YOO - so about that question I asked around what kind of creator I am...would love to hear your thoughts! 👀 This director of social media at a HUGE agency said that she pitches me as a "lifestyle creator with an emphasis on career". Someone else in the comments said i'm a "pathfinder" or "compass" content creator! taking notes here!! tysm 🙏
I know that you two are still somewhat newly married but it made me uncomfortable how you needed to justify your income and contributions to the home. As a couple you share a lot including funds so I don't think a bad thing if you weren't fully supporting yourself or if he contributed more during this period of time. I think normalizing this is important. I know not all couples have joint accounts but I know I was recently laid off I was so thankful to have the support of my husband's income and a healthy amount of savings to ride this wave. Being able to not assign my worth to my (lack) of personal income was huge.
hi alex! aw thank you for sharing your 2c. i appreciate your perspective as someone who is further down the line in marriage. i think you're right to normalize that it is perfectly alright to financially support each other. in retrospect, i wish i added a line on that. kevin and i are still in the middle of figuring out how to merge finances. it's been such a busy year that we haven't made much progress, but hoping to prioritize it in Q4 before the end of the year. "Being able to not assign my worth to my (lack) of personal income was huge." this line totally hit me. i feel like the "badass corporate girl" dream is so ingrained me that it's hard for me to detach, but gotta remind myself that it's okay to let go. thanks for sharing that sentiment!
@@rosquared yoo can i ask - what was your experience like navigating this? o_o to an extent, i think i know my worth, but that's only above a certain threshold. i feel i still subconsciously subscribe to the notion that your value and worth are tied to your career, money, and character. 🥲 more inner work is needed for sure.
Chloe, for me, you're a "pathfinder content creator" or "compass content creator" as your content helps people navigate life in general. Since work is such a big part of life, hobbies, family, etc. which you show in varying amounts in your content. WHICH I LOVE
OOO i've never heard of anyone call my content or me that before. i kind of love it, but i also don't think i would know what that means if i didn't already have context on my content. Hey chloe! As a product manager myself, who has also been laid off, i have always looked up to you! It was so hard to get back up after my lay off, almost a year until i could get another job, so i am glad i was able to have you in my back pocket. Love your podcast by the way! Please talk more about product management and being in the tech world! And as well as money management! I would love to have more insight in how you have navigated all that!

Great video! I really enjoy your content, it’s relaxing and nice to see your perspective on tech and the creative industries. You’re right on constantly needing to level up. My company just did a second round of layoffs today and luckily I made the cut, but it’s still worrying. Even if I did get laid off, I know it’s not the end of world.
This video is exactly what I needed, a kind and gentle reminder that it’s ok to take some time off for myself I’ve quit my job in tech a little over 2 months ago now because I was so burned out and just couldn’t continue anymore And basically ever since I have been having constant internal dialogue whether it was the right thing to do or what is the right thing to do next. Anxiety creeps in like that slowly from time to time. And then I remember, ah, it’s OK, I will find something that will truly resonate with me. And in the meantime just enjoy a lot of me-time and rest Thank you Chloe ❤

Hello, I found you on Instagram reels & from that I landed to youtube channel ❤ You're content looks so good, interesting, & inspiring. Thank you so much for the making content..😊
I stumbled across one of your PM videos a few months ago and also saw your layoff video. Then I found your JOMO channel(I love the content btw) and now this video. You said a lot of interesting things about your life and perspective on things, but the thing that stood out most to me was when you talked about hiring your own team and that whole experience. I’m also a very tech/planner girl, loves content creation(gave up a lot but kept coming back because I love the whole process), and also think think my “creative” side is too weak compared to my strengths so I feel like when I watch your videos, it’s like watching a version of my future self(if I were to go down a similar path). Your journey is truly inspiring and it reminds me that it's possible to create a path that aligns with my passions. I appreciate your honesty and the insights you share; they motivate me to keep pushing forward and embrace my own journey in content creation. Thank you for being such a positive influence!
Love the video ❤❤❤ plus just a tip choose a darker foundation, it’s very pale compared to to your hands and neck which has more of a yellow tone vs the makeup on your face that has no color at all similar to white paint
I am seeing this video just a day after being told to start wrapping things up at my work. While being laid off sucks, I am a bit excited and optimistic about the future. As you said, life is too short to still be slaving away in a soul-sucking 9-5. The financial anxiety though. Anyway, thank you for your insights. I found them very helpful.

