hassan khan well a quick dip in is that Zuko and Iroh both suffered traumatic losses that they ended up learning from. Both Ozai and Azula were the second born and despite being very talented, were destined by the order of their birth to never be powerful. This made them desperate for power.
Iroh was once as ruthless as his brother, Ozai. Remember, he was a great general of the FIRE NATION - the nation that was conquering and destroying everything! But when he suffered a humiliating defeat in the Earth Kingdom and lost his son, he started to reevaluate what's important in life - which was why he stepped down from succession to the throne and took on the role of a supportive father figure to Zuko who he sympathized with after witnessing how terribly Ozai treated him.
Rick isn’t a narcissist if he is literally the smartest being in the multi verse. He frequently admits his faults ie being a bad father and an alcoholic. His views may be misanthropic but that doesn’t mean he is wrong, just less tolerant.
Rick does NOT fit most of the requirements of being a narcissist. Most of those requirements require Rick to be delusional in each respect. Rick is NOT delusional. What makes Rick so special is that he does rightfully deserve being able to act like a narcissist without BEING one.
Rick disagrees with you. Healthy Rick points it out to Toxic Rick that he is entitled and a narcissist when they are combined. Go watch this clip, and he says it at 1:17 ruclips.net/video/up4i3sMBl94/видео.html
@S.M.P That's ridiculous. Just because you believe yourself superior to others doesn't give you the right to treat others like shit. Rick is manipulative and abusive and all these 12 year old fan boys want to be like him. Fuck Rick. He's not all that.
Rick isn't "alone in the universe" because he's too smart, he's alone in the universe because WE ALL ARE. He doesn't fail to maintain lasting relationships (which isn't exactly true, BTW, he has friends and cares for his family in a way, even though he strongly dislikes that fact - as was demonstrated in "Rest and Ricklaxation") because of his intelligence, he doesn't care for those relationships like many people do because he knows that there are INFINITE iterations of EVERY person, so if his relationship with one particular iteration of a person fails he knows that there is always another.
I desperately want to see Rick show caring and loving emotions toward his family, like most of the audience does. Isn’t it a fact that Ricks hate themselves more than anything? Well if that’s true and Rick still loves himself enough to keep on going on adventures and staying alive and caring about even the littlest things, does that mean that he shows more love for his family than he does himself?
Rick has shown some loving emotions to his family. He nearly sacrificed himself to save Morty by giving him his collar. He thinks of people as concepts but not individuals but he still loves them sort of
Yeah, the show is funny AF but has a lot of undertones, unlike purely raunchy comedies like Family Guy or South Park. And R&M is certainly superior because of it.
Trippy ThaGod So can a lot of these theories. But there is evidence that he is smarter than he's often portrayed to be. I suppose that the question is kind of a mute point because if there's "an infinite number of realities" than there's is one we're Morty is a bonafide genius.
20teamplayer The only confusing thing about that is that Rick while saying there are infinite realities (which is a real hypothesis in science) also says there are limited number of universe's they can jump to.
Shady D That might be by design. He may have preprogrammed the gun to screen out realities that are toxic to humans. Or perhaps there's some quantum mechanic rule that would cause realities to start breaking down if they kept moving from one to the next.
Rick isn't a narcisist, he is simply put just a nihilist. Let us look at the describtion: >>Nihilism (/ˈnaɪ.ɪlɪzəm/ or /ˈniː.ɪlɪzəm/; from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical doctrine that suggests the lack of belief in one or more reputedly meaningful aspects of life. Most commonly, nihilism is presented in the form of existential nihilism, which argues that life is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.[1] Moral nihilists assert that there is no inherent morality, and that accepted moral values are abstractly contrived. Nihilism may also take epistemological, ontological, or metaphysical forms, meaning respectively that, in some aspect, knowledge is not possible, or reality does not actually exist.
Everyone saying Rick isn't a narcissist needs to realize that he literally tells toxic Rick that he had his narcissism removed. So not only is he a narcissist, but he's aware that he is.
