- Hey there!
a wHOOOOOOOOOLE lot of things going through my mind with this one, can't help but feel a bit.. hungry still? we waited over a year for this and it's SO SHORT - I'm sure there's a lot more lore to be decrypted in metaphors or something of the sort (and honestly, I like this feeling of wanting more way more than "WOW IT'S FINALLY OVER THANKFULLY")

the main things for me are definitely the five sinners, that's so exciting.. rhinedottir and skirk's master being two of them is even more exciting, soon I'll be going through the game looking for those spicy lore books and getting a better understanding of the rest of the lore that's not in voiced quests!
the other thing that had me really intruigued is us being called lumine by aether, and the screen breaking? it gave such a "the player isn't lumine" feeling, not sure if I liked it or not, I kinda liked feeling like the MC? it almost felt like i was spying on a conversation I shouldn't have been a part of AND THEN LUMINE'S MEMORY WAS WIPED BUT I STILL KNOW? nahhhh
anyway lmk what you thought! we have a year to brainstorm ideas so.. yay B)

in the previous traveler aq (caribert quest), kaeya said maybe his father left him in mondstadt to have a better future/good life. then seeing caribert wish to have a normal life free of the burdens from his alberich bloodline and his khaenriahn origin, it became even clearer that kaeya is living the life that caribert wanted to have.
for the longest time since genshins release, we thought kaeya being the "khaenriahs last hope" meant he's going to be a tool for the next rebellion because even kaeya thought so when he was young. but maybe, kaeya interpretation of his father's words in the caribert quest is the true meaning of it.
He's not a tool. He's the "last hope" because he's going to be the khaenriahn that survived the catclysm and is not burdened by sins and curses. Kaeya is going to live a normal and free man.
And he must pass on his bloodline hehehehehe

I think it's crazy that they were teasing the sinners as early as 1.0! Kaeya mentions them in his voiceline "More About Kaeya: IV"

I wish Hoyo animated the fight between Dain and Abyss Twin.

The dark and light elements system not ready yet. I'm guessing they are saving it for some time after Snezhnaya once Celestia and Abyss enter the stage full force. I've been calling them Lumeno and Umbro for now.
Aether is cooking something big... The completed Loom of Fate has ability to "weave ley lines" which I assume can alter reality in some way (kinda like how Scara manipulated his fate through Irminsul). Aether might use it to undo the massive tragedy 500 years ago or do something to remove the curse on the hilichurls like what he planned in that dainslief chasm quest
the photo is a proof of that
I don't think the loom can edit the past since the loom can't replace existing leylines but weave new ones. To say the least it could help with the Hilichurl curse but I doubt it can alter the past since Teyvat is Irminsul's domain. But then again, the burning of the tree is yet to happen so how that interacts with teyvat will help us uncover more of the limit of this loom.
I think a big thing that makes this feel ok as being short is because Fontaine showed that the main Archon quest and even some story quests have more connections to the background plots than before. It feels less like from Fontaine on the Dain is truly in his own island of content especially with how this tied directly so well into things we learned from Fontaine Act 5 and are hinted to follow up in Natlan.
So it feels less like before where "Dain is the only way to get answers about half this shit"
It also felt like a nice conclusion to Caribert's story so that new chapter could be opened up for next year.
This quest made me like Aether as the Abyss twin and Lumine as the protagonist even more. The dynamic just fits. Especially the headpat at the end since hes the older brother.
yes lol, i do like abyss lumine better but the scene when we were talking just radiates warm older brother energy! also traveller lumine relates with dainslef because dains older brother betrayes him.. lumine deffo feels the same!

this quest was so good and gave us so many things to think about, a huge thing was the fact that more than ever before now Dain doesnt feel like a very reliable narrator since it has to do not just with his ex travelling companion anywmore but his own borther that he is at odds with. I can't help but feel extremely sad about Caribert too, he was just a kid that became a tool to the adults and suffered because of them and their goals. And most important of all i am SO GLAD we got to keep a picture because if traveller had seriously completely forgotten their meeting with their sibling i would have been incredibly mad after how sad their reunion made me.
Dain did say that our sibling hasn't crossed the line of evil yet, makes me wonder what everyone's goal really is, including the tsarista and how is she even gonna use the gnosis' and how are all these gonna be connected.
@@windyp0d yeah completely agree, Dain still holds our sibling dear in a way yet they are aligned with his brother who he thinks has crossed that line and as you said theres clearly a connection with the Fatuus plan and the music event seemed to tease a future war but its unclear what everyone's true goals are when we have so little informations to go off of

