  • Here we go again with another project. This time I get out the woodworking tools and make some dust while building the ultimate DIY-friendly front cargo box for my Polaris Sportsman. Check out how easy it can be to build a good looking cargo box for next to nothing in material cost. Be sure to pay special attention to the little details that I consider when building the perfect size cargo box. If this cargo box looks to be the perfect size for you, write down the exact dimensions I provide in the video near the end. Happy hammering.

still plenty of room left over for the cold snacks. I need to build me one of these for my '08 sportsman 500. same type of lid. i need to be able to fit my milwaukee leaf blower (battery power). extra batteries and ice melt jugs for my snow removal side hustle.

Very nice build. I am figuring out something for my 2016 sportsman . It has the removable front rack with the lock and ride mounts. Miss my old honda with the tube steel rack.

Nice work! I have a 2008 with the same rails and such. I've searched time and again for someone that may have purchased some sort of system that works as a quick connect/disconnect. Never found anything. You would think Polaris had something in mind when they designed that!

Yeah I agree. Seems like an obvious thing for Polaris to offer

Thanks for the video, looking to make one like this myself. Are you happy with the size? Any changes you would make now that you are using it? Thanks!

Hi Sam. Glad you found the video helpful. Overall I’m quite happy with the size. It’s performed very well and I’ve. It encountered any times when I wished it was different. Happy building

Doesn't the height of the box restrict the full movement of handlebars?

They are still able to turn to full lock each way

I built one for the back of my wheeler but made it to beefy, which means heavy. Too heavy. Use a milk crate and a couple bungies. Yours looks way better. Jealous of your miter saw. Mine doesn't have a light or sliding.

Yeah a milk crate is a good alternative. That freaky mitre saw sure has been put to work and it keeps on swinging