On the topic of narcissism, some of those applications were very skewed. If someone says "I'm very important" and they also happen to be the Queen of England, that's just stating a fact and has nothing to do with ego per say. The DSM criteria is not a buzzfeed quiz of diagnostics. While I know this is just a RUclips video commenting on a tv show, it still irks me when people misuse the term narcissist. There are truly abusive individuals out there with NPD and every time you bastardized this term, you make it that much harder for victims to be taken seriously and for abusers to be held responsible. It would be like saying anyone who seemed at all violent is a mass-murderer. No, just no. That's not how it works. You don't add clarity by taking something and demanding it fit inside a little box with a neat label. You must look at it for what it truly is and allow its intrinsic truth to define itself. Don't search for "answers" because you never know if you're even asking the right questions, but search for truth and YOU will be changed upon its discovery instead of you trying to change the subject matter to fit your expectations and notion of reality. Science isn't about compartmentalizing reality. It's about helping us connect to reality in consistent, meaningful ways with the least amount of interference.
He does not fit these criterias for narcissistic disorder because in the rick&morty world he is actually that superior. Look how he manhandled the president who he even called a god! And his loneliness has actually mostly to do with his high intellect which can clearly be seen in every episode in the series where he instantly sees the solution for minor and major problems that no one else can solve. That is the reason why he has a hard time connecting with people making him emotional unsatisfied. In the real world it is also very common for very smart people not being understood by most people while still needing social contacts.
It seems the common theme in Rick's lasting relationships if trauma bonding. Morty, Summer, Birdperson... These are all people he had nearly died with but made it out together.
It's simple when you can change your reality at any point then nothing matters. It's the true postmodernist lifestyle nothing is in reality and due to that you become cynical and very nihilistic. And since you control the past present and future everything becomes about you. Which is why it would be point less to even be around someone like that, you'd say the sky is blue and he'd say red, go back in time make it red and then you're wrong. He'd get a rush by being always right and have to top himself constantly until he becomes so depressed he just ends all life to test himself to bring all life back.
This feedback is not meant to be critical, I really appreciate the level of depth of the analysis and the quality of the writing on this channel. Rick is a narcissist but he does not have Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Those two things are not the same thing. Rick lacks a huge cornerstone of NPD--he doesn't care about the opinions of others. People with NPD very much care and in fact become enraged and vengeful when people don't worship them. Rick is the opposite of this. While he gets irritated when people get in his way, he isn't personally offended. If one were to diagnose Rick, he would be an alcoholic. His behaviors display a lot of signs of Anti Social Personality Disorder (aka sociopath) but in the moments he feels bad, you can see that he is only numb because he self medicates. At heart he does care. If he were truly a ASPD, he would not have those moments of remorse and feeling bad. ASPD also don't come across as cynical.
I feel that....Rick is such a Rick, because he literally is always right. He is a narcissist because there is no other way for him to perceive himself, due to the fact he's never wrong. The reason he has Morty accompany him, is in hopes that if Morty, someone who is so....well, Morty, could prove Rick to be wrong, then perhaps he can rid himself of said narcissism, thus being able to care for his family as he should. Which shows in the fact there are times when you can see Rick cares, even for Jerry. When Jerry decided to not go in the house that one episode, you see Rick smile as if to say, "You're doin good, you're learning Jerry"....of course Jerry eventually tried to go in and Rick became such a Rick again...but the point still remains.
You've added too many attributes to the definition of a narcissist a narcissist to someone who basically does not comprehend that there is anyone more important than themselves and that anyone has anything that can't be cancelled or postponed to accommodate the needs of the narcissist. You combined it with a sociopath.
You also included qualities of a psychopath which okay I'll give you that 6 automobile accidents at over 100 miles per hour in the car still goes over 100 miles per hour. It's what keeps me alive and what brings me to the edge of my own demise at the same time at all times.
