For starting spark plugs in awkward spaces, I have a 6" piece of thick rubber tube which pushes over the ceramic, making it easy to run the plug in by hand, only needing the socket for final tightening.
I would at least do that cap and button Ray, if it has over 100k those contacts are going to be roasted, my 5.7 cap got a crack at about 120k and they also get moisture trapped in them. Those caps are very inefficient, when I changed the cap I also had to time it because it threw an engine light for base timing. Mine also had spider injection but it never caused an issue and I drove it till it had 250k on it and sold it, I figured it'd need a front main bearing or a transmission soon so I shipped it.

Curious as to why you were avoiding the snap on truck. Actually never mind it's none of my business if you wanted us to know you would have said. I'm sure it's cuz you don't want to buy.. have a great day and an even better tomorrow..
I always used new vacuum hose, about 6"long. to put plugs back in, hook it to the tip, spin in with 1st finger and thumb, and very easy to tell if plug cross threads or tries to, and seat fully pull vacuum hose off, a LOT faster on the older GM 350 engines that had the same heat shields. I worked at a tune up shop in the late 70, early 80,s, after you put in a million or so plugs, things get easier, or you find a way to make it so, a 3ft long 3/8th extension is a back saver to , you could go through the fender well or stand at the top with a , what you call a wobbly, and snap them loose real easy, only power tools back then were air operated, seen to many plugs broke off in heads with those, faster and easier with a good MAC swivel head ratchet, wore out a bunch of those out, on the old Fords 390, and 302 engines. Worst in my day to put plugs in was the old Chrysler 383 or Leanburn BS.

Little trick for those crab caps if you have issues with not starting during damp rainy weather drill 3 1/8 inch holes through the top of the cap make sure not to hit any of the traces this will allow the cap to breathe and let out moisture i used to have to replace the cap on my safari every 6 months even after replacing the distributor i drilled the 3 holes 2 years now no problems

That coil input wire connector is an issue because the breather tube crushes it when it is assembled, I had a wire break on mine as well, I replaced the connector as the person did here, but I also added a small elbow and length of tube to the breather to reroute it so it does not push down on the ignition coil connector Also, while you are there, remove the ignition module from the frame and clean it up and slap a nice coat of new thermal paste on it
Used to have to change the cap and rotor and coil in mine once a year. When it rained it wouldn't run. Pop the hood at night and it looked like a thunderstorm 😅

Don't need to use tie wraps on the plug, just put some appropriate size heat shrink tube over the wire, plug it in and heat shrink the plug and socket together.

I just used those solderless connectors to fix a harness on the back hatch of my Jeep XJ. I made sure the connectors aren't in the "bendy area", but i'm still not a big fan. after doing about 20 or 30 of them with a crack torch and a heat gun, i never got the warm fuzzy feeling that the solder melted and made the good connection every time. Sometimes the little nug would collapse and i knew it was good, sometimes im pouring the heat to the connector and the nug never collapsed. so only time will tell.......
