Bruh Ryan’s prison is gonna be infested with ghosts who want to seek revenge for their anguish and Shane’s prison is gonna have jolly little ghosts munching on popcorn
They had a panel at midsummer scream and they said when they asked if they could visit and do an investigation/ do research for this episode, they were denied. Also to visit just to visit is really expensive lol
honey if buzzfeed can afford $1000 burgers for a show that isn't interesting they can generous enough to fund a trip for their, what ? Most popular show ?
I am DIGGING the casual vacation look Shane has going on, though with the glasses it’s definitely still giving off these detective, ghoul hunting, evidence seeking vibes
May I just say, as a service worker, the fact that Shane was willing to clean a bathroom that "wasn't under his jurisdiction" is very impressive. I would never clean a whole bathroom that I wasn't required to.
I'm a scientist and we genuinely think that video producers are nerds. LOL like my friends do triathlons, marathons, crossfit, etc. I think the funniest part is that 3 people in my lab are rowers, including myself.
Scientist can mean so many different things; I hate the term. Especially when someone hears me talking chemistry and they say something like "oh you're a scientist, * *insert random question unrelated to chemistry but vaguely science related* * ".
Joe Mama Oh man, I hate that too! It's worse when you actually _do_ know the answer to what they're asking because it's tangentially related to something you've studied and you've learned at least a bit/enough to answer the question about... So you're just confirming their misconception by being able to answer while also exasperatedly trying to tell them that you don't know everything, that's not your field, not all science is the same, etc, haha
Big Doofenscmirtz energy. “Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I was doomed by a puppet, I'd have two nickels - which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice”
5:56 I've said it once and I'll say it again, out of the pair Ryan is more likely to be a murderer. Shane: Oh my prisoners would have the best happy hour😊😊 Ryan: Everyone suffers
Prison Guard: That's got to be the greatest Pirate I've ever seen... Prison Warden: So it would seem... *CUTS TO THE PRISONERS CRASHING THROUGH THE OCEAN ON A RAFT MADE OF RAIN COATS
Would've been the easiest part of the plan to write up two copies of the names/numbers/addresses/info to purposefully abandon one copy in the water to fake their deaths and get authorities off their backs... They had a phenomenally well thought out plan, I doubt they would've forgotten to add in a red herring for the cops after the escape.
Why didn’t you guys mention the theory that there was a boat waiting for them in the harbor? Inmates were saying that there was a light hitting the walls. Some inmates think it was a boat flashing its light to get the attention of the inmates. Once they got on the boat they probably dumped some stuff that they no longer needed. You can research on it more since I heard it when I visited the island. It seems the most realistic.
"How hard is it to remember a phone number?" I found out the other week that my parents don't know my number at all. My dad left his phone at home and e-mailed my mom telling her to text me to see if I could bring his phone to his job and she e-mailed back that she didn't have her phone either and so neither of them were able to call me from their work phones because neither of them know what my number is. My dad said that the only reason he knows my mom's number is because it's only one digit different from his.
Before cell phones and caller ID, phone numbers were shorter and easier to remember. We also had to memorize them because it was a pain to go through phone books or the yellow pages, so it’s definitely possible that they had their family and friends contact info memorized.
I relate to your parents. The only reason I know my parents' numbers is because they both start the same as mine with the last four digits being different. My brother didn't manage to get the same starting numbers as us so I have no idea what his number is to this day.
Well back then it was different. We werent used to cell phones and all this technology that we now rely on. I even remember being a little girl and remebering family members numbers because we had a home phone that didnt save numbers. We had a phone book but i usually remebered the most important people like mom, dad, aunt and cousin.
Neil Degrasse Tyson is actually a #RippedScientist, he played baseball in college and there's a photo of him floating around in his youth where he had biceps bigger than Ryan's head. (Not quite as big as Shane's head, but still an impressive achievement.)
Ryan, I have a thing for you to check out (I simply feel you will appreciate more than Shane). I’m from Vermont, and there is a town in Southern Vermont that is casually know as the most haunted town in the state. It even has its own “Bermuda Triangle”, know as the Bennington Triangle. People have disappeared, and seen some crazy things...lots of different accounts and different theories. Just thought it might be worth the look! Hope you read this, love the show, you guys rock -Heather
And you are a random person on the Internet who drops annoying comments on other people’s comments and then signs off on them- random girl on the internet who thinks you should mind your own business or get a life
