I know this is an old video. What an awesome and cool hike. One time back in the 90s I happened to be on the nearby Interstate and decided to take the exit for Mohonk so I could check it out, but at the main gate they wouldn't let me on the grounds because I wasn't staying there.
Mohonk, I went there several times and it's a beautiful place for sure. But they are kept on raising the parking fee per person and that's a big downside!

It's near New Paltz, New York - not quite far upstate but not right over the border with Jersey either. We drove up from central NJ and we got a hotel and did 2 hikes in the area.

One of my favourite hikes when I lived in NYC. Did the lemon squeeze about 5 times, it gets easier after the first time !

I’d read that book ages ago and wasn’t aware it was mentioned, that’s neat. I just added that as note on our hike guide.