Being "nice and open" IS a tool used by stupid people. Do you think managers give a shit about you? No, they use mental gymnastics in order for you to fall prey to your fears of losing your job, or disappointing someone who is "higher" than you in authority, simply because they hold the ability to take away your current livelihood. Rick is the way he is because he has all the power. He has to dumb himself down to interact with others. Theories about psychological explanations on why he acts the way he does are meaningless, because they are made by someone who knows nothing in comparison to the one being diagnosed. Rick works on benefit-based action. What you think is good for you is most likely just some bullshit you accepted without question early in life and went with it as "your thing". In reality, anyone can do anything. They simply choose to have emotional satisfaction as a goal instead of actual benefit. The same reason business and capitalism works. There are being who see quality of life differently. Communism doesn't address this, and never could. In order to increase your quality of life to that which you consider acceptable, you play the game as much as it takes to get there. Some people are simply lazy fucks who don't give a shit and live in dog shit covered hovels. Other's shoot for the middle of the road, counting enough and enough. Other people shoot for a lavish lifestyle, far above that of the mean population. Rick shoots for endless continual improvement. He IS immortal. Why? We've shown he can make working clones, and that he can transfer his personality and brain activity to another living being. There's nothing to say that this rick isn't a being that hasn't existed for billions of years, and simply chooses to make a name for himself every once in a while in his current chosen form, perhaps in an attempt to throw random variables into his existence that he has to challenge himself by dealing with. Rick is such a Rick because he is. There's no possible way for you or anyone else to explain it.
This is a video of 4 years ago and now there's a lot of information and a crybaby backstory that explains a lot about his behaviors and things are more complex than just "narcissism". Anyway, this is outdated
Something I haven't seen asked is why did Rick leave his first Morty if he loved him. The clip with him and his robot eye shows he could've been shot in the head but did he repair himself I'd like to see something on this
Theres so many wrongs pointed out in this video, first that Rick is a narcissist which isn't true he really is special from everyone and not only believes it but is it as a fact. Second, saying his original Beth said that he left her mother doesnt mean he left Beth and never came to visit Morty when he was born. The other Beth isn't even his Beth so you can disregard everything she says about him.
*You know whats more awesome then ricks portal gun.* His attitude, to not care what others think or their ego.His abilities are to not be weak emotionally but strong. He stands up for himself it's not about who's right or wrong. He simply is getting schwifty, he is himself .
God this show is just so amazing all around I don't know what we've done to deserve it. I hope that the writers and creators know what a precious gem they have and how amazing of an experience they have given so many people
A couple things first thing when it comes to the Jerry daycare the ticket he asked the other Rick if he has is the same ticket they get in the original and you can go back and look at it which means the Rick and Morty that went on the the Spree trying to save the fart was not our original Rick and Morty and the same goes for Mr poopybutthole but he's supposed to be an alternate universe and or he was there the whole time we just never noticed 2nd 3rd I don't know where I am it has not been confirmed that evil Morty is his original Morty it would be cool but it has not been confirmed
Rick has a lot of problems going on with himself. Long description short, Rick makes himself seem like a nihilistic, uncaring asshole to everyone around him as he is afraid of opening up, and the truth is, Rick deeply loves his family and as shown in the show, protects and saves them multiple times. Even if there are infinite versions of his family members, he still doesn't want to let his guard down and possibly lose his family. He loves them. He just hides it so well, that even Morty is now convinced that Rick cares about nothing and no one, which isn't the case.
6:59 his life is still just a blip on the time-space continuum, and he knows it!! "What is my purpose? (you pass butter.) "OMG". welcome to the club." 0⚡️3 6 9⚡️0
Evil Morty has the same intelligence as c137 Rick. Rick tought him or artificially made him into a genius. I dont know what happened but some betrayal had to happen.
i'm pretty sure with the power of the portal gun, rick could easily visit his morty without ever making his presence known to Beth and Jerry. It's not like our Morty could remember seeing him as a baby. IF the evil Morty was Rick's first Morty, why didn't evil Morty confront him with the truth? I think his problems come from the Lovecraft effect. He's seen some really fucked up shit. He knows things mankind would be better off not knowing, and it's damaged him.
I think that Rick needs a new philosophy. Budishm for example. Rick once said something along the line that once you know that life is meaningless the universe is yours. Good, because personally I can find plenty of meaning in a sandbox. Freedom equals happiness, but only if you decide to see it that way.
Nihilists show depth when they are hypocritical. Look at Thanos in the comics. He thinks life is meaningless, yet he's in love with Death and finds meaning in that, making him a hypocrite. The same thing applies to Rick. That's what makes these characters interesting. The ultimate character development would be the softening of Rick's heart, making him see all of the meaning in the universe (I guess I should say multiverse) in the end. It would have to be at the end of the show because it wouldn't be interesting to watch a reformed Rick. But it would be a satisfying end to his saga.