1:31 well in last years Dain quest we learned that Khaenri’ah is somewhere underneath Sumeru, more specifically the desert since you can find a certain Khaenri’ah door deep underground.
I love how he just laughed and asked questions meanwhile I was bawling my eyes out playing this quest 😭
that’s why i watch less and less of his quests gameplay… like love him slay and stuff but it feels like he doesn’t have the same emotionally care he had before, idk how to explain, but I don’t like watching someone who doesn’t care THAT much in a way. 😊
i don't think not crying every time means i care less? if anything if i were to act touched by any and everything the game did it'd show it was really fake no? laughing is also a coping mechanism, i'm not a fan of recording myself cry
besides, this arc is just too slow for my liking, one quest once a year isn't really what i'm into, a shame it comes over as not caring anymore

@@brendanarthie7703depends on which Honkai game, Star Rail doesn't phase me much it has some moments that made me teary other than that it's okay but Honkai Impact is a vastly different beast and I will forever be anguish till my very death (Kiana ahhhhhhhhhhh)

the moment caribert appeared i immediately knew it was him because of the earring because that's kaeya's!!! honestly the alberich genes are all over the caribert model: the eyes, the hair colour. those genes do carry on.
Wait omgg i didn't realise kaeya has the similar earring!! that makes sense, I've forgotten half of chlothar's design and haven't been playing kaeya for a year now lol, I had already seen leaks that caribert is gonna be in the quest accidentally so it wasn't really a reveleation sadly, I thought the earrings was just there to make him unique and memorable.

i did this archon quest super early on in my day thinking it'd take forever and then i finished it and was so disappointed because i didnt get enough dain simping time :c excited to watch as always
yeah, we just normalized him showing up, saying sth for 5 minutes, getting injured and DIPPING. Like HUH?? NO COME BACK
It really made me emotional. I felt nostalgic about the time I spent with my sibling despite not having seen any of it on screen. That's wild.
For a story to have this effect with such little time shows how much substance there is in the story and the characters.

47:16 i think you are the only one who realized dainsleif’s worry? disbelief? when meeting the abyss sibling. he was kinda holding back wasn’t he? and it was also verified when our sibling tols us in the caribert space! that was a really nice detail and solidify the thoughts that their relationship is deeper than we thought it would be
My only gripe with the Traveler quests is that they should come out sooner. I WAITED a year for this come on Hoyo... Some people probably have issues with the reunion being forgotten, but I'm not too frustrated by it. What I am bothered by is that they couldn't spare a minute for Traveler and Paimon to talk about the photo before ending the quest. UGH.
On a fun note, I think it's neat that Kaeya's voiceline from way back when suddenly has more meaning now that we know of the Sinners. "The legacy of Khaenri'ah is long gone. The sinners are all that's left, and they're not worth mentioning."

I think the quest length was decent actually
Short, definitely. But short in the leaves you wanting more way, not short in the abrupt and underdone way. Gives us just the right amount of reveals and a surprising amount of feels for its runtime, with absolutely memorable characters and interactions all the same.
Also, I FUCKING KNEW RHINEDOTTIR WAS A SINNER. SHE'S BEEN UP TO NO GOOD SINCE FOREVER. We _are_ getting Hexenzircle content later in the patch I wonder why they include Rhinedottir and what they make of her.
Well the prophecy was written by Dain's brother, so I think he somehow made Focalors think that was the only way to prevent the prophecy
maybe to make sure that Nuvi will have the power of dragons or to make sure to lore Skirk as a massage for his fellow Sinner Surtalogi
Isn't narwhal said to be skirk's master's pet? basically surtalogi's pet? he was probably controlling it to make the prophecy true, because even skirk thought it was a weird and useless pet to have. Man I can't wait to see these people If they're not playable I'm literally quitting genshin, they seem cooler than even capitano and tsarista. I hope they show them like how they showed the fatui in "A winter night's lazzo" lol that would be crazy

tbh the way i see things about the "controlling lumine" is we play as traveller, no idea why aether/lumine uses a fake name in teyvat but they do and i feel like that is who we're controlling in a way, idk if it makes sense lmao
Maybe the player is just one of Lumine's/Aether's alter ego? Like, in teyvat, they express themselves as traveller, but in other worlds, they're different. Anyway, I just think of it as that, because damn it, the game finally said it, "You're the only one who call me that" 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I think this was like one of the first archon quest that actually made me cry especially when I read the picture card at the end
I’m thinking that maybe someone from the Hexenzirkel (like N) got the photo for the MC, as a way to sort of make us happy and show that they’re looking out for us. At least, that’s what the “4th wall breaking” text about the photograph is giving me.
Also I’m very curious as to Dains thoughts regarding the Hexenzirkel considering Golds position inside it. All very interesting stuff and I can’t wait to see what happens next. 🙏

