    Issue I run into is some in my area say "dealer only" when you go to buy, the second issue is on a lower dollar deal say $1000 the copart fees add over $300 then a broker will add another $200+ so you add 50%+ to the cost

    In the uk we pay a yearly membership fee and can bid on any vehicle the only time a licence is needed is for buying category b ( break only or parts cars) these could only be purchased by companies with breakers licence and yards for dismantling and resale of parts, although recently anyone can bid on these now, but if you win a cat b car you need to pay £100 to book the use of a bay and strip the car in the copart yard and they remove the engine for you , but you have to leave the body with them for disposal

I have experience....so, it seems to me.....very difficult to make a PROFIT....in buying and selling "totaled" vehicles...and State Laws are NOW more STRICT than ever....and all must be done...properly. It is not a bad thing...to require proper repairs...as there are a lot of "shady" repairs done...and THEN, it gives...."rebuilt"...bad image. That is all l have to say....and of course, Copart....is "less than truthful"...about vehicles....must inspect and know...what you doing!!!

    I used a broker to buy a truck from copart. I paid the broker 200 for winning the truck, if I had lost, I would have paid him nothing. Copart does list several brokers, but some will charge you, win or lose. Mine charged only for winning.
    The truck was listed as run and drive, so not knowing anything about copart, I got a bus ticket to go pick up the truck 200 miles away from home. I was happy until I realized that the truck had a top speed of 50 MPH, then 40, then 30, then 20, when I got home, the truck had a top speed of 5 MPH.
    It runs fine now, $600 later. It needed a new lift pump, injector pump, filters. I got lucky, I got a truck for a decent bargain, needed some work, but it all worked out. Google or Bing or Yahoo! "Copart Complaints" and I found out that alot of other first time buyers weren't so lucky.
    BTW, this was all before I ever saw a Samcrac video, looked up complaints, learned anything about Copart really other than some people saying "you can get a great deal for cheap!"

    • @MyDailyUpload
      @MyDailyUpload 6 лет назад +5

      How did you drive it away? It was my understanding that Copart will only release a car if you have a flatbed or trailer to haul it away. Did it have clean title and not salvage?

    • @vivillager
      @vivillager 6 лет назад +2

      When I came I had a Texas Temporary Permit, plus it was insured. The guy at the gate gave me some paper work and I had to add random numbers into the license plate for the towing vehicle. Yes, it had a clean title. Texas will not give a temporary tag for salvage vehicles (I think they will for rebuilt vehicles, but I haven't asked or tried)
      It does make me wonder because if someone tows a vehicle, if any part of the towed vehicle touches the road, it must have a tag. That means, if I were to tow a car on a tow-dolly, it would have to have a valid license plate, or tag. The only way to tow it legally without a plate or tag is to have it on a trailer with all wheels off the ground.
      I often see several Mexicans (not being racist, but that's my assumption, they're brown skin and speak Spanish) and they will buy several cars from Copart, and tow it to thru Texas, heading south. I don't know if they're going to the U.S. Mexican board, or to Houston/Galvaston to ship to another Latin American country.
      Thing is, I'll see about 24 cars, get 8 of them to run, all 8 tow another 2 behind with tow bars (for a total of 3 when you include the towing vehicle). And they'll just zoom down I-30 to U.S. 59 South with 8 sets of 3 for a total of 24 cars. I don't know if any were salvage or clean title, but I could go back and look at the video I took. All the cars, including the towing ones still had the Copart tags on the windshield, and none of them, including the towing vehicles had any sort of plates or tags.
      I asked one of my neighbors about it, being a cop, and he really didn't know, or didn't care because it doesn't go thru his city. He said that when a car is purchased a person doesn't need tags or permits for 30 days as long as he has the bill of sale or receipt to prove that he just got it. But he/she does have to have insurance, tagged or not. What he didn't know about is if the bill of sale/receipt provides 30 days of operation for a vehicle with a salvage title (not rebuilt title).

    • @vivillager
      @vivillager 6 лет назад +1

      By the way, After I purchased my first truck, a full ton dually, I fell in love with trucks, especially 4X4 diesels. Only problem was that I soon found out that my Quad Cab, Long bed, DRW truck needs more room than a sedan to make turns, and forget about a U-Turn, it needs about an acre and a half. So I decided I'd be replace my sedan with another 4X4 diesel that I could use as a daily driver.
      I found one, still a long bed but regular cab so it's shorter, and SRW. I used the my first Copart truck, the dually to go pick it up from Copart.
      While I was waiting for the truck to be brought to the gate, another guy was ahead of me and was waiting for his car. He got an Audi that had some body damage, I don't know if it was a clean title or salvage. He did the same as I had done back in Dallas. He just screwed on a temp tag and drove it away. This time I had a truck and trailer and I towed my new purchase away.
      So apparently, it is possible to just drive away with a Copart purchase.

      There is a video on RUclips titled "My Copart Experience & Review is Copart a Scam" it is 42 min 56 secs long, the author (or uploader) of the video is DisciplesCorner. In the video the "star" of the video buys a car from Copart, a Chevrolet Lumina with a clean title.
      It doesn't say, but I believe that the "star" of the video simply showed up to the auction and drove away with the car, no truck or trailer. It shows him filling the tank at a gas station and then driving it until it breaks down before he can get it home. Because he drove it, I'll assume that he didn't show up with a truck and trailer. The video also shows him passing another Copart buyer who too is stranded on the same stretch of highway with their Copart purchase. Once again, because it was driven I'll assume that they too didn't show up with a truck and trailer.
      So I'm guessing that you can show up to Copart and drive away with your purchase. My first go I had to sign that I was not driving it, and that I was towing it, and to input the license plate of the vehicle that I was towing it with. Since I didn't have a towing vehicle the guy just told me to "fill in the blanks with a random plate", so maybe it is against company policy, I don't know.