0:45 - Well thing his this ended up being true af. He also DOES have a lot of enemies. He does have unlimited power with that portal gun essentially. Narcissism implies it’s irrational or unwarranted.
Rick is an oppressor and glorifying him is racist and sexist, so all of you need to kiss my feet for giving his ego a platform. Just kidding i love this show, and love everyone who gives it a platform. Ricks exist for a reason
🔫🐵🐒🙈🐵🐒🙉Think evil Morty is a time traveling Rick, or will become Rick, so Rick must try to stem off future/past he is actualizing by his very actions, the ouroboros, serpent 🐍 biting it's own tale🍎(pun intended), infinite📿timeloop. Catch 2212 monkeys🙈🐵🐒🙉🐵🐒🙊🚬
The interaction at the Jerry Jamboree is significant, because that scene with the Jerry mix-up shows that we did not follow C-137's Rick and Morty home. The Rick that asked if that was 5126 Jerry, was our C-137 Rick and the Rick and Morty that did not have a ticket was another universe's Rick. When we followed them home, that's when we were introduced to Mr. Poopy Butthole, signifying that we were in an alternate universe. Anytime Mr. Poopy Butthole is in the show, we are with alternate Rick and Morty. Anytime there is no Mr. Poopy Butthole, there is a good chance that we are with C-137 Rick. Think about that for a minute...
Know what we know now, what makes Rick the way he is, is because he initially rejected being an adventurous scientist, and simply wanted to be a family man. That is until it was ripped away from him by Rick Prime, and his years of seeking revenge on the Rick that devastated his life is what turned him in to the bitter, alcoholic, cynic that we know now. The reality is Rick is just another deeply disturbed and broken man, who just happens to be a super genius...
A deep need for affection and meaning CONTRADICTS him being a narcissist. Narcissists do not have any deeper need for meaning and affection, narcissists care about only one thing, which is the ONLY purpose for which they exist, and that is to nurture their grandiose delusions through narcissistic supply. Their existence is shallow. So Rick is NOT narcissist, Rick is just a jaded, traumatized, really emotionally fucked up individual who is deeply haunted.
Self-centeredness looks a lot like narcissism, and suits Rick better, as he doesn't fantasize about being impressive or important and doesn't try to exact admiration from others. He thinks very highly of himself because he has an amazing intellect, and thinks little of others because of his experience with alternate realities, but his goal in life seems to be discovery and exploration (particularly of a scientific nature), while narcissists are uniquely focused on how others see them, enough so that I'd call it their primary function. Based on something Rick said in season 3, it's possible he's on the autism spectrum, probably self-diagnosed. If that's the case, it would lend a whole new flavor to a lot of his "Rickish" moments. If you consider that he's not naturally tuned in to the reactions of the people around him, it's likely that in many cases he doesn't realize quite how abrasive he is. With his interest in comedy and, I'm assuming, a saturation in it at some point during his life, it's possible he sees a lot of things from a sort of stand-up comedian perspective, and his zingers are done for laughs rather than with the intention of hurting feelings. In the episode, "Vindicators 3," he's greatly gratified by Noob-Noob's appreciation of his jokes, and more tellingly, when Morty informs him that "personality conflicts" were the reason the two weren't invited on the last Vindicators adventure, Rick doesn't realize right away that he was the origin of these conflicts. He also failed to recognize the warning signs that Morty was becoming seriously angry, and was subsequently hurt by Morty's outburst at the end of the scene. As further support of this possibility, next time you see Rick trying out a new catchphrase or cracking wise, look at the expressions of the people around him. They're usually confused, annoyed, or scornful, while Rick looks like he's enjoying himself and doesn't pay any attention to their nonverbal cues. That's a situation that people on the spectrum encounter constantly: suddenly, the person they're talking to can't take it anymore, and the guy or gal with ASD is blindsided by the backlash, when a more socially adept person would have noticed something was seriously amiss.

Rick disagrees with you. Healthy Rick points it out to Toxic Rick that he is entitled and a narcissist when they are combined. Go watch this clip, and he says it at 1:17
ruclips.net/video/up4i3sMBl94/видео.html
They really didn't research Rick well when he literally claims he's a narcissist.
