Megan -- Thanks for the offer of answering questions, Megan. I'm a gentile who loves matzoh ball soup. Recipes call for simmering them in salted water then transferring into the broth. I simmer mine directly in the broth and that gives them more flavor. Is there a practical reason for including the water step? I've been told that my way would make the broth cloudy and that a clear broth looks more appealing. Is it solely the eye-ball effect? I cannot fathom such a preference. To me, a rich broth looks appetizing. Does a clear broth look better to you? Thank you and hello from Kansas (where we suffer a severe Jew-shortage).
A tip from a Jew: just be careful when cooking the Matzta balls in the soup, because they will soak it up (and you'll have less soup). Consider cooking them in water (lame) or broth (fame) then move them to the soup. They are also great cold!
Your matzo ball soup is far from gray and odd looking! It's so vibrant! My son is 1 years old and making my first ever batch of matzo ball soup by myself this year. I'm using your recipe now! 😊
@mollygerson1165 One YEAR old. Adding an "s" makes it plural. And, since ONE is only ONE, and NOT PLURAL, saying "1 years old" makes absolutely NO SENSE. That said, I am sure your little one has enjoyed many matzo ball soups since then, since you made your comment four years ago! Good on you, making your family homemade delicious soups!
whenever i got sick as a kid, my best friend's mom would always bring over matzo ball soup for me. it was so sweet of her and it always made me feel special. luckily for me, i live in a very jewish community, so there's lots of places around to find a good bowl of it but it's always better to make your own in my opinion. fresher is always better. also your voice reminds me of bob ross! have you ever considered doing audiobooks?
i've always spelled it pesach (raised ultra-orthodox jewish in boro park) but pesakh might help nonjews with the pronunciation. and then there's passover
I usually add diced onions (after frying until transparent) to the matzo balls mixture, it so delicious! And we usually just eat it with chicken soup, or without anything, it's good as it is. I LOVE KNEIDALACH😋
I always thought this was a Mexican dish! My mom used to make this all the time, similar ingredients with a couple differences but I never knew it was a Jewish dish. 😱😱 This dish is like a caring and loving hug wrapped into one. I love it. Im glad I youtubed a craving and got educated as well. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Mike!!!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories with us. I cannot wait to try your grandparent's recipe. Chag Pesach kasher vesame’ach from my family to yours!! :D ✡
It looks and feels light, not something so seasoned to death it gives heartburn. In Chinese cuisine there is a style of cooking that uses the least amount of ingredients but delivers a flavorful and light sensation called "CHING, CHING" which simply means clean and light. This type of food preparation is done when someone is just coming out of a sickness or when you just feel bloated and tired after heavy feasting.
My best friend in high school is Jewish. I didn't know what Judaism was until I met her. But boy do i remember the food her mother made at passover! After years of studying religions of the world, I understand Judaism soooo much more. Im so grateful for that and my mentors who taught me about this sacred religion.
You can hear the smile and emotion in his voice..Thanks for sharing,I love to hear stories of traditions.. I've always wanted to try that soup and now that it looks so easy, I'm going to the grocery store and going to attempt this recipe..:)
Tasty editors... if you could include the list of ingredients in the description, it would be very helpful for users to cut and paste, and validate ingredients without having to replay the video. Thanks!
I swear its my favorite food of all times! My family and i eats it all the time, even not on Passover! And btw, happy passover! I hope everybody will enjoy their matza with Nutella ❤
Okay ... I'm ASSUMING that you are putting those matzo balls in while they are still FROZEN in order for them to keep their shape as you referred to earlier. Is that true? I can't WAIT to try this wonderful recipe! :)
His voice is so calming !!! 👌🏼

I’m still confused on what Kosher means, what does it mean?
@@patm934 kosher means that the beat has been blessed by a rabbi
givememore4free oh thank you and did you mean meat instead of beat?

I had matzo ball soup once from my 3rd grade teacher over a decade ago & I still think about it. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. 🤧
I make food videos too :)

Oh yeah
Happy pesah everybody (sorry Idk how to spell it on English)

I'm Sephardic. I am loving this video.
I thought I was the only one that likes matza ball soup still
Those look dense as fuck not fluffy. The real trick is to not roll them in a ball like that and drop it in to the water in a loose ball
Thank you for sharing this recipe Mike
Mike! Yay! I've been wanting to make this for a while so I'm happy to try Mike's family recipe.
His voice is so calming omg
Everyone watching who’s Jewish

I'm a Catholic, but I'm really considering making this one day and realizing and loving where Judaism and there practices came from
I add bacon to mine.
קניידלךך😍
I’m not keeping Passover this year but I’m still making matzo ball soup

Shabbat Shalom
CHICKEN!! Where's the chicken? Using chicken stock is just plain lazy and doesn't capture the true flavor of what chicken soup is supposed to be.
All this time I thought matzo ball made of meat ... searched to know how people are making it ...👍👍 ..btw I'm Muslim
Your voice sounds... nice

It's kosher to have chicken broth and egg in the same meal? Just wondering. I'm not Jewish...
This was a great video. Thank you for filming, all the best Shaun of NYC
Why is there no published recipe?? That’s not very helpful.
There is, it's the video you just watched idiot
Tasty editors... if you could include the list of ingredients in the description, it would be very helpful for users to cut and paste, and validate ingredients without having to replay the video. Thanks!
Looks good but I had a Jewish girlfriend and I observed pass over even tho I'm catholic. It was garbage food, would try it again if u cooked my friend
I swear its my favorite food of all times! My family and i eats it all the time, even not on Passover!

Good ☝️
Am I the only one who is excited when I get a dense ball? I know. They should be fluffy, but it’s like I like al dente pasta
I was the only Jew in my high school.......not very good memories....
Don't know what the ingredients, no listing on description
??????🤔
Very Nice !
Do you think it'll work with bread crumbs instead of matzo meal?
💟💟💟💟💞💞💞💞💝💝💝💝
Wow I just learned so much! Annddd your voiceeee omg ❤️🥰❤️ soothing!
I love matzo ball soup!! I used to make it often, and used schmaltz instead of canola oil. Your version looks delicious though. 😋 😋
In a broth that has a layer of chicken fat. The old heart attack way.
If u took reading bsck up it would.come back really quickly
I know lobster isn’t kosher bit lobster thermidor is the least photogenic food on the planet. Looks hideous but tastes great.
Greetings . I used corn meal instead. With some chick pea meal .And beef stock everything else the same .And it came out good unique .
Tried this recipe today and it came out great!! I never had it before and I loved it
Looks so good 😍
CANOLA OIL?????? no!!!!!! It's supposed to be chicken fat/schmaltz!
Right?
You'll be even prouder when you accept you two as your Messiah and you're not cast it into the lake
Your voice is like a calm and easy-going narrator, in other words... soothing
What a beautiful soul! Can we have more videos with him/his voice please!!!! 😭❤️
He really could get paid to just read aloud. I love his voice
