    Thanks sooo much! Your video was awesome! I'm a single mother who doesn't have extra money and your video showed me exactly how to replace the control module, down to needing a 9/32 socket. I bought the part on ebay for $64 and it took me 20 minutes from start to finish. Thanks again!

    Ordered my part from Amazon on Saturday, received it this morning. Just finished it took about twenty minutes works great. Now my granddaughter won't be cold this winter. Of course today it was 72 degrees. I have a 2004 Tahoe thanks.

    Great video. I've been driving around for at least 3 years with no heat in the back of my truck. This winter the kids have been complaining more than normal, so I figured it was time to fix it. Swapped out the module, and at first, I still couldn't get any warm air in the back. I tried pulling the fuse several times, and nothing would work. After another Google search, I found a thread somewhere that mentions pulling the 60 amp VSES/ECAS fuse under the hood. That should be for the stability control, so I couldn't imagine it would work. IT DID!!! Now I have hot air, and the kids are happy. Thanks!

    • @precisionmachineshed
      @precisionmachineshed  9 лет назад

      Glad to hear that you finally got it working. The reason I fixed mine was because we had a new born and couldn't drive around without heat! Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

    • @bryceleonhardt8440
      @bryceleonhardt8440 9 лет назад

      Spitfire thank you for the informative and $$ saving post, I followed your instructions to spec, after buttoning all the trim/panels back together I still am getting cold air! I have pulled the fuse turned the truck to ON for 1min interval shut truck off replaced fuse at least 5x with the truck at normal operating temperature. Blowing plenty hot in the cockpit but 2nd and 3rd row remain cold. I attempted to pull the VSES 60amp fuse that Mike refers to above. In my attempt it would not come loose and ended up crushing some of the plastic around the fuse with the pliers.
      Mike did your VSES fuse come out with ease? I don't want to cause myself more headache. I'm in NY and we are expecting 30+inches of snow in the next 24hrs, rear heat would certainly be a blessing...
      SOS!!

    • @precisionmachineshed

      Bryce Leonhardt I am not sure, I guess my best advice at this point is would be to pull the fuse again..... turn on truck for at least 30 seconds but not too much longer, turn switch off, replace fuse and try it. I am not sure if going longer than 40-50+ seconds will null the reset or not.

    • @bryceleonhardt8440
      @bryceleonhardt8440 9 лет назад +1

      spitfire1821 I will attempt the 30sec increment hopefully that makes the difference. If not I will probably be investing in a new 60 amp fuse as a plan b. I did read on Amazon for some the fuse pulling didn't work and disconnecting the battery was necessary in order to reset any codes. I will keep everyone posted, perhaps my learning experience can help another poor soul as your contribution has.

  • @eddiewaters5445

    It could also be a bad blend door actuator that will cause no heat in the rear as well

  • @pickle9977
    @pickle9977 7 лет назад +1

    The rear fuse is the RR HVAC. its actually the 30 amp fuse. At least on my Cadillac escalade. the 10 amp fuse runs the front. I was getting A/C in the back when I wanted Heat. The actuator (next to the module that's replaced in this video) was not switching from AC to heat. I replaced it, the actuator reset by switching back and forth but then now it stays on cold again. Going to replace the module next. Good video, some people might have to replace both to get it working.

    Good demonstration. Only bit I would add. When replacing an electrical component inspect the failed component connections. Just in case of corrosion which you will want to clean if found. Dielectric grease is also a good idea especially for electrical connections on the cars exterior.

    05 yukon. Gm suks electrical issues everywhere. All my heater controls have had problems including the heater digital control box i replaced with a junkyard box and it performs exactly the same way, Only heats the vehicle if I set it at 90°.
    Now my rear heat does not work for the second year in a row in the middle of the bitter cold winter and I decided to chop a hole in the area where you showed the actuator is located and I'm going to turn the flap door to the heat position and put a screw to hold it. Forever. My AC doesn't work anyway.

    Hey, just thought I'd share my experience. This video was extremely helpful in changing the HVAC control module, however, the explanation on how to re-calibrate the actuators, would NOT help work for me! What I ended up doing, by searching other sites, was: set both front and rear climate control to cool, turn the ignition to off, pull the HVAC fuse, wait 10 seconds, reinstall fuse, turn vehicle on for 40 seconds while actuators calibrated, turn vehicle off, start vehicle, and the heat finally started working.
    So, if any of you all have issues getting the dang thing to re calibrate, try this out as well.
    Thanks, awesome video, extremely helpful, step-by-step instructions!!!