@S.M.P That's ridiculous. Just because you believe yourself superior to others doesn't give you the right to treat others like shit. Rick is manipulative and abusive and all these 12 year old fan boys want to be like him. Fuck Rick. He's not all that.
@Thee I can't tell if you're being funny or serious.
Scott O'Neil yeah i think its just a shortened version of what u said ahaha
He fears so many things. What a REAL asshole.
PICKLE RICKKKK
I desperately want to see Rick show caring and loving emotions toward his family, like most of the audience does. Isn’t it a fact that Ricks hate themselves more than anything? Well if that’s true and Rick still loves himself enough to keep on going on adventures and staying alive and caring about even the littlest things, does that mean that he shows more love for his family than he does himself?
Rick has shown some loving emotions to his family. He nearly sacrificed himself to save Morty by giving him his collar. He thinks of people as concepts but not individuals but he still loves them sort of
If someone says this is just a cartoon
Show them this
Tea Senpai still just a cartoon bud
@@clayton2176 Yeah, but a meaningful (kinda) one.
Yeah, I've been criticized for watching cartoons.
This video makes R&M look like such a depressing and negative shitshow lol.
Lyn Have you seen Bojack Horseman? That shit let me depressed every time but I love it so much
Yeah, the show is funny AF but has a lot of undertones, unlike purely raunchy comedies like Family Guy or South Park. And R&M is certainly superior because of it.
Evil morty also framed this specific Rick, so your theory that evil morty was Rick's is probably correct, and he was framing him out of resentment
Great video. Now analyze the president
ArtDocHound
Good luck...
ArtDocHound it'll just be this video with clips from his speeches and the name Rick replaced with the President
ArtDocHound
President morty?
Evil morty?
You guys are geniuses. Without Rick's callousness. Thank you for a great analysis!
Only thing I learned in this video is that I'm a narcissist but who cares WUBBA LUBBA DUB DUB!

LittleMiss Biscuit bet the best one is Asian
Aussie Raptor more likely Caucasian lol
Would you say he should be the Rickest Rick, cause that's what he believes
That's why he says he's the Rickest Rick
Wow, just as insightful as wisecrack. How do yall not have more subs?. Keep it up
Can you do an analysis of Morty? I'm with the theories that he's secretly a genius as well.
20teamplayer it seem stupid
Trippy ThaGod So can a lot of these theories. But there is evidence that he is smarter than he's often portrayed to be.
I suppose that the question is kind of a mute point because if there's "an infinite number of realities" than there's is one we're Morty is a bonafide genius.
20teamplayer I agree
20teamplayer The only confusing thing about that is that Rick while saying there are infinite realities (which is a real hypothesis in science) also says there are limited number of universe's they can jump to.
Shady D That might be by design. He may have preprogrammed the gun to screen out realities that are toxic to humans.
Or perhaps there's some quantum mechanic rule that would cause realities to start breaking down if they kept moving from one to the next.
Rick isn't a narcisist, he is simply put just a nihilist. Let us look at the describtion:
>>Nihilism (/ˈnaɪ.ɪlɪzəm/ or /ˈniː.ɪlɪzəm/; from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical doctrine that suggests the lack of belief in one or more reputedly meaningful aspects of life.
I cant tell if your shit posting or serious

i personally think its not narcissim but just bipolar instead. his depression, substance abuse, his maniac episodes. it all fits.
It's about helping us connect to reality in consistent, meaningful ways with the least amount of interference.
by keeping his love ones are arms length and treating everything as a joke
me:I didn't expect to be personally targeted today
He does not fit these criterias for narcissistic disorder because in the rick&morty world he is actually that superior. Look how he manhandled the president who he even called a god!
And his loneliness has actually mostly to do with his high intellect which can clearly be seen in every episode in the series where he instantly sees the solution for minor and major problems that no one else can solve. That is the reason why he has a hard time connecting with people making him emotional unsatisfied.
In the real world it is also very common for very smart people not being understood by most people while still needing social contacts.
Dam I think I'm a little narcissistic 😂😂😂
Eddie Knotts Aren't we all? #deep
If ur black then yes
Eddie Knotts me too.
It seems the common theme in Rick's lasting relationships if trauma bonding. Morty, Summer, Birdperson... These are all people he had nearly died with but made it out together.
Oh man. Being a Rick must be really painful :(
It's simple when you can change your reality at any point then nothing matters.
