyder, Ozzie Osborne, and John Denver
@@alanfriesen9837 And Frank Zappa.
@@rmar67 Oh yes, how could I forget?
Neidermeyer lives! (Pretty much the same speech he gave in the movie Animal House)
The theme of this video Dee Schider got from watchimg the Road Runner cartoons
This is one of those songs that stopmps on the accelerator and never lets up

I also saw mamas boys. They opened for ratt on the invasion of your privacy tour in 1985. Can t remember them much though
I get the feeling, we have, in fact, continued to take it.
Dee Snider is such a great guy he helped donate and get bands together to raise money for the club station fire in Warwick Rhode Island
Nice! Please listen to *Little Fighter* by *White Lion* 🤘🏼
This is such a violent video, I miss the 80’s
Rock Anthem when we were growing up. It is about independence marching to your own song.
Beautiful Angela. Great song.
All their songs are amazing. Pick a song and enjoy.
To therockdude99 point this is an Anthem
Alright, another ROCK N' ROLL band from the 1980s!
One of the Gen X anthems. I would say that almost EVERY Gen Xer knows the hook.
C'mon feel the noize by Quiet Riot was the first heavy metal band with #1 album
1983 > Metal Health
Harris can use it for a campaign song
Stone cold classic.

THE teenage male angst song of that generation!
Ballad of Jane .....LA Guns
🤘🏼😛🤘🏼
Neidermeyer.......aaaaaah.....
After this song came out they were bigger than Lady gaga
screams 80's cheese.
🤘🤘
Ward Cleaver (Hugh Beaumont) passed away in 1982...perhaps in 1984, with this song's release, he was not resting peacefully.
This song always seemed disrespectful to me. I never felt my parents were trying to control my life. My mother and fathers seemed to understand that would only make more rebellious. However, if they left me alone, I might still screw up, but at least they could hold me accountable.
This is a cover of a song from the Who's rock opera "Tommy".