You know what, the journey up to this point is quite beautiful. I'm always in awe. And - I do think you are a compass content creator. However, in the agency world I do see them pitching you as a "lifestyle creator with an emphasis on career" as that would make sense for the corporate people
I find it interesting that before I found you, I was a product designer for 3 years and loved it! And now I got picked up by the CDC to be a product manager lol. So far so good with the role but your videos did scare me A LOT. I’m 3 weeks in so let’s see how they treat me!

The paycut was felt, but we have 6months worth of savings as an emergency fund, no debt but a mortgage, and my wife and I budget. I like that you dont overly stress, but I always imagine people with kids in the same situation.
Hey Chloe! So nice to get to catch up with you 😌 glad to hear you share more details even tho I’m following you on IG. I will admit I haven’t gotten around to listening to Jomo but am planning on it soon! 😊
thank u for joining on the catch up together, esther!! :D i do share a lot on IG already haha, but youtube is where i get to go more in-depth. and JOMO has been awesome! the season is coming to an end tho, so that gives me more time to come back to my main youtube channel as well as IG!! :D :D hope you've been well~~ 💕
hi chloe! I’m also at a career break from my last toxic job and how the company betrayed me and my efforts. Could you share on how you process your feelings and how you keep yourself motivated in the same industry? Also can you share a simple comparison between product manager vs project management? Trying to break into one these roles from my healthcare marketing background.
i know, valerie!! it's so interesting how i started JOMO bc i felt i couldn't express more nuance in my regular youtube videos, but now that i've done about 20 ish episodes of JOMO, i feel i don't express things the same way i used to on my normal videos here. they're all so different ah! glad to be back~
Why would your husband not support you financially? When I was laid off my husband was holding down the fork financially for our shared mortgage and when he got laid off I was holding down the fork financially - we are a team , this is what marriage is through wealth and poverty we go through this together - love gives freely

As someone who's passionate about content creation and considering offering services in social media and content consultation, I find myself struggling with confidence when it comes to promoting myself and setting my rates. What advice do you have for overcoming that fear of charging what I believe I’m worth, and how can I effectively attract clients to find me? Thanks for your insights!
Hi Chloe! I am catching up. I have a question for you, currently I am in the digital construction sector, I work as a Project Coordinator and my role has a lot of managerial activities. I´ve been searching for new jobs as a PM, but no luck yet, I´ve been thinking in jumping into the IT field where I can use a lot of the experience that I have, but I am not sure what would be a good starting point, do you have a suggestion? Thanks in advance!
aww sharon - thank you! man the tech/corporate girl identity is still really ingrained in me. i feel like everyone can smell that energy off of me in the creator space. they're always like "wow you're such a product manager". it's been a bit hard to figure out how to express or share those parts of me. i lowkey feel im not allowed to do that anymore since i don't work as a tech girl in an official capacity atm. :/ still figuring things out! appreciate you watching along! hope you've enjoyed all the other stories of 30s life ~

Hi Chloe. My sister, Katie, is a fan of yours. She loves your videos. But she was diagnosed with cancer recently. She was going through treatment, but her cancer ended up getting worse. So she probably doesn't have much time left before she passes away. Would you like to leave a message for her?

