We don't have much grass to worry about here in Southern Arizona. Cholla cactus, prickly pear, and mesquite trees aplenty, but not much grass. Not much flies well after messing with any of those...
Thanks for the grass Ops. Our club only has a grass runway so seeing grass Ops for a particular model is very meaningful to me. Also, it happens I got this plane for Christmas and have not yet taken it to the club to have its maiden flight and though I pretty much knew it would it is good to see how well it handled the grass.
Sure wish the 1.7 came with pump up tires too.
But instead they have the hardest ones made.
Probably better on grass but hard not to bounce on landing. Even if you are greasing the landings. I guess that's why I float ed mine
Nice to see the Piper PA-18 Super Cub again. With the bush tires it can make some nice grass landings and takeoffs. It is a classics STOL plane. If you get a reasonably windy day, you should try doing vertical takeoffs and landings...that is, balancing the thrust against the wind to essentially just float it off the ground and back down. There are lots of videos out there of the fulls scale planes doing it, so the scale planes should be able to do the same thing, and it would look awesome on camera!
Love the FMS cub it was my favorite float plane. It was the 1.7 m but I made a huge noob mistake. I put a 3s and 4s in parallel and 30 -40seconds the lake seen a 6 foot ball of flame s as my cub burnt all way to the water.
It was a complete right off. Now I have to wait until stock is in for replacement. I want the same cub again.

I’ve thought about buying that planes replacement landing gear and tires and modifying it to work on my carbon cub s2. Doesn’t look easy but that suspension and those tires would be a huge upgrade
Yes that’s great I believe that I need to buy this plane because their is a old runway about two miles away I don’t have grass here I live in RV park all gravels yes throw & go 👍❤️

This and the AeroScout are the 2 planes I always recommend, Most say, I hate the way the AeroScout looks that thing looks like a ugly duckling lol so that's when I suggest the PA-18, 😁

I’ve mowed grass my entire life! That’s actually how I funded my hobby through school. I pushed mowed 14 yards at one point! Thought I’d be smart and get a “real job” at KFC and ended up working double the time for less money. How I could talk about grass all day! 👍💯⚓️