its hard to say that Hexenzirkel is in any way involved in this quest tbh. bcs the picture is, to me, the dev team guess on what players want to happen on that realm. Caribert has ceased to exist when your Twin walks in, while the picture shows that the paragraph is, most likely (again, to me), Caribert listening to both Twins and saying his advice before ceasing to exist. its almost impossible to guess how Caribert would act if you dont know him, which i do believe the Hexenzirkel doesnt have that kind of information. even N style fate "reading" would only give his moment of cease, not what could happen if he lives 5 minutes longer
@@aichisendou6375 I think that’s a fair assessment, and whilst I think part of it was to give players a better note to end the quest on, it’s also directly mentioned by the characters so unless it’s meta SOMETHING in canon would have to explain it.
Tbh It’s likely there’s an actual reasoning they don’t care to explain, but the only thing that comes to mind for me is N. It’s real confusing though with how it appeared because it seems like a message Caribert would give, he shouldn’t have experienced the greeting and In the end I’m lead to believe Caribert would be unable to send off a message like that, cause he *should* be already dead.
So maybe it is actually possible Caribert hadn’t fully died yet, especially considering it was only a while after the realm of his consciousness faded. It simply brings back the question of how we’re not able to remember things if Caribert didn’t die which, makes everything seem contradictory, if you take all of the given information at face value.
So I think I kinda agree, but then again you never know in genshin. ☠️
I didn't realise the Traveler's name actually changed into Lumine, my username was always Lumine so "You're the only one that calls me that" didn't felt as impactful as it was supposed to 😅. I guess this time it makes sense to create an actual nickname instead of trying to roleplay 😂
I liked it quite a bit. Have to do research on the Sinners in earnest now though. When Mona said 'Visionary' before, I figured she was referring to her master, Barbeloth, and spent the past year thinking that SHE was the Visionary. But no, it was Dain's brother, an entirely different person.
Wow, did they finally realize that Paimon's voice was very annoying after more than two years of putting up with such direction?
This is the second patch where I've noticed that they started lowering her voice.
Hopefully, this is not an anomaly and they don't revert to the previous settings when entering Natlan.
I think they already know that most of the fandom doesn't like her squeaky voice lol almost every genshin content creater's overused joke is "shut up paimon" (which is kinda based ngl) it's not like most developers and creators don't check what their fandom has in opinion of certain things. almost everyone thinks her softer voice is better
As you said, I also felt hungry still after so long. It felt very short but I'm glad the twins reunited at least for a bit? Despite them not remembering that. 😭 It's not my personal favorite out of all the ones we have, but it was nice nonetheless. I can't say much after that bomb Fontaine archon quest we had for sure.
This was the first archon quest that genuinely made me cry 😭 my brother was looking at me like i had five heads lmaooo

I read elsewhere that the whole "forgetting the reunion" thing was a necessary evil, otherwise our MC would just drop everything to go look for the sea of flowers at the end, and not really go to Natlan and Snezhnaya anymore

Her act was not necessarily useless, if you consider that Focalors picked Furina around 500-490s years ago, the Heavenly Principles would have just slumbered and any large scale attempt could have awakened them. In addition, the primordial waters would still overflow one day regardless and Neuvi has to get closer to humans so that he will (with his kindess) do his dragon magic to make Fontainians true humans so they wouldn't dissolve. Doing a Archon switch with Furina was most likely added measure so all eyes would be on her whilst Focalors farmed energy for her execution (like misdirection in magic).

The prophecy will happen strictly once furina was discovered the false archon
So if she were discovered early the oratrice wouldnt have gathered enough Indemnitium to carry out the death sentence to give back neuvillette's full authority to cleanse the sins of fontainians
Thus just a bad ending overall
You know. Throughout this entire quest. Every single one of the traveller's dialogues was voiced by you lol. Like it was your voice in my head reading it out and I found that so quirky. I've been waiting to watch this video, if you can't tell.
Go back and listen to Kayea’s voice lines!! He mentioned the sinners when the game first came out and now it finally makes sense

i’ve gotten so used to 5 hour long quests from Fontaine and 9 hour quests from Penacony that this one felt CRIMINALLY short but holy moly those lore bombs?!?!! we better not end up waiting another whole year before the next Dain quest cause i have MORE questions now😭

I reckon the photo is either our brother using the now complete loom of fate to change reality and make the photo somehow, or a foreshadowing that we're going to have that picture taken in some way in the future and it ends up in our pocket as some sorta time travelling mess, or maybe "we" didn't see the full conversation, and something happened behind the scene, like the conversation we had with him wasn't real and what actually happened was in the photo, because caribert left before aether came, so how did we take this picture?? ORR caribert actually IS the loom of fate and he lied for some reason because the one who took the picture and wrote those words are presumably him, so it's safe to say that he changed reality to give us the photo not our brother. Or maybe the devs were just silly and wanted a 4th wall breaking emotional token for the feels.
