    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Marilyn Manson responds to Moore regarding his feelings about being blamed for youth's violent behavior, and discusses his feelings on the President.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
Filmmaker, author, and political activist Michael Moore trains his satirical eye on America's obsession with guns and violence in his third feature-length documentary, which gets its title from a pair of loosely related incidents. On April 20, 1999, shortly before they began their infamous killing spree at Columbine High School in Littleton, CO, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold attended their favorite class, a no-credit bowling course held at a bowling alley near the school, the same bowling alley which would become the scene of a robbery and triple homicide two years later. While pondering these events, Moore humorously considers the link between random violence and the game of ten pins; along the way, Moore calls on the Michigan Militia (and gets to know some of the models for their "Militia Babes" calendar); spends some time with James Nichols, brother of Oklahoma City bombing accomplice Terry Nichols; visits K-Mart's corporate offices with two teenagers injured in the Columbine massacre as they ask the retail chain to stop selling bullets for handguns; investigates the media's role in the American climate of fear and anger; compares crime statistics in the United States with those of Canada (which, despite higher unemployment and a larger number of guns per capita, manages to rack up a small fraction of the homicides committed in the United States), and questions actor and National Rifle Association president Charlton Heston regarding his appearance at a pro-gun rally held in Littleton a few days after the Columbine massacre, and a similar rally in Flint, MI, after a six-year-old boy killed a classmate with a gun he took from his uncle's house. Bowling for Columbine received its first public screening at the 2002 Ann Arbor Film Festival; the film's official premiere took place a few months later at the Cannes Film Festival.

"The president was shooting bombs overseas... yet I'm the bad guy because I sing Rock-N-Roll songs"
Unfortunately, that may be the most underrated and most truest thing I've ever heard.
Hell, his "fear and consumption" analogy was also really good, as well.

Art is suppose to express our emotions and lives. Bad things are part of us and our reality so why shouldn't someone be allowed to express it through art? Does it make someone a bad person for showing us these things in a different light? I don't think so. Clearly Marilyn Manson is a good person even if he sings about terrible things. Shakespeare had a lot of death and misery in his plays yet people renown him for his work.

The worst part of this is: Since then, the violence continued so much that there were actually high school student survivors who publicly talked about the situation. And they weren't just smart about it, like using the right words, they did with such dignity that it litteraly blew my mind ... What was the reaction of many politicians? They're so young, what do they know about life? ... Which I am personnaly translating as "We do not want to hear you, not interested son, sorry".
So ... The words Marylin Manson, what he described ... man it's still true today, so true that it breaks my heart.
It think it's time we listened, and listened hard to what those students have to say ... especially when they actually take the time and gather the necessary dignity to say it in public.
Do what you want with what I just said, it's just my very own personnal opinion on the subject,

@@daedalusdreamjournal5925 As a student myself, I too wish that people would listen to us. A lot of the time, we are assumed to have done something bad ourselves even though we did not do anything. Not enough people realize that their actions also effects us, that every word people not only says about us but does to us hurts. The sad thing, as I noticed as we got older, we just learned to "go with it." Some of us has started to "agree" with the adults even though we really don't. Just so we get a break. I get it though, you want the best for us, but not always is what you THINK is best, is not what seems to even help us. When the students are alone, especially in my school (there is this one place where we can just sit alone and eat lunch), I do know we talk about how screwed we are in our life. We talked about how we don't know how taxes or banks really work and yet some adults criticize us for not knowing, even though no one even tried to teach us. I am eternally grateful to my computer science teacher for giving us an insight into how some of these things work. Yes, there are always those teens who don't care, just as is there are adults who just doesn't care. Sorry for dragging this on, this might have been much for a small comment on agreeing with you, I just wanted to release something that had bothered me and for sure other teens.

I know that what happened in Uvalde will never be forgiven and forgotten. But I also as a parents I blame Sal's parents accountable for not helping or taking care of their kid, I wished that Sal would have gotten the help that he needed and he would be alive and the other little kids and school teachers as well I perhaps wished that Sal would have been just an average nobody...but an alive nobody. We need to realize that a lots of kids age eighteen are not ready yet to take adult responsibilities it takes more than just a number to change things and behavior, you're an adult when you act like one, a number doesn't change things. After all how many truly important decisions will you trust to an eighteen year old kid?

He's well spoken in interviews, but he's not always polite. His music and stage presence is a kind of cathartic release, considering he said he'd be a serial killer if he wasn't a musician. But the world doesn't have another serial killer, and he gives people outlets for their anger, a feeling of belonging for outsiders, so it's good! ... But he has peed on people at a concert, his stage persona is kind of crazy.