*Rick technically could live forever if he transfers his consciousness into multiple clones like he did in the season 4 premiere*
PLEASE DO INSECUREEE!!!
When Jerry decided to not go in the house that one episode, you see Rick smile as if to say, "You're doin good, you're learning Jerry"....of course Jerry eventually tried to go in and Rick became such a Rick again...but the point still remains.
bullshit rick does love morty its been a plot point
indeed
You've added too many attributes to the definition of a narcissist a narcissist to someone who basically does not comprehend that there is anyone more important than themselves and that anyone has anything that can't be cancelled or postponed to accommodate the needs of the narcissist. You combined it with a sociopath.
You also included qualities of a psychopath which okay I'll give you that 6 automobile accidents at over 100 miles per hour in the car still goes over 100 miles per hour. It's what keeps me alive and what brings me to the edge of my own demise at the same time at all times.
Narcissist and narcissistic personality disorder are two different things
I have a Idea, let`s shock youtube: Everybody that views this video, also views Bohemian rhapsody from Queen.
galgenvogel Riiiiight
Nope.
One thing I think Rick should think about:
Even though he may infinite daughters, they are not his daughter.
Well that's kind of the thing. The way he acted towards bird person, was kind of indicative that he does feel this way to a certain extent.

I'm literally in love with this channel.. It's just perfect.
You just triggered all of people named rick
*You know whats more awesome then ricks portal gun.*
His attitude, to not care what others think or their ego.His abilities are to not be weak emotionally but strong. He stands up for himself it's not about who's right or wrong. He simply is getting schwifty, he is himself .
Imagine DDLC crossover xd
Grass taste bad
And thats the way the news goes
Rick knows he's a TV Charecter , it's Why he's a RICK, yet he's so Human he'll go on Scientifically realated Adventures!
First i thought the show was called 'brick and mortar'.
Now i think it's called 'prick and martyr'.
For a moment, I thought the thumbnail said "Why is Rick such a Prick"
I thought that too.
Rick is a concept
God this show is just so amazing all around I don't know what we've done to deserve it. I hope that the writers and creators know what a precious gem they have and how amazing of an experience they have given so many people
Yessss-
Rick is a narcissistic because he literally can be because he’s the smartest person in the universe
Finally, thank you for fucking pointing out the Evil Morty = OG thing not being confirmed. It's annoying as hell when people state it like it's fact.
The therapist lady party in the series was funny af 😂
After watching this, it just made me sad. Is this how Rick feels??
Rick has a lot of problems going on with himself. Long description short, Rick makes himself seem like a nihilistic, uncaring asshole to everyone around him as he is afraid of opening up, and the truth is, Rick deeply loves his family and as shown in the show, protects and saves them multiple times. Even if there are infinite versions of his family members, he still doesn't want to let his guard down and possibly lose his family. He loves them. He just hides it so well, that even Morty is now convinced that Rick cares about nothing and no one, which isn't the case.
This video helped me realize how highly I think of myself & how much of an ass I actually am.
Evil Morty is now president of the new citadel (under reconstruction)
6:59 his life is still just a blip on the time-space continuum, and he knows it!! "What is my purpose? (you pass butter.) "OMG". welcome to the club." 0⚡️3 6 9⚡️0
wow man, great video
Do more
Evil Morty has the same intelligence as c137 Rick. Rick tought him or artificially made him into a genius. I dont know what happened but some betrayal had to happen.
This video open my eyes to what I didn't see in the show before. I feel like life makes a little more sense now.
Story telling at it's best. Subbed!
What a beautiful video essay, and what a great show. Subscribed.
Anyone, please, if possible - what is that background music playing on point 2? Wish I could find it...
i'm pretty sure with the power of the portal gun, rick could easily visit his morty without ever making his presence known to Beth and Jerry.
Freedom equals happiness, but only if you decide to see it that way.
this proves how great of a show it is
Nihilists show depth when they are hypocritical.
Damn girl, Rick and Morty and Game of Thrones - I'm falling in ❤️
0:45 - Well thing his this ended up being true af.
I like your videos more than Wisecrack's videos which always comes to the conclusion that "every TV show" is about nihilism....
I’ve got a great conspiracy theory............. because he’s Rick 😂