*the inmates, all watching their 30 minutes of netflix together* someone: we should watch glee this time, guys someone else: wtf? glee? are you kidding me? we’re f***ing watching gossip girl. we still haven’t finished it yet, gerald 🤦♂️
My favorite part of every post-mortem is at the beginning when Shane's expression goes from a smile to as if he had just saw the most horrifying thing ever
#rippedscientists also on the topic of whether the inmates could have made it to shore in the raft or swimming; hadn’t they been doing physical labour in the prison, such as maintenance work, so probably were in a fairly good physical condition as well as the additional adrenaline rush. I think they definitely made it to shore and agree that the personal belongings in the water were left there intentionally 🌭
Yeah, and I mentioned in the comments that according to Wikipedia, the Anglin brothers were skilled swimmers. Quite disappointed in this Q+A video as there's no mention of the fate of the other guy, Frank Morris. Some suggested in the comments that he was murdered by the brothers to make it seem that they didn't survive (the body in the sea).
Also, people seem to not realize the fact that back then people couldn't rely on a contacts list on their phone to call someone. They actually memorized phone numbers back then for people they would call regularly. Even I still know some phone numbers by heart & I was born decades later.
Why is no one commenting on the weird, desaturated filter that is going on in this episode,,,,,, your lighting is the true unsolved mystery of this show
I found it interesting how you guys were making fun of the happy hour stuff and how "free" the prison seemed. I come from a country that is known to have really good prisons (and low rates of people being re-incarcerated) and it mostly seemed like standard stuff to me. Then again I did also find it amusing just based on the illusion I had of what the infamous Alcatraz prison would've been like haha.
To be fair - in some prisons like I think Norway, they have freedom but is still in a house. Like play video games, cook their own meals, watch tv, work out etc. But they don’t see their families or friends. So they are in confinement but they have rights to feel things because its a sense of loneliness not cruel punishment
jelly it’s to show them that they’re still human and a part of our society and they get training for the real world when they get out so they’re reformed (I think that’s the word). Last time I checked only 20% of released prisoners in Norway actually go back to prison. I hope this makes sense lol
Hey guys here is a great Unsolved: Supernatural episode! Stay the night at Alcatraz and see if any of the ghosts of former inmates answer. (like if you want to see that episode)
I’m almost completely deaf so I understand where you’re coming from but there’s auto generated captions and my friends tell me it’s almost completely accurate so I’m pretty fine with it and they also have other videos on this channel that are completely captioned and some that are just writing on the screen
I visited alcatraz a couple years ago and they still have the heads set up in the beds. I walked by with the audio tour on and as soon as i went into that section, i got chills. but only that section
Smh slightly disappointed they chose lukewarm questions/theories to read out. 😑 I really want them to know if they found out about the alleged letter from John Aglin that was confirmed this year!
I often forget just how old my dad is because when I mentioned your Alcatraz video to him, he started telling me everything he had read in the newspapers about it at the time, all the theories, all the facts as they came out and his own theories of what could have happened
A friend who spent several years in the Mansfield OH prison said they were allowed to play instruments and even form bands. The prisoners who were involved in the most activities tended to get in the least trouble.
Shane's description of his prison is essentially the Norwegian prison system, there's a recording studio in the prison that is a 20 minute drive from where I live. They also make their own food and they don't even have to stay in "cells" it looks more like a small dorm room.
Ryan, you guys visited a haunted prison that enforced silence that drove the inmates insane in one of your previous supernatural episodes!!!.... and history repeats itself yet again. Good job, Ryan.
Shane you must know that scientists are just as wimpy and nerdy as a historian/history buff such as yourself, don't even try lmao (I'm also a history buff, and wimpy and nerdy... you could flick me and break my arm)
Alcatraz is definitely worth the price! I went there at the beginning of May and I was blown away by the audio tour of the island and jailhouse. You can even go inside the cells, which is pretty freaky. They also have the exact heads used in the prison break! If you have the chance to go, do it- you won't regret it.
"That sounds inhumane"
"I hope so"
If Ricky Goldsworth was a prison warden.
Ryan went full Stanford prison experiment the few seconds he became warden of his imaginary prison
Kimberly Macias i love this comment
😂😂
I also felt like we caught a glimpse of Ricky Goldsworth when he was talking about his imaginary prison
Yeah
I think Ricky goldworth popped up to say hi.
Bruh Ryan’s prison is gonna be infested with ghosts who want to seek revenge for their anguish and Shane’s prison is gonna have jolly little ghosts munching on popcorn