I think there is something wrong with society and not your circumstance. I think we need to let go of what society or anyone else thinks. As long as you can cover your 4-walls : Food, Housing, transportation, emergency funds.
Today’s software industry, as I often describe it, feels like a “monkey business.” It reminds me of the countless street musicians playing for a few coins. The deeper issue lies in modern city life-essentially a massive prison. From a young age, people are funneled into the same path: school, college, university, graduation, and then a career tethered to a laptop. But amidst this race to build a “laptop life,” who is left to plant the tomatoes, raise the chickens, or bake the bread that everyone depends on? This disconnect reveals a fundamental flaw in how we structure our priorities and sustain ourselves as a society.
I want to focus on my youtube full time when I am done with my college(hopefully in June) while looking for work. I am not sure if I would want to freelance. Hello! there. I saw your videos and was impressed by the quality of your content. However, after analysis, I noticed there needs to be improvement for getting more views and subscribers. You are working hard but the main motive to reach an exact audience is not fulfilled. You are working for your audience if the video can't reach them. That's a waste of your energy and time also. I will show the problem in your video and share how to fix it. Only say ‘yes’ if you want to grow your channel.

hope you've been well~~ 💕
omg I missed you !!!!!!
love from a London tech girl 🫶🏾🫶🏾🥰🥰🥰
AWW! hi leona!! :D :D wow didn't know people in london watch this channel!! :D hope i get to visit one day!
Can relate to this
Missed you on RUclips! But thankfully we get to catch up with you on jomo every week 🤭
i know, valerie!! it's so interesting how i started JOMO bc i felt i couldn't express more nuance in my regular youtube videos, but now that i've done about 20 ish episodes of JOMO, i feel i don't express things the same way i used to on my normal videos here. they're all so different ah! glad to be back~
Why would your husband not support you financially? When I was laid off my husband was holding down the fork financially for our shared mortgage and when he got laid off I was holding down the fork financially - we are a team , this is what marriage is through wealth and poverty we go through this together - love gives freely
THEY DON’T LOVE YOU LIKE I LOVE YOU!
I mean it. Sending hugs because binge watching your videos helped me through a couple of bad days.
OMG THE ENERGY FROM YOUR COMMENT!! i love it 🥹
and im so glad to hear that the videos help you through your days. that means the world to me. sending lots of love and positive energy. hope you slay in these next few months of 2024 ✨
As someone who's passionate about content creation and considering offering services in social media and content consultation, I find myself struggling with confidence when it comes to promoting myself and setting my rates. What advice do you have for overcoming that fear of charging what I believe I’m worth, and how can I effectively attract clients to find me? Thanks for your insights!
Hey Chloe! Where's the beige bag from 14:11? 🤍 love your outfits!!
Hello! It’s the YSL Le 5 à 7 Supple small leather shoulder bag!! Rose from Blackpink rep’d it a while back! I got it at the Taiwan airport ~~
I just got laid off on my 30th birthday a few weeks ago and found your channel recently, I relate so much to what you're saying here
Yoo I got laid off on my 27th 😎
@@nti1656 and I just found another job! Everything happens for a reason my friend you'll be ight 👌
Thanks in advance!
i definitely first subscribed b/c of your tech/corporate girlie content, but then i stay for the content!
aww sharon - thank you! man the tech/corporate girl identity is still really ingrained in me. i feel like everyone can smell that energy off of me in the creator space. they're always like "wow you're such a product manager". it's been a bit hard to figure out how to express or share those parts of me. i lowkey feel im not allowed to do that anymore since i don't work as a tech girl in an official capacity atm. :/ still figuring things out! appreciate you watching along! hope you've enjoyed all the other stories of 30s life ~
i love you so much and thank you for this im in the same boat for sure hang in there god is with us .
ahhh thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions!
I really appreciated + valued your answers 🥹 they were all so sweet, kind, and well thought out
best of luck in this latter half of your gap year!! you got this Chloe!! WOOHOO!! 🥳
Ahh thank you Timothy!! Appreciate your questions and following along the journey! This year is ending so soon 😭😭😭 need to buckle down and push things out!
What app do you use to edit your videos? Welcome back!
You've inspired me to try youtube/social media this year. Do you have a list of devices or gadgets you are using to make your videos?
which mic do you use? It isn't in your amazon store any longer.
I've always loved how you edit your video. What platform/tools do you use? Would love your advice as I'd like to learn to be a video editor.
I use premiere pro!! There’s a lot of free tutorials on RUclips!
Great video! Persistency is key
thank you alex!! totally agree ~ now i gotta go be persistent and get my life together before 2024 ends 😓 we still have more to go!!
@@chloeshih same boat 8+ years corporate now flying solo..
Hi Chloe. My sister, Katie, is a fan of yours. She loves your videos. But she was diagnosed with cancer recently. She was going through treatment, but her cancer ended up getting worse. So she probably doesn't have much time left before she passes away. Would you like to leave a message for her?
ca u suggest some course on how to start the product manager or any guidance that u can give , i am fresher but i have been working in a start up for almost 1 yrs now since i was working from my yrs of my university , i really wanna level myself to get into product manager role , so can u please suggest few goodones
Tech + mom + lifestyle niche!
not a mom yet, but that time will come eventually!! :D :D
and yes tech + lifestyle are definitely the overarching verticals i'm in!
i would assume this year is probably the year the earned the most money. i dont think u ever need to suffer a 9-5 ever again!
I want to focus on my youtube full time when I am done with my college(hopefully in June) while looking for work. I am not sure if I would want to freelance. Goverment takes a loooot of money in taxes. Almost feel like I am being ripped off 😂 I rather spend my time on RUclips. If I could make my money here that would be great 😊
Are u able to relieve yourself from having to hold the mic, would be nice production value
I love love love the Artist’s Way 🍸🍸🍸🍸
It was so great rereading it this year now that I’m doing creative work. Hits different!!
Do you have a po box?
I was a Product Lead for a big firm and I'm exactly in the same situation as you. Hi 5