    So I’m confused, and I looked at all of the comments before I typed this. If there is no required license but in your state you are required to get a broker, that defeats the purpose of you looking in the column where you do not have to get a license to bid on a car. That’s what I don’t get, and I’m from Florida too.

    I bought one from Copart, but it is almost impossible to get a good deal from them. They charge a huge amount in fees. Most part of their cars have conditional sale and if you get a car for cheap they cancel your bid and relist the car next week. I got one, waited 2 business days and didn't even receive an email saying my bid was rejected.

    • @fersaccon

      Today at the closest Copart location they have 187 itens for sale: only 4 are pure sale (2 burnt vehicles). I am aware of types of sale, but pretty much everything listed is "On Approval". I've got many vehicles at auctions before, but they usually charge the bid price, maybe a 5% auctioneer fee, plus taxes. In my case, Copart charges on the top of your bid: buyer fee, virtual bid fee, amvic transaction fee, gate fee and taxes. I am not saying I wasn't aware of those fees, but my $525 bid ended up at $708.

    General question re Sales Tax on a Copart Salvage Car... I know from previous experience buying from other local dealers (who also buy from Coparts) the local place does NOT charge me a State Sales Tax... I just incur that when I go convert that Salvage Title in A Rebuilt/Reconstructed Title...
    So bottom line, if I were to buy a salvage car through Copart either on mu own (if poss) or if by going through a broker, I will also incur the Sales Tax on Copart Salvage Car??? And then another Local State Sales Tax at the end upon trying to get the Rebuilt Title (i.e. Double Dip on Taxes???)

    Hi Sam, love the channel. I looked but didn't see if you had a video that goes over every type of title and what it means as far as getting a salvage title . I see some mostly flood that say non-rebuildable that run and drive. Does that mean no matter what this can only be a PARTS CAR? Thanks

    Sam gotta say erepairables was quite a disappointment, I signed up for an account with them and was going to bid on a car with them however before I bid I noticed they were listing the current bid higher than what the copart site was saying, I called them to ask them about the discrepancy thinking it was an error and they told me they can only accept bids in $100 increments. Its a BS excuse and theyre using it as a way to make a little extra on a sale. I have looked at a few either online brokers and none of them that I found was forcing users to bid higher than the current copart bid. To anyone reading this I would stay away from them and choose another broker.

    Brokers flat rate is $400. How much did you pay for the car again?
    I had to get a refund for my copart membership because without a business you need a broker and they have a flat rate fee no matter how much the vehicle cost. You are better off getting a dealers license.

    Hey there I would really appreciate if you could take some of your time to help with some questions I have .. I have an old car a 2005 Nissan Altima and I notice here in Houston most car on sale have salvage titles so I know they may come from auctions .. I downloaded Copart and came across a hail damage car I would like to bid on so I can upgrade and have a newer car .. I don’t a have a license and I check the licensing by state and here in Texas it says “private individuals buying in Texas may purchase salvage titled items on their own but will need to go through a Broker for all clean titled vehicles”
    But my question is that the car I’m looking at says document type : “Texas certificate of title “ so I don’t know if I need a broker .. let’s say I get my aunt to create an Individual account she does have a license and make her bid on it . Do I need a broker ? How do you get one . Thanks in advance

      I've answered this question a bunch of times in a lot of separate videos, but not devoted an entire video to it. I get asked this several times a day in my email, so I figure it will be easiest to make the video, and forward it to people instead of answer it individually every single message I get.

    So, I am looking for a first car, nothing fancy. But today I came across a 2010 Kia Optima lx with just over 36,000 miles on the clock. It has a clean title, and it is in for vandalism. In the pictures, there is no visible damage and it looks like it is in very good condition. It is a pure sale, current bid is $0, but it was last updated on Jan. 27, so it has clearly been there a while. Do you think it would make a good first car?

    • @Samcrac

      Vandalism could be anything from Sugar in the tank and it was ran until engine problems occurred, brake fluid poured on it/keyed badly, to stolen parts like the Catalytic Converters (Happens more than you'd think). I personally never buy from Copart if i've never gone to see/start the car in person, the team at my location is very great and will give you the keys (if its a Run & Drive) to go look at the vehicle. I highly recommend to go take a look for yourself if you can. That could even be somebody's lemon and they couldn't afford to fix, anybody can present their car to Copart to sell. Another big thing I look for is vehicles being sold by insurance company's, but their vehicles are %99 going to be 'Salvaged'

    Still not clear about "no license required". If went under "no license required" and found a vehicle. The vehicle is Texas and I'm in New Jersey. All I need is a driver license? Or since it's out of state, I need a broker since NJ says it requires a business license

    • @That_Stinger_GT5

      Places like George and Texas you dont need a broker or dealers license to buy, you simple have to win the car in the bid, pay your fees and get it shipped to you.

    I’m on of buyer car from copart, and it’s third time I fail to get better deal. People sell there very problem car by cleaning any engine code tp copart buyer and buyers like me suffering a lot by fixing it very expensive after that and ending up selling less auction price.