Ryan likes to say that Shane is evil but I believe Ryan is the truly evil one of the two
It's not Ryan, its Ricky goldsworth
Julianna Rizzo I was literally going to say the same thing :’)
@@duck2644 love it when he does Ricky Goldworth.
Agreed. Ryan has a demon, and it’s name is Ricky Goldsworth
I'd like to think Ryan and Ricky are sort of like Toko and Genocide Jack from Danganronpa.
Big dad energy radiates from Shane’s shirt
Bea Sucks more like big *daddy* energy
Bea Sucks congratulations for making me laugh out loud
Bea Sucks oh ew I made it 666
Karina Williams thanks satan
Shane looks like a nerdy scientist dad awkwardly attending a bbq sometime in the 1980s
Wait this is scarily accurate
Maybe even 60s
In Florida
So Alcatraz is also considered one of the most haunted prisons in the country would you guys ever do a supernatural episode there?
Allie Mulder i think they did already, but i might be thinking of a different episode
rose m you might be thinking of their Eastern State Penitentiary episode
They had a panel at midsummer scream and they said when they asked if they could visit and do an investigation/ do research for this episode, they were denied. Also to visit just to visit is really expensive lol
The tickets are $45.45 to $129.95

Ricky Goldsworth trying to open a silent prison
What I learned from this episode : 1. Ryan’s a psychopath.
2. Shane’s turning into hipster dad.
3. The boys are bullies 😂😂
I’m Confused right! 😂😂😂
Lol
That's not Ryan its Ricky Goldsworth
I like how Shane always acts like he's possessed for a few seconds in the intro-- nobody ever talks about it but he does it every postmortem
Lily Clark Hahahah oh yeah, only just noticed hahah love it!
if i ever commit a crime, catch me at Shane’s prison.
Leilani Barajas yup yup scrabble and popcorn. It's poppin time!
You’d love norwegian prisons lol
Catch me at Shane’s prison hyperventilating when he hands me popcorn

Scientists are probably calling video producers nerds.
I'm a scientist and we genuinely think that video producers are nerds. LOL like my friends do triathlons, marathons, crossfit, etc. I think the funniest part is that 3 people in my lab are rowers, including myself.
And the reason why they're nerds make it entertaining in some way.
Scientist can mean so many different things; I hate the term. Especially when someone hears me talking chemistry and they say something like "oh you're a scientist, * *insert random question unrelated to chemistry but vaguely science related* * ".
Can confirm, the AV students were definitely the nerds, not the science students... That didn't change after uni and in the workforce either, hahaha
Joe Mama Oh man, I hate that too! It's worse when you actually _do_ know the answer to what they're asking because it's tangentially related to something you've studied and you've learned at least a bit/enough to answer the question about... they literally did three questions bc all of the questions had like 5 minute conv after them 😂😂
I think they got lazy when finding questions
I agree, and they are reading statements instead of questions and questions that have nothing to do with the episode :-(
James Kelly well dang give them a break
Yeah I wish they did more questions, I really wanted them to answer my comment...😕😕
I loved it lol
That’s twice Ryan’s mentioned Paddington 2 in a postmortem
Big Doofenscmirtz energy. “Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I was doomed by a puppet, I'd have two nickels - which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice”

They had a phenomenally well thought out plan, I doubt they would've forgotten to add in a red herring for the cops after the escape.
The thing is they were then tipping authorities off which friends and family to monitor. I think it's more likely the list got lost or they died.

you are a genius!!
Shane's description of his prison is essentially the Norwegian prison system, there's a recording studio in the prison that is a 20 minute drive from where I live. They also make their own food and they don't even have to stay in "cells" it looks more like a small dorm room.
Shane at 0:14 ,,did I feed my cat? ... yeah, i did.“
they lowkey just roasted me with the science thing :")
Ryan, your Ricky Goldsworth is showing
Please do one on the Romanov family

It's official. We've known them long enough to hear repeating stories.
