    I never used a jig much because I never caught any on it (probably because I wasn't using it) so I decided to use a jig a lot the last couple years and I have caught my PB with a jig so now I have always have a jig on and I throw it constantly, not only have I caught my PB but I have caught more bass over 5lbs in one year than ever in my life! I love jigs!

    This was a really cool video. Haven't watched anyone else do this type of experiment. Spinnerbait vs chatterbait? 🤔You may already have a video, but I can't find it. Good stuff man.

    Good and interesting video, you should consider the mayor population of anglers, that is the bank or pond anglers that do not have a boat. Majority of youtubers focused of course into fishing with a boat but fishing lakes and ponds without a boat is a complete different challenge. Thanks Tyler.

      @@BassFishingHQ thank you for your reply, but spring is one of the most easy season to catch bass since they are very active as you well know. Bank anglers normally do not have or use the tech to find them and in winter is really tough and you really need to use your knowledge and common sense, there is when expert anglers like you come to make the difference.

    Delightful video, but do this same comparison in cold water conditions and the jig outperforms by a much bigger margin. Just my thoughts as I love both set ups equally but I have very specific criteria/conditions that dictate which one I will be using.

      Eric Sh jigs can be a little confusing but the one I was using was a flipping jig, you could use it as a swim jig if you wanted. But it is actually a Boss Wood Walker jig

    Considering that the jig bite was fished almost 2x longer, wouldn't you think in equal time fishing the texas rig would have been able to catch nearly twice as many fish and culled them for a bigger bag?

  • @DanielBoone337
    @DanielBoone337 Год назад +1

    I've always found that you tend to get more bites on soft plastics but you tend to get better bites on jigs... that said a small fish will hit a jig as well under the right circumstances.

    I"m not sure if it won. To be fair you have to look at the variance of your dataset. Variance analysis tells us if the data are significantly different.

    Tyler, i have 2 questions. Why do you and other pro's engage and disengage the thumbar on your reel often when catching a big fish? Secondly, can you fish a jig in grassy ponds from the bank? Awesome channel!

    • @BassFishingHQ
      @BassFishingHQ  2 года назад

      Some guys like to use their built in drag system but myself and others prefer to control the “drag” with out thumbs. This is something I have always done and I just feel really comfortable with it. Fishing a jig in grassy ponds can be done but it can also be very difficult depending on what type of grass is in the pond. A lot of ponds have snot grass in them which makes fishing a jig near the bottom very hard. But you could also swim a jig above the grass to mimic a bluegill and catch bass that way

    I would argue that THE CRAW WON! It's catch speed is nearly twice that of the jig, and the size/weight differences were marginal.

    You needed to time how long it took to catch a fish on each one. The craw might catch more fish because it catches them faster. I find that to be true when using swim baits. The small bait catches smaller ones faster. It can be a confidence builder on those slow bite days.
