Wes ! Thank you ! I live in the Andes of Peru . I can’t find any boxes here for my quad , this one you have made is beautiful and exactly what i need ! Time to start cutting and glueing! Muchos Gracious !
Very nice looks amazing You can also use a lock on the outside latches so you don't need the center one, just saying might be more comfortable for a passenger
Made on also from baltic birch. Took mine one step further and made a backrest with foam rubber/arctic vinyl. Really enjoy making my own stuff which is much better than anything you could buy. Making it custom to fit your needs. Well done.
I thought you were confused and were building a fine cabinet instead. Wonderful craftsmanship. I can tell by the cabinets in your shop that you do excellent work. Thanks.
Very nice & functional project. Some may say over kill, cheaper to buy one but as a now 35 year self employed retired trim carpenter I appreciate your craftsmanship & clean shop. Sometimes the joy & satisfaction of building your own projects out weigh the thoughts of buying them. Could you tell us what brand bed liner you used. The finish looks nice & I like the recessed area on the rear. Very nice job well done. Thanks for sharing.
ive been looking for a box that fits what i want but no one makes one. your box but 6-7" tall is exactly what i want. might be time to start my own. awesome video Wes!
I have to say, I was originally not going to watch this, but WOW!!! You are the dad that would have the little boy in the boy scouts with the derby car racer and you'd make it at home. Congrats, sir, and my subscription to your channel is due to your knowledge, your diligence, your camera and editing work, and your keeping it flowing... EXCELLENT JOB... AND --- I AM JEALOUS OF YOUR GARAGE AND YOUR TOOLS ON HAND! ;-)
Thanks man! If it wasn’t for RUclips I wouldn’t have the shop and all the tools. When I started woodworking I didn’t have any tools. I was borrowing my friends tools. And I didn’t have a shop.
Just curious how it's held up? Are the seams cracking/splitting? I want to make a small front cooler, but was afraid after while (year or so) it would just start falling apart.
I have watched this video several times. I have not found an ATV rear storage box I like. I really like your design. I have just started my channel and have mentioned your design in my first video. It was not scripted or edited so I didn't mention you or your channel. I'm working on editing all of that now. I will repost an edited version of the first video and make sure to send any of my subscribers to your channel. Let me know if there is anything you would have done differently. Thanks again!
Hallo. I was happy to see your explanatory video. I did not understand what kind of paint you used. I would love to receive details on the subject. Regards Elad
@Wes Hamstra Great build, any updates 3yrs after on how it held up? I'm looking to build one and wonder what the best glue would be to use to stand up to the vibration it will see. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! It is holding up well. I have been on ton of trips with it. Holding up perfectly. I have not tipped it over or rolled it yet. I am half expecting it to fall apart if that were to happen.
Wes, congrats ... No doubt the best diy 4wheeler box I've seen done on RUclips ... well done sir ... your craftsmanship is impressive. I'm with Mark King below, interested in knowing how it has held up after use ... anything you would do differently now?
Thanks! It’s been over a year since I’ve made it and it’s held up well. I am going to be switching out the latches for something different. The ones I used rattle a lot. I am sure if i were to flip the quad it would be all splinters
Hi.Very nice project. You are equipped with very good tools. I like talented people. I have a question for you: What brand of spray paint (black) did you use? I would like a picture with this paint. Thank you..
Everyone sucked at it at first. Start with simple projects and gradually start challenging yourself. It’s ok to make mistakes, that is what makes you better.
@@WesHamstra Yes exactly. I always have some video running on my TV and when my Teufel ultima is plugged in echoes sound really bad. Matthias Wandel made really good sound dampening just with some drop cloths.

Sprayed Bed liner. Genius
That project turned out utterly amazing! Very well done!

Yep, plain, simple, lightweight, durable, spacious and effective. This is too much to ask from the industry.

Very nice box, I really liked the way you mounted the license plate, large enough for your helmet and gas tank - very nice design

Great job, you are a true craftsman Wes!!
chris simon thanks. I try to do my best

thanks, for watching
very nice job!!!! Impressive!!!
Awesome stuff! what is that paint you are using?
Wow Wes that is too cool & very useful. Always great work man.
Joe Brown thanks! It turned out way better then I expected it too.
What spray liner did you use? What brand it looks nice
Just curious how it's held up? Are the seams cracking/splitting? I want to make a small front cooler, but was afraid after while (year or so) it would just start falling apart.
How about a 1 year review? Likes/dislikes, what you would change, etc. Nice build, hoping to do that same thing to my quad, thanks for the inspiration
that's a great idea! I have made some minor changes to it.
@@WesHamstra I'd love to see them! I'm sure others would too. Thanks again for the great content, and I'm looking forward to the new vids
Awesome job! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks!
Nice, turned out great
Southern Ginger Workshop thanks! I saw on instagram that you have a new side by side. What kind is it. Looks awesome
@@WesHamstra thanks dude! Yup it's a Polaris xp1000 2017. I sold my 4wheeler and bought that :)
Southern Ginger Workshop nice! Someday id like to upgrade to that.
@@WesHamstra thanks buddy :) I'll probably have some videos soon
Southern Ginger Workshop I will keep an eye for them
Great storage...I'm doing this!!
Do it! It’s a fun project
@@WesHamstra sure will...great video
@@WesHamstra did you prime the wood before using the bed liner?
Jeff Gallant no I didn’t not sure if I was supposed to. It’s holding up well. It survived two solid days of riding the Hatfield McCoy trails
Great work Wes! That looks awesome :) Thanks for sharing the video with us.👌👍😎JP
Thanks! It turned out exactly the way I was hoping it too
Your very welcome Wes! yeah it's always a good day when everything works out :) Have a great week!😎

I want one! Nice work! Now how much does it weigh?
That finish looks great better than my 4 wheeler 😂
Hallo.
I was happy to see your explanatory video. I did not understand what kind of paint you used. I would love to receive details on the subject. Regards Elad
It wasn’t paint. It was a spray on bed liner
@Wes Hamstra Great build, any updates 3yrs after on how it held up? I'm looking to build one and wonder what the best glue would be to use to stand up to the vibration it will see. Thanks for sharing!

What liner need did you use? What minimum size air compressor is acceptable to use?

Hello. You can tell more about the material (aerosol) that was applied on top.
aerosol was a failed attempt at a rattle can spray on Bed liner. I went and got a the real McCoy Bed liner spray and it worked amazing!
Thanks!

Great build wes,may have been a better design to of had the lid over lapping the sides instead of resting on top?
it does overlap. its kind of hard to see in the video.
@@WesHamstra hi wes thanks for replyso sorry i didnt notice, please dont think i was being rude by saying, loving the vids
mike nicholas no worries, I didn’t think that at all
Awesome
I would love to have some help with a template for a piece of plywood...I am brand new to these types of projects!
That's pretty sweet too bad i sucks at woodworking
Everyone sucked at it at first. Start with simple projects and gradually start challenging yourself. It’s ok to make mistakes, that is what makes you better.
How much did the box weigh?
Brad Vandyke ml jk. Never weighed it... but my guess is 40lbs
You really need to get some way of noise dampening in your shop. It's super annoying🤪 Otherwise... Its a really nice box!
lethal.network how so? Are you talking about the echo?
@@WesHamstra Yes exactly. I always have some video running on my TV and when my Teufel ultima is plugged in echoes sound really bad. Matthias Wandel made really good sound dampening just with some drop cloths.
lethal.network I never thought the echo was that bad. I have been thinking about doing some sound deadening
It probably been cheaper to just go buy one 👍😜👍