    • @antithoughtpolice7497
      @antithoughtpolice7497 3 года назад +7

@Keandre Rasean Nah, his stage presence is just cathartic release. He's got personal problems with Christianity so he takes it out on holy objects on stage instead of on Christians (you know, PEOPLE) What is shock rock genre if not... shocking? And on off stage, if someone has a problem with him, he's fine. He wouldn't want people that have issues with religion taking it out on the people, so do it at a concert.
Having him like that is just the lesser of two evils I'd take any day.

Luis Ángel, it does, by itself it doesn’t, but in this context, being calm and reasonable in tone makes it easier to listen carefully and observe the person. If Manson was yelling and angry, his layer of confidence would fade away, as he would be obviously hurt. Keeping a calm tone proves a point by making yourself better than them.

Marilyn Manson is a true artist. He uses shock value to get his messages across various mediums and a lot of it relates to the hypocrisy of the world and what is truth. I watched him in many interviews and he is very well spoken, informed, and highly intelligent. Many tend to think he is evil incarnate but he’s just an artist conveying messages of things considered to be taboo. That was his calling. I may not like or support everything he advocates for or says but I do respect him as an intellectual. He was so spot on about Columbine and his response was the best he could ever provide:

i love how this shows Manson boiled down to the human he truly is. Beyond his music, beyond the persona he exudes, and even beyond everyones (whether they be fans or haters) expectations of him. He is a down to earth human, and he can think for himself and not have the media or government tell him what hes supposed to be thinking. He sees through all that bullshit and is so easily able to explain how and why most of america are puppets to the control that both factions have over us. And the last thing he said, "I wouldnt say a thing, Id listen to them." It just shows that he knows what the true vaccine was to quell the rage in those young mens hearts. Even today in this world we are so quick to hate those who are unique and themselves....we are so willing to let history repeat itself by only accepting the same carbon copied cloned sheep into our herd instead of look to those who are different and try to understand and accept them for who they are... Kind of why I dont see him as some satanist rock star whos trying to pull kids to the dark side......I just see him as an intellectual, doing what he loves to do, and not giving a damn what anyone thinks or says about him. Hes definitely living the real dream, and i very much respect him for it. I wish I had that kind of courage.

Marilyn Manson had really good points in this interview. one of my favorites was when he was asked what would he say if he had the chance to speak with the columbine students, what would he say? he said "I wouldn't say a single thing, I would listen to them, listen to what they have to say because no one did". no one listens until it's too late.

This is why I love Marilyn Manson - he says the deep intelligent statements that shocks his critics. They underestimated him and used him as a scapegoat which was unfair and disgusting. He didn’t supply the guns to the killers or train them in how to kill, these two young men were very disturbed traumatised young men who didn’t get the help they deserved. That’s not Marilyn’s fault that’s the fault of the health system that didn’t support them with therapy and the faculty that taught them but didn’t console them. Marilyn was absolutely right at the end when he said that he wouldn’t talk at all he would just listen because nobody ever bothered or cared and that’s why the massacre happened

That's what I've been saying to everyone I know. There's been just over half a million deaths from it worldwide and almost 8 million of those that contracted it have recovered. It's the same thing every year. We had SARS, Lyme Disease, Swine Flu, Bird Flu, the list goes on and on. Exactly what's been going on since 1999 and they try to say we're all going to die. You all must buy these products to protect yourself. Just a bunch of sheep, that don't get that this isn't 1918, where Avian Flu killed an estimated 50 to 100 million people worldwide. More than both world wars combined. Even worse was the Black Plague of 1350 that killed half of Europe. Many of those people that stocked up on toilet paper were selling it for $50 a pack on Ebay and Amazon. Same old bullshit every year, just so the big companies can make extra profit and have an excuse to lay off people, or even fire them to hog more money. Really sick how people are so easily mislead. I'm not saying I won't wash my hands and wear a mask when I shop. If the stores want me to, I will. But I still think it's a big hoax to scare people and squeeze more money out of them.

I feel like this way of thinking is even more needed now than it was at the time. Everybody is just trying to get a word in and wants their opinion or point of view to be heard but nobody is actually listening. I feel like that’s only gotten worse with social media because it’s so easy for people to broadcast every solitary thought they have to the entire world. And a lot of that is positive, but I honestly do believe that if everyone talked a little less and listened a little more the world would not be in as bad of a state as it currently is.

Neither Eric Harris nor Dylan Klebolt were proven to have even listened to Marilyn Manson. Eric Harris saw himself as a "god" and therefore thought he was more superior to humanity. He diary entries explained that he enjoyed seeing people suffer, just because he thought they were beneath him. The occasional bullying only increased these thoughts and feelings. Dylan was just an angry and confused guy, but not as sadistic as Eric. I truly think if Eric hadn't met him, the shooting might have not happened or Eric would've probably done it on his own. The creepiest part is that Eric and Dylan, had planned this event for months, so this shooting was not a crime of passion or sudden impulse, but instead a methodical and calculating massacre.