      I'm not 100% sure, but this module does control a flap which switches from heated air to the duct for cold air. If you let it run for 10 plus mins and nothing, than I can't say for sure. You could try reading through the other comments here and see if you can come up with something.Sorry I couldn't be more help.

    Very good and to the point video. Expedited access to the rear unit. I have replaced all front actuators on the 2004 Yukon last year, now I have the rear blowing hot or warm when a/c is on blowing properly in the front. Seems the rear has too much heat and no a/c or cooling. I am hearing the clicking sound on r/rear now so do you think its this module or one of the actuators?

    • @precisionmachineshed
      @precisionmachineshed  9 лет назад

      Did you replace the Module? I guess I didn't if you did or didn't. If you didn't It may be that, but if you are getting a clicking noise back there, it would make me think that the actuator is getting power and ether engaging or trying to engage. You might have to tear it down again and have someone watch as the switch is thrown to see if the lever is moving or trying to move. I wouldn't think that you would have an obstruction in there, but wouldn't hurt to check if it is moving and not going through it's full movement. It could be the actuator too. I'm not quite sure how to test these for function, but I'm sure someone should have some info on the internet someone about that. Sorry I do not have a definitive answer for you, but maybe some of my suggestions will head you in the right direction. Thanks for the watching and thanks for the comments.

      Using the GM service bulletin as guide and not knowing which of the two codes I had, its a gamble. Apparently mine was the B0424 which was the heat/cold actuator. Regardless the problem is corrected with that.

      You can read through the comments. This repair fixed the control mechanism for the actuator that flips the door from hot to cold.

      I think a lot of people start swapping parts and start with the cheapest or most obvious one first and go from there. This module fixed my issue at the time, but that would have probably been my second part to replace.

      No problem, as far as your issues I am not sure. I have not had that issue so I have not had to fix it. I know there were several people that have commented on this video that have asked about that issue. Maybe you could ask one of those people and maybe they figured it out. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you!

    What if you have rear heat only would this fix that as well?

    • @precisionmachineshed
      @precisionmachineshed  4 года назад +1

      maybe, going off memory, if it's stuck in the cool air position, it will actuate the door and flip it. Otherwise, i think possibly one of the switches on the dash may cause that too.

    Thanks for the video. The air in the rear of my 2005 Chevy Tahoe has been blowing hot and will not go cold. I removed the back panel and replaced the actuator with ACDelco 15-72972. After installing I waited a few minutes for the actuator to calibrate before turning the car off and then on again and then starting the air. The rear still blows only hot air - do you know what the problem could be?

      Not sure but you might have to pull the fuse again and go through the reprogramming again. There are quite a few guys that had to do it more than once before it took.

    • @precisionmachineshed
      @precisionmachineshed  9 лет назад

      hckyplyr9285 Hey, I'm not completely sure. If you are getting heat,but only on a couple speeds could be the speed control switch. As for a resistor, I can't help you there. Thanks for watching!

    My rear AC doesn't blow at all... Would you suggest the same fix?

    • @precisionmachineshed
      @precisionmachineshed  4 года назад

      Could be a fuse, this just fixes the controller that actuates the door going from hot to cold air.

    My rear hoses aren't getting hot from antifreeze to provide heat?

    • @coryblack5687
      @coryblack5687 3 года назад

      Bad heater core. If the front blows hot air and the rear lines don’t get hot at all it’s a bad rear heater core. You could try to flush the core but at that point its probably best to flush and replace.

    Thank You, I just got this vehicle didn't even know there was a heater core back there.i have a question right on top of the tailpipe
    there's a drain hose is that for the A.C or also for the coolant, because 3 days ago I filled the coolant reservoir and when I started my vehicle my service engine light was on and my RPM gauge worked only when I started moving & it said that I was low on coolant. Can you give me any idea on what it could be even just that slippery water coming out from the back drain. Thank You

    • @precisionmachineshed
      @precisionmachineshed  6 лет назад

      Sounds like your back heater core is leaking. I'm no mechanic though.