But pls keep continue doing these videos cuz it literally feels like a sister talking to me and trying to help me in life
Thank you Chlo💓
chloe! do you have any websites/news sources/newsletters that you recommend to keep up with for the pm/tech world? :o
hi jems! are you looking for more tips on interviews and breaking into product, tech news overall, or news on a specific industry? i'm lowkey starting a newsletter around career and life advice centered around my experiences as a tech product manager and content creator too 😳 just wanted to get more color on what you're looking for!
Guys, we love her. The video is packed with key points after another. No BS, super impactful and heart warming, and even goes the extra mile to help reframe viewers Q&A questions to address their true concerns and desires. She’s not just answering from her pov, she empathies with the questions deeply. Chloe, thank you for all the effort. Been binge watching Jomo lots. Your content truly helps people feel seen and grow. 🫶🏻
JULIET! YOU ARE TOO SWEET!! imma cry 😭😭😭 thank you for this comment. i feel so much hype and support. thank you for appreciating the answer breakdown. i almost felt it was almost too straight-forward, structured, and a little boring? D:
but thank you for this positive comment - made my day!
im also so glad to hear you enjoy JOMO!! it's brought out a whole new (savage) side of me that i was always too scared to bring up on this channel haha. hope you enjoy all the episodes to come in season 1!!
im so early omg
welcome welcome hehe
If all these people are making money in tech why they have RUclips channels? 😂😂😂 DO NOT GO INTO TECH 😅
💕💕💕
🫶🫶🫶 sending love
I would just grind the leetcode if I have nine months of time.
you'd be god-tier at leetcode then!! but yeah that is truly a sweaty grind x_x
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
hey swatilekha!! :D :D always makes me happy to see you comment!
Hello!
Can u just do ur normal RUclips day to day videos? JOMO podcasts is somehow cringy
hm, why are they cringy to you?
yayy first
ayee!! we love to see it~~
🩷
You should dump Kevin. His job is not to expect monetary contribution from you.
too much concealer chloe. why u hiding ur beautiful natural features
Ok, as a graphic designer who loves animation and has been seeing whats been happening all 2024 in the industry i wanna ask.... who's gonna tell her? 🥲
omg i don't think im actually gonna get a job in graphic design, design, or animation. they're really skills i've always been interested in for my personal hobby. i guess think of it as like taking pottery or singing class? i just wanna make stuff for funsies haha! thanks for watching out for me though
@@chloeshih oh i see! This is great, i am rooting for your personal development an i wish you luck,
Great video!
❤❤❤❤❤
